Litening to what Major Mackerel is saying about in the 1970s it is not true, in the 1970s. The younger DJs in Jamaica was General Echo and Wilton Irie, was the leading DJs during the 1970s. During the 1970s the leading DJs in Jamaica was General Echo number one and Wilton Irie was 2nd, the DJs that follow by Sassafras, Ranking Joe, Lewie Leppkie, Charlie Chaplain, Josey Wales, Brigadier Jerry, Yellow man, Hugh Brown, there was a few other up coming DJs in the 1970s. Shabba Ranks, Ninja man, other younger DJs came in the 1980s. I useto lived near to 👑 King Tubbys from in the 1960s in Waterhouse before Jammys have no sound system, and I know when he was learning trade with king 👑 Tubbys. I know uroy in 1968 when he was operating and DJ for Tubby hi power, then I roy, Dennis alcaphone, Trevor Ranking, Big Youth just to mentioned a few of them.
@@lilhypez97 Clint Eastwood, You have Lone Ranger, admiral Bailey, Little Lenney, and a couple more DJS in the 1980s and 90s Shabby was the ruler in Jamaica the Grammy kid, without you don't have a number one hits songs. You cannot compared with Shabby like ninja man, General Trees is a very good DJ Mini Bus Driver was a very big hit song for him.
@@lilhypez97 The younger generation in Jamaica need to be teach about the differences with the various places where the dance has kept, if the dance is kept at the school room, it is called school room dance, club is called clubhouse dance, house it is called house party, beach it is called beach party, streets it is called streets dance, hotel it is called a ballroom dance, the name dancehall is a big hall like the city hall and you played the music inside there and people dance in it. That is how the name came in, also there are two different types of sound system useto be in Jamaica during my time grew up in city. King 👑 Tubbys, Duke Reid, Sir Don, Coxene, Sir Denmark these are the original sound system in the 1950s and 60s. The rest of sound system them came in the 1970s Like King 👑 Jammys, Killamajaro, stone Love, Black Scorpio, social Roots, General Echo, Tipper Tone, Merry Tone, just to name a few of them. When I know Stone Love in 1972 ,it was a little house set playing all kinds of music. Gemini was a soul set, afrique, Yellow Canary, stylistic those sound system was called soul set, because they would play you variety of music but. Sound system like Tubbys, Black Scorpio, Jammys, channel one, Socialist Roots, Stereophonic just to mention a few of them, they only played strictly rubber dub music. So when I kept hearing these nonsense about dancehall music, as far as I know. All kinds of music played in the dancehall, it depends on the sound system he is playing for. Also the crowd of people is at the party, so you haveto play a variety of different music ok.
