    The paint on the plug proved your theory that the engine was at least painted. I have only seen plugs older than that one time. I met a man in 2009 that had a nearly 100% original Model A that was his daily driver. I didn't believe him until he invited me to inspect it. The car still had the factory plugs and wires. The car was immaculate. It had been in his family since it was new, and had never even been restored or anything. It was beautiful, and he drove it on a regular basis. He said that he didn't drive it in bad weather, but drove it whenever possible. It was amazing. It was in nearly perfect condition.

I hope those stickers can be preserved eventually. those and the overal looks along with graffitti makes me think of it parked behind the university house for many years, used for graffitti, abused, and waiting for someone to fix it. and said someone tried to, but maybe fell sick or ran out of money and steam.

    It’s good to have both of you back after a short absence.

    Your getting Scottish weather by the looks of it. Not the best conditions to be fiddling around with seized engines.
    It could be a nice car if someone was willing to invest the time and effort putting it all back together again, perhaps with a replacement engine?.

    I remember Nehi and Upper 10. They were trying to compete with 7up and Sprite, but they didn't last long. Sometimes, bottles from small independent regional companies that are long gone will be valuable. Coca Cola used to stamp the name of the city where the bottles came from on the bottom. Some of them are very common and some are rare. If you wanted to find out if any of those bottles are worth anything, that would be the place to start. It's worth checking into.
    We used to play a little game. When we were all drinking cokes, we'd each look at the bottom of the bottle when we finished. Whoever has the city that was the furthest away was the winner. Of course, you had to know your geography to know where everything is.

    You may wish to try prying the crank counterclockwise, then clockwise to break it loose. Also, try suspending a weight on the end of a pry bar to keep a constant downward pressure. There's a cool vid on RUclips where a '37 Chev had a cylinder so rusted it had to be re-sleeved. The owner used a vintage boring bar and that block cleaned up beautifully. Oh, I'm a new subscriber by the way!

    At 4:35 I think they made a tool to partially turn the engine so tappet clearance can be adjusted. I just bumped the starter on mine till the flywheel mark lined up with the pointer. Wish I was there to watch/help you. Coffee's on me.

    Heaters were optional, even on Lincolns, all the way through the 60s. I think only Cadillacs came standard with a heater. Oil filters were not standard on Chevys until 1967.

    You might check to see if the motor is against the bell housing. With the way that motor is sitting it is a very good possibility. Also check for a mechanical Bendix arm. Can't remember on that car. Only worked on two like it and they were both brake jobs so I wouldn't know. Hope you get that car. It is worth having by far.

    • @whattherust
      @whattherust Год назад

      It does have the exposed Bendix arm. I had my finger on it at one point, and it is moving just like it should. I still can't figure out why the Bendix would not engage the flywheel, but it is possible that the drive gear is worn away. That would cause the same behavior.
