Back then I was jaw dropped when I first hear and see the solo on enter sandman and I said one day I can play the solo. Now,I am finally proud because after tons of practice I can play the solo and my friends jaw drop when they hear and see me play :)

Everyone says how Kirk's solos are all wah, lacking feel, and made up of sloppy pentatonic runs. C'mon, guys. You can use the pentatonic scale and make it sound awesome. Take a solo like Hotel California for example. The pentatonic scale is used allot, but sounds great! Kirk may not be as great as Eddie or Hendrix, but he's the reason why I even play electric guitar, so he can't be all bad.
He's the reason i play too. But over the years I've been listening to more Marty Friedman stuff than i do Kirks stuff. Like cacophony and megadeth hell even his solo stuff. Jason Becker is also a badass.

I agree. EVH is what really got me into guitar but Metallica is definitely one of my influences
Not everybody. This song is an all time classic. Jimi Hendrix was sort of sloppy and simplistic (could have been the drugs) but his songs are known worldwide. Angus Young is almost all pentatonic scale but also recognizable anywhere. There are lots of technically proficient guitarists out there that nobody will ever remember. Steve Vai is one of the best guitarists ever but most famous for the Cross Roads duel.

Start listening to Megadeth...I can assure you they have much much better music...
I'd love to see a Nightmare solo,To End the Rapture solo,and/or a God Hates Us solo.

I just wish you had more videos on stuff like your tips for how pratising things other than solos like scales chords and techniques should be done or approached.

DEAR CHRIS, i have been watching your videos for a long while and you dont use a guitar pick and your nails are not fashioned as for playing in any particular way and i cant even see them being long. e minor
e minor natural ??? the main riff or clean riff is 0 - 7 - 5 - 6 - 5 , the last 6 - 5 is that included in the e minor scale ????? its so confusing ??!!!
I dont know all that much about music theory to be honest, but Metallica writes most of their songs in E minor just like most other metla bands, because the deepest note on a standard tuned guitar is the E and major doesnt sound metal I guess :P
ok dude so the main riff is in E locrian. It borrows notes from the locrian mode while mainly using the aeolian mode for the rest of the song. The solo uses the pentatonic scale with a little bit of blues thrown in. The locrian mode uses a flatted fifth (hence the 6 on the low E during the main riff) and it gives a nice dissonant sound which is very METAL

This is the first for me. I don't understand it I rewind it so many times. Kind of fast, and camera is to far in my opinion. I usually pick your stuff up. Kind of disappointed cause that's like one of my favorite songs, and I would love to play. I've learned master of puppets pretty well tho. Still great to

HOW DO U BEND UPWARDS IT JUST MAKES THE OTHER STRINGS RING AND IT MAKES ME WANNA DIE
You need to mute with your pointer/index so when you bend up and down they don't ring.

I had the same problem coming from classic guitar, but I learnt you have to mute with the tip of your index

hahaha I Swear, Yesterday i was decided to use my wah pedal KH95 who was abandoned for a 6 mounths :/. You are pretty much my go to guy when I need to learn a solo quickly. I appreciate this very much
I don't understand. I come back and forth to this solo, and each time I take it slow it all comes together EXCEPT for that @6:25 lick and the way you link it to the licks just before and after WITH timing. I can't seem to play it, even really slow, and making it fit to the beat. And it messes up with my head! I feel like I cannot practice this part slowly because it doesn't make sense... And when I slow your playing when you play the full solo, I can see you're not playing it exactly as you teach us, kinda skipping the last two notes and jumping to the triplets. But for me... Impossible to do. Any tips, you guys? Anyway thanks for the lesson I appreciate!
Once again Mr Zoupa has taught me how to get a solo down i open another tab with the backing track of the solo section of the song im learning from Chris and practice each section until i have it down phrasing and timing thank you so much Chris keep them coming too!!!!

No one plays it right. I can't even play 1% of it but that's just something I noticed. Seems like a solo is like a fingerprint. Only the owner of the fingerprint can copy it.
