Probably the best review of a backpack I've ever seen. It not only showed me a clear shot of how big the bag is, it gave some perspective on how to organize the backpack. I think I may buy one for myself. (Hey, and if I don't, I still learned some organization skills.) Thank you so much!
do know if it would be sturdy enough to fit a ps4 (original), a laptop and the games/ appliances (power bricks cords, etc.) in the lap top compartment, like one going in the strapped part, and the other going where he put the original.
great review, this is exactly what i was looking for. not only was it what i was looking for, it was very articulate and got right to the point, so i didn't need to scroll through half the video to see what features the backpack had. thanks for posting!
Thanks. I just noticed that. Woohoo! I want to do more reviews but finding time is hard. By the way, this bag has been treating me right for months now. I load it up solid too. No issues at all. Only thing I recommend is getting another bag for cord organizing. I have like 10 cords floating around always in this bag and I can't seem to find a permanent place for them. Probably my fault because I am scatter brained and always looking to throw things in bag quick without thinking.
Thank you sooo much Mark. Fantastic review - very helpful! Very easy to understand and incredibly thorough especially the way you explained every little function of the pack. One of the best reviews I have ever seen on RUclips. I am off to Amazon to buy one now. Thanks again! :)
I think this is the newer model of the one I have. The main difference is that this one completely folds down. Which is perfect for traveling through TSA. The SwissGear backpack I have has been by far the most durable backpack I have ever owned. Before I owned it, I had to purchase a new backpack every single year because they would tear. So I must be harder on my backpacks because of the weight of my books. I typically carried 10lbs in books alone. The bag is starting to tear so I want a replacement.
I like that bag so much, very roomy and nice looking too, I usually load it with groceries and walk home from a grocery store nice and informative review, good work
Thanks. It's always nice to see what it's like full of things. I just traveled on airline with it today. Didn't try the hassle free laptop scan thing. But the ease of taking out laptop was nice.
It was out for delivery yearerday but we are having a winter storm here in the Midwest so they couldn't deliver and roads are bad/non passable today so hopefully tomorrow! :)
Wonderful review. What catches and impresses the eye is true practical demonstration. Too good. Whoever watches this video and purchase this backpack from Amazon reviewer should be paid few bucks by Swiss Gear cause am buying after watching this helpful video. Lol. Good job
Going back to school at 27 years old my body isn’t what it used to be, have been using a side bag and I’m getting major lower back pain. Hoping this backpack will be an improvement carrying my laptop and a few books
Nice. Let me know how you like it when you get a chance. One thing I’d like is quieter zippers lol. Like when you walk they ding. The small things. Ha.
+Mark Gingrass I love this thing! I love the fact that it holds my Apple 17 inch laptop as well. The amount of pockets is perfect. So many places to place things. Sometimes I forget where I put something. Great bag!! Again, you did a great job in describing the bag.
Great review. I was looking for a video that would show me pretty much the weight capacity of this backpack. I love it for bike riding all that was a little big but I like the fact that I can put several items in it. And again great job simple to the point good video
I just bought a Scan Smart from Target yesterday. No tags included. We agreed on a $71 price found online. This might have been an older model. No carabiner in front, lots of pockets. There is a cable in the back compartment with a pocket for a uSB connector to plug into a power bank. I cant find the other end! Help!
I've been shopping for a new backpack. I currently have an LL Bean and I just went on a trip with it. My shoulders were very sore and I know school is coming up, so I found this backpack and this was the first review. It is very helpful and well detailed. My little 11 in laptop will hold fine and if I got an I pad it would work. Thank you so much!
+turkayy Nothing beats actually seeing things come out of the bag in real time! Easier to assess how much room there really is. I used it to fly to Boston from Oklahoma CIty and was impressed at the airport too.
Thank you for the review and demonstration of what can fit in your backpack. The 1900s are still for sale, was thinking of getting one. It's been a couple of years, how is your bag holding up?
I recently lost a zipper but I'm telling you, u bear the living hell out of mine. I stuff it to the brim almost daily and travel at same time. It still works because it has dual zippers.
Thank you so much for this great review I have decided to go ahead and get this one for travel. laptop, DLSR camera and two gopros with accessories should fit fine in this
Yes. I would recommend something for all the cords and accessories. Like a bag within a bag type of deal. Should carry it all no problem. I've had this bag for months and I use it HARD and everything still holds up. No zipper issues or anything. Still glad I chose this one.
Thanks for the video, I'm about I make that purchase now, although I'm riding the grey one instead of the black. But overall I really appreciate your video
+Mark Gingrass Nice review. Do you think the main laptop compartment (inside the mesh) would fit an laptop that is 15" x 12"? It's the new Alienware 15 R3, and my biggest problem with finding a good bag is the width (12") of this beast. Also, is there a pass-through on the bag to attach to a luggage handle?
Great review. Two questions: 1. Is the bottom of the bag padded? 2. Does the bag stand-up or does is tend to fall over? I can see in the video it's partially tilted but wasn't sure. Thank you.
It stands up for me. Not a lot of padding on bottom. Doesn't seem to bother me at all though. Just can't drop it on floor. You could make a make shift coushing for it maybe.
anyone know what to do with the loose hanging straps off the shoulder straps? the ones with the plastic piece on the end? do those have a purpose or how can they be tucked in?
By far the best review of the bag so far :I have made up my mind to order this; just need to know if this is 1900 or 1923 and what's major difference between the 2? Maybe, you can throw light on that.
good review , one questions - Amazon has descried as "ScanSmart lay-flat technology for the ultimate in laptop-in-case TSA scanning " for this backpack - Did TSA allowed you keep the laptop inside ?
+Mark Gingrass i actually really like the bag. it is sturdy and has perfect room for all of my magic cards in cases with room to spare !! i would recommend this backpack to EVERYONE !!
what about bottom padding ... if i put it on normal ground .. will the laptops touch the ground ?? i am having that problem for my present backpack ... it seems like it has low bottom padding. Plz help , thanks ...
Good question. I will do a thorough review of padding later on. I set my bag down a lot but I'm careful with it. Didn't notice an issue but I'll look at it later and let you know.
Bottom padding is not so great. However, plenty of room for adding your own. I would not make that a deal breaker at all. I have a 17 inch laptop and there's plenty of room to add padding if needed. I set bag down carefully usually and don't need to bother. You can easily put some padding there and not even feel a difference space wise.
Thanks for the detailed review, Sir. How is your bag holding up? have you noticed any sign of wear and tear? I carry books and folders with my Macbook Air 13". Do you think it's safe to carry Macbook with heavy books and folders provided the padding in that bag? I have just recently ordered this bag.
I still love the bag. I actually ordered another one finally. This beast holds my giant scientific laptop. It’s like the biggest laptop ever. Ha ha. Hate the laptop but love the backpack.
Definitely will. I mean depends on how many clothes but I pack trips all the time and have plenty of room. I'm always carrying two laptops, an extra screen and a bunch of peripherals.
I don't know. They are strong and have never giving me an issue. Even after years of abuse. The only complaint is that they are loud when they clank against each other. I wish there was a rubber cover or something over them.
+Chetas Patil I use it every single day and it's solid. Just did another review here. devgin.com/swissgear-travel-gear-scansmart-backpack-1900-review-amazon/ It did rip but I put so much in there like metal and sharp objects. Totally nothing meant for a backpack. Sharp edges and stuffed like no other finally put a hope in it. But I still use it daily.
Hi again Well, as I have seen the problem with the newest Alienware 17 R4 is this laptop is slightly wider in order to have a slim body but with a efficient exhaust area. Old Alienware 17: 48.46 mm x 299.00 mm x 413.56 mm New Alienware 17: 29.99 mm x 332.00 mm x 424.00 mm I bought a ScanFast Checkpoint Friendly Backpack 2.0 My Alienware R4 (lastes version) fits on the laptop compartment... but not in the Checkpoint Friendly pouch. I don't know if Swissgear 1900 will fit my Alienware. Thanks for your time.

*his second laptop i meant to say.
4 years later, still holding strong? I am considering buyin it, would like to know!
great review, this is exactly what i was looking for. not only was it what i was looking for, it was very articulate and got right to the point, so i didn't need to scroll through half the video to see what features the backpack had. thanks for posting!
this is how a review should be done. that is why no thumb down at all.
Thanks. I just noticed that. Woohoo! I want to do more reviews but finding time is hard. By the way, this bag has been treating me right for months now. I load it up solid too. No issues at all. Thank you for taking the time to do this! Best video tour of this bag by far.
Thank you sooo much Mark. Fantastic review - very helpful! Very easy to understand and incredibly thorough especially the way you explained every little function of the pack. One of the best reviews I have ever seen on RUclips. I am off to Amazon to buy one now. Thanks again! :)
I need to do more reviews. Yeah I hate not seeing the products being used in real life. I use that bag everyday and had no issues at all.
I think this is the newer model of the one I have. The main difference is that this one completely folds down. Which is perfect for traveling through TSA.

Great review! You've done a man's job, sir. Just what I needed to see.
Best presentation, so far no one has given the real experience when you the have the bag. That point really interesting.
+TV Suresh I've been using the bag now for a few weeks carrying a boat load of books and multiple laptops. Everything is still working great.
I like that bag so much, very roomy and nice looking too, I usually load it with groceries and walk home from a grocery store
nice and informative review, good work
I just got one. I use it for my NINTENDO SWITCH, STEAM DECK, and Laptop. Plus power cords and all that good stuff
One of the best most thorough videos I've seen on this bag. Thank you, just ordered mine!
Thanks. It's always nice to see what it's like full of things. I just traveled on airline with it today. Didn't try the hassle free laptop scan thing. But the ease of taking out laptop was nice.
+Katie T Did your bag come in? How do you like it so far?
It was out for delivery yearerday but we are having a winter storm here in the Midwest so they couldn't deliver and roads are bad/non passable today so hopefully tomorrow! :)
Great video, the Best I've seen, Thank you. Going to purchase for my son for High School.
Did you end up getting one? How does he like it?
Wonderful review for those who needs it. Just ordered one and hope it'll arrive soon. Seems like a very nicely built laptop for all folks!
I've had this on my Wish List. Your review helped me decide it's the right bag for me. Great job reviewing!
Wonderful review. What catches and impresses the eye is true practical demonstration. Too good. Whoever watches this video and purchase this backpack from Amazon reviewer should be paid few bucks by Swiss Gear cause am buying after watching this helpful video. Lol. Good job
the best review i've seen of anything. Thanks man
That's awesome. I made this so long ago, too. I have the backpack with me right now in Colombia.
Going back to school at 27 years old my body isn’t what it used to be, have been using a side bag and I’m getting major lower back pain. Hoping this backpack will be an improvement carrying my laptop and a few books
Did you end up getting it?
Thanks for uploading the video. Very detailed review of each and every feature and pockets.
Pleasure. 😍😍
You going to get one?
Best review I have seen so far!
I was hesitated between samsonite and swiss! With your video, definitely buy Swiss Thank you so much 😊
Did you end up getting it? What do you think?
Excellent review. Just what I was looking for.
Glad it helped. The bag is still holding strong for me!
Great review Bro, thanks. Just bought this backpack after your video to carry my new Asus ROG Scar II laptop.
Nice. Let me know how you like it when you get a chance. One thing I’d like is quieter zippers lol. Like when you walk they ding. The small things. Ha.
Great review. My red and black SwissGear bag should be coming tomorrow. Looking forward to using it.
How do you like the bag so far? What are your thoughts?
+Mark Gingrass I love this thing! I love the fact that it holds my Apple 17 inch laptop as well. The amount of pockets is perfect. So many places to place things. Sometimes I forget where I put something. Great bag!! Again, you did a great job in describing the bag.
I believe what you thought was a half divider inside was actually made to fold down onto the bottom of that pocket to make it sit flat and open.
That's interesting. I'm going to go try this right now.
very good video! just ordered this backpack and this made me feel good about my purchase. excited for it to come in the mail soon.
Great video can I have your wheat germ box on the top shelf behind ypu next to the little flower pots?....lol
Best backpack rev... best review I've seen in a long time my friend.
+Mr Green, always trying to keep it real! Lol. Did you end up getting one?
@@MarkGingrass not yet. I will by the end of the month.
Great review. I was looking for a video that would show me pretty much the weight capacity of this backpack. I love it for bike riding all that was a little big but I like the fact that I can put several items in it. And again great job simple to the point good video
My biggest complaint is how loud the zippers clang when I walk with it. Guess that just mean they are industrial strength!
Buying one for dad for xmas now. Great video. Thx dude . Send this man a backpack Swissgear!
Thanks for the kudos! I still love this backpack!
I LOVE THIS REVIEW! MOST THOROUGH SHIT I'VE SEEN IN MY QUEST FOR A NEW WORK BAG
Snagged for $50 on prime day. Watched this before I bought it. Nice vid, man.
Nice savings! Ha ha. Good call on prime day!
Did you get the bag yet? How is it?
+Mark Gingrass yeah. I like it a lot. Lots of space. It's got good balance 1 strap or two
Mark Gingrass how much did you paid for it?
Thank you for sharing that. Gave me some ideas to organize my own swissgear backpack (even tho its slightly different from yours). Cheers!
Solid review and walkthrough, thanks Mark!
Thanks. Seems this bag review was a big hit. I still love this bag and use it every day.

+Mark Gingrass after I watched your review, I've decided and bought it from Amazon.. it's on the way at the moment. thanks again mate :)
Thanks for the video!! This will be perfect for what I need!!
Just bought one. Thanks.

good review...nice to have another guy working the camera.
No joke. I need to do more reviews but hard to find the time. Even though it only took 10 minutes. lol
Thanks for the review Mark!
Great review, Thanks.. You just convinced me to buy it.. Was on the fence..
+Kevin Mulligan, awesome. In still rocking mine.
Love your review! I am so glad you opened every compartment too. Just one question, when empty is the bag still somewhat bulky?
Thank you so much for this great review I have decided to go ahead and get this one for travel. laptop, DLSR camera and two gopros with accessories should fit fine in this

Is it able to fit in my ASUS ROG G750JS 17-Inch Gaming Laptop? I am about to start college soon and need a backpack that fits it perfectly.
anyone know what to do with the loose hanging straps off the shoulder straps? the ones with the plastic piece on the end? do those have a purpose or how can they be tucked in?
By far the best review of the bag so far :I have made up my mind to order this; just need to know if this is 1900 or 1923 and what's major difference between the 2? Maybe, you can throw light on that.
This is the 1900 series. Sorry I don't know the difference. Bought from eBags on Amazon for $64.99 prime.
I was thinking the same thing, So have you seen any difference? If yes please reply to this. Thanks
How do you like the bag? Did you get it?
+Mark Gingrass i have it and its so good
good review , one questions - Amazon has descried as "ScanSmart lay-flat technology for the ultimate in laptop-in-case TSA scanning " for this backpack - Did TSA allowed you keep the laptop inside ?
I'm honestly never tried. I just took it out out of habit.
Thanks for your review. I wonder about the weight of the backpack empty.
Next time it's empty I will weigh it. It might have the weight on the site. Not sure.
Thanks mate very good review.
Thank you for a thorough review - I'm getting one now :)
+Kevan Burrows awesome. Mine is still going strong.
Excellent review, thanks!
Thanks! Super helpful video!
Good video! It really helped me in deciding to buy one.
How do you like your bag? Did you receive it yet?
+Mark Gingrass I did and I'm very happy with it! Thanks again!
A very detailed review. thanks!!
Do you still have the backpack? Is it still in good condition? Love the review
good review !! new sub and you confirmed my purchase :D thanks !!
How is the bag treating you? What are your thoughts?
+Mark Gingrass i actually really like the bag. it is sturdy and has perfect room for all of my magic cards in cases with room to spare !! i would recommend this backpack to EVERYONE !!
ordering now! I travel a lot and this looks handy
great review. how has the backpack held up so far, do you use it daily?
Does anyone know if it would be sturdy enough to fit a ps4 (original not the pro), a laptop and the games/ appliances (power bricks cords, etc.)
will this fit a 17.3 inch laptop? I'm thinking of getting a laptop that has a 17.3 inch screen and need a new backpack to fit it
Yes it will fit a 17.3'' no problem.
Great Review. I appreciate the information :D
No problem.
Is this the 17-inch or the 19-inch? Nice vid btw!
How is the bag holding up? Can the laptop section be used to hold books instead of a laptop?
The laptop section can definitely hold books if you wanted to.
what about bottom padding ... if i put it on normal ground .. will the laptops touch the ground ?? i am having that problem for my present backpack ... it seems like it has low bottom padding.
+Mark Gingrass thanks man
Well done! Thanks.
Glad you liked it. Let me know how you like it if you end up getting one.
Thx for this vid. I think I found my travel pack.
Nice a bag review with stuff in it.
Thanks. Makes it easier to figure out if it’s the right bag for you. Glad it was helpful.
Thanks. Great review.
Glad you liked it. The real deal lol.
thanx man for this review!
❤️
Did you get one? I plan on doing another backpack review soon.
this would be perfect if it had the buckle that goes across your chest
Thanks for the detailed review, Sir. How is your bag holding up? have you noticed any sign of wear and tear?
I carry books and folders with my Macbook Air 13". Do you think it's safe to carry Macbook with heavy books and folders provided the padding in that bag?
I have just recently ordered this bag.
How would you rate the long term durability?
Lasts for years, no doubt. At least for me.
Did it last well that backpack?
Good review. Thanks.
Can I be used for middle school? Do you think it would hold enough books
+Heads's and Tail's Fishing definitely would hold enough books. Although I feel bad for the kids backs.
thank you
I still love the bag. I actually ordered another one finally. This beast holds my giant scientific laptop. It’s like the biggest laptop ever. Ha ha. Hate the laptop but love the backpack.
what size is the toshiba laptop, 15"?
17 inch toshiba
Will this hold a ps4 pro and controllers and a nintendo switch plus clothes all at the same time?
Definitely will. I mean depends on how many clothes but I pack trips all the time and have plenty of room. I'm always carrying two laptops, an extra screen and a bunch of peripherals.
The storage place for my second laptop is also good for folded clothes to keep from not getting wrinkled.
Watching this gave me anxiety... you damn near bout had ONE laptop.
Ha ha. I've used it a lot since then. I have put 3 laptops in there easily lol.
I need a backpack bigger than this that’s swssgear
Bigger? Hmmm. This one is pretty big. I'd be interested to see what you came up with.
Can a 15.6" Alienware laptop fit in it?
Easily yes. My Toshiba is 17'' and it fits easy.
This is a good review..
are the zippers YKK?
I don't know. They are strong and have never giving me an issue. Even after years of abuse. The only complaint is that they are loud when they clank against each other. I wish there was a rubber cover or something over them.
Thx!
how is bag now ?
+Chetas Patil I use it every single day and it's solid. Just did another review here. devgin.com/swissgear-travel-gear-scansmart-backpack-1900-review-amazon/
It did rip but I put so much in there like metal and sharp objects. Totally nothing meant for a backpack. Sharp edges and stuffed like no other finally put a hope in it. But I still use it daily.
Will this backpack fit my new alienware 17,3"?
I have read in Amazon Alienware 17 R4 won't fit. So far I haven't found other mention about it.
Lehi Del Bosque I'll see if I can take some photos tonight. I've never had an issue with my 17 inch laptop.
Thanks, that would be great.
Hi again
Well, as I have seen the problem with the newest Alienware 17 R4 is this laptop is slightly wider in order to have a slim body but with a efficient exhaust area.
Old Alienware 17: 48.46 mm x 299.00 mm x 413.56 mm
New Alienware 17: 29.99 mm x 332.00 mm x 424.00 mm
I bought a ScanFast Checkpoint Friendly Backpack 2.0 My Alienware R4 (lastes version) fits on the laptop compartment... but not in the Checkpoint Friendly pouch. I don't know if Swissgear 1900 will fit my Alienware. Thanks for your time.
thanks for the reply, i actually bought the freebiz backpack and it fits perfectly
great review
Is the bag waterproof ?
+Ankush Sharma no. Water resistantant but not water proof.
