I loved Xmen first Class. It's such an awesome film. One of my favorite scenes when Xavier and Magneto are discovering his powers, gives him a memory of his mother, and reminds him when he ties the anger and the love together, he'll possess a power no one can match, not even him. Awesome.

U should. They're great (except for maybe the last one)
I'm so glad i'm not the only person who likes the 2021 kings man more than the original. The church scene in the first really IS unbeatable, but that rasputin fight really gave it a run for its money. My only complaint was the obvious twist villain and the STRANGEST end credit scene ever, but the surprise character death, which i still throw in as one of the most shocking movie deaths ever evens it out with me.

Sean, your top 3 is the same as mine! I also liked The King's Man much better than the previous two. I think my favorite Matthew Vaughn movies are his action flicks that are set to a historical backdrop, such as X Men First Class. I think I'd rather see a continuation of The King's Man's story than the present day Kingsman story with Eggsy

This is why I identify with you Sean about films and characters, I loved The Kings Man because it focused on the character period, the action scenes were still fun. With Vaughn’s X-Men film it felt like the truest thing to what we know and love about the X-Men.

As a point of reference, I watched and took notes on all of these movies over the past three weeks. These are my updated thoughts on all of these films.
8. Kingsman: The Golden Circle-A complete and total misfire of a sequel that has the style and energy of the first film, but with fundamentally broken ideas, forced humor, too many plotlines, and a jumbled narrative to make for a movie I don’t really like at all
As another point of reference, I would go positive on the rest of these movies.
7. Stardust-If you enjoy sword fighting, sci-fi and fantasy infused together, humor, stories of self discovery, bright colors, and movies with great casts, then Stardust is definitely a film worth watching, and one I had a pretty decent time with
6. Argylle-Even though it’s not as good as it could’ve been, it’s an enjoyable spy film with plenty of energy all throughout its runtime, very good performances from Howard and Rockwell, interesting twists and turns, and stylized Vaughn action
5. Layer Cake-While I didn’t enjoy this movie anywhere near as much as I do with Guy Ritchie’s first two films, this was still a solid British crime film with sharp dialogue, enjoyable style, and a role from Daniel Craig that shows his ability to be intelligent and cool at the same time
4. The King’s Man-Upon rewatching this film for the first time, I really enjoyed this entry to this franchise for its ability to combine Kingsman style, revisionist history elements, and a lot of emotional weight from Fiennes as the lead to make for a holistic experience
3. Kick-Ass-While this movie certainly isn’t for everyone, it’s a subversive, fresh spin on the superhero genre that has plenty of irreverent punchlines, extreme violence, and recognizable faces to make for a highly enjoyable comic book film for me
2. Kingsman: The Secret Service-A great, subversive spin on the spy genre filled with great actors playing memorable characters, ultraviolence, solid worldbuilding, crass humor, and plenty of energy to be a movie I keep being drawn back to rewatching over the years
1. X-Men: First Class-An awesome addition to the X-Men franchise that includes fantastic performances from McAvoy and Fassbender, dynamic and exciting action, and a style that both fits in the franchise very nicely while being fresh and distinct at the same time

Been waiting for this ranking for awhile. Vaughn is really underrated.
1.X-Men First Class
2.Kick-Ass- This is a blast every time. Great cast, great score, and some great action. And absolutely before its time. Always feels about ten minutes too long but I love it.
3.Kingsman The Secret Service
4.Argylle-Had a total ball with this in theaters. The cast was deliriously fun, the action kicked butt and that finale was a joy. A bit overlong but I loved this one.
5.L4YER CAKE-I might prefer this to a few of Guy Ritchie's first movies but I need to rewatch it. Good time and I dug the ending.
6.Stardust-A cute fantasy adventures; De Niro is a comedic machine in this one and its very charming. Very overstuffed the score was super cheesy but nice.

When he used a coin to kill sebastian shaw and it was going through his brain and xavier (who was keeping him froze) at the same time so he felt his agony. What a scene.
Colin firth in kings man is perfection. Perfect casting
In my opinion kick ass is number 1, one of my favorite films of all time.

I love first class so much, not only do I think it is the best Mathew Vaughn film, I think it is the best X-men movie period (excluding the wolverine trilogy ). That Soundtrack as well, incredibly underrated. Side Note, Give Mathew Batman: Brave and the bold, he would make it so awesome.

1. Kick Ass A+ - absolutely love this film and I'd say it's one of my favorite comic book films

3. Layer Cake A - I think this is a super fun British crime movie that's prett underrated and on par with of Guy Ritchies gangster films

Kickass is an absolute masterpiece and my favorite superhero movie outside DC or Marvel.

6. Stardust (not my thing but it has some fun casting and a greatly appreciated Charlie Cox role)

8. Argylle (wasn’t enough action for my taste and visually unsatisfying)

Matthew Vaughn is a director I have always liked! I have enjoyed the majority of his film.
I’ve always found him to be rather underrated.

100% agree First Class is better than Days of Future Past. The best origin story I’ve seen behind Batman Begins.

The only Vaughn films that I have seen to date are Argylle and First Class. I'm a guy who loves a goofy good time, but while I enjoyed some of it, it was too long and had me rolling my eyes by the end. X-Men First Class is the most underrated movie in the entire franchise, so much so that it's my 2nd favorite film right behind my #1: Logan. It really is a Bond movie with superheroes, and it did what Batman Begins and Casino Royale respectively did for the Batman and Bond franchises. After Origins: Wolverine, this one was dead in the water until Vaughn revived it. And boy, are McAvoy and Fassbender (the real scene-stealer!) great here as younger versions of two men we are familiar with at this point. Magneto's backstory is so interesting that it feels like something out of Inglorious Basterds, minus the humor. And placing them in the middle of the Cuban Missile Crisis was genius, although not everything comes together by the end perfectly. I will post links to my spoiler-free reviews below. As a point of reference when it comes to the director, I don't actively seek out his films, but my brother and sister-in-law loved the first Kingsman (the second seems to have a bad reputation among so many people). Maybe I will eventually watch Kick-Ass. We will see. Fun fact: Vaughn may not have directed the overrated X-Men DOFP, but I think he has a story credit for it.

Personally I loved layer cake. I though everything from the cast to the score to the direction to the ending was amazing. It’s in my top 3 Matthew Vaughn films alongside with The Kings man and First Class.

1. Kick-Ass 10/10 (one of my favorite comic book movies of all time, it’s easily top 3 for me in the genre)
This seems like it might be an unpopular opinion but my favorite Vaughn film would have to be Kick-Ass probably due to nostalgia and that it was one my first R rated films!
X Men First Class is rightfully #1. Most underrated superhero movie of all time. It has the hero team-up that the Avengers movies have, but it flies under the radar because it's not apart of the MCU.
Kick ass is so much more than a commentary on comic book movie it’s got heart for days. Loved it

Why no music 😭
The lack of music is crazy, but it happens. Also absolutely wild to see kings-man at 2, but I somewhat get it. Really liked it up until the villain reveal which irritated me so much. Granted I caught it while on a plane, but still, Matthew Goode wtf.

Kingman the golden circile did the classic trick of promsing lots of Channing Tatum in the trailer, but he was barely in the movie. Also, they had lots of oscar winners (Halle Berry, Jeff Bridges, Juliane Moore), just sitting at tables not realling doing anything.

I watched all of these except for x men first class and stardust over the last week for the first time
8: Kingsman the golden circle: it makes a ton of weird choices like bringing Colin firth back and everything about it is less interesting then the first
I enjoy everything else on this list
7: kick ass: an unashamedly crass superhero comedy it didn't land for me as well as I'd hoped and some of it is to crass for me
6: layer cake a solid thriller with pretty good performances I just enjoy these other ones more
5: stardust: a really cool fantasy film with an interesting premise and a stacked cast
4: the kings man: this one leans a bit more into the spy element while retaining most of the fun of the first one and has some great new characters and I loved it's take on certain historical figures
3: argylle: an unashamedly fun spy send up movie the cast is great it's over the top the action is great this was made for me
2: kingsman secret service: a fun spy movie that's bloody but funny with a great cast
1: x men first class: my second favorite x men movie it has a fantastic cast especially fassbender Kevin Bacon plays a fantastic villain and it's got a really cool tone and vibe to it

My thing is I love first but days still got it for me but if days is 10/10 first is 9.8/10 and I would say the hunger games did Lawrence better than first

While I totally agree with you Sean about the excellent exploration of the Magneto / Professor X characters in X-men First Class, the movie loses a few points for me due to the flat and sometimes cringey portrayal of the younger members of the team. I feel that whenever McAvoy, Fassbender and Kevin Bacon are off screen the movie feels a bit lifeless.
Like First Class very much but nowhere near as good as DOFP IMO. If First Class was just focused on Erik & Charles I might prefer it.
