    Chepkoech would have won in 2017 as well but ran around the water jump and had to stop, turn around, run back about 15m, make another U-turn and then go over the water jump with no run up to it. She was almost 40m behind and had to run hard to get back in the race and finish 4th but it would have been a clear win otherwise. The next year she showed how dominant she was setting the WR and now she solidified that dominance in Doha with this convincing victory.

    • @Bitshitter
      @Bitshitter 2 года назад

      No one knows if she would have won. She made a huge gain after that brain freeze - when the lead group was making the short turn into the water jump, at least two runners almost tripped over Chepkoech who was seemingly more focused on the stands - they were making the turn, but she was staying wide with the wide turn, and almost crossed them up.
      But a huge reason for WHY Chepkoech made that big gain to get into the lead group again, was not long after that miss-up, a group of the trailing runners ahead of Chepkoech stumbled over a steeple jump that she was able to avoid, which opened a lane for Chepkoech to move up from the trailing group and give her a chance to catch back up. So had that trailing group NOT had that pile-up AFTER Chepkoech's mistake, she would have had a much more troublesome road ahead of her to get as close to the lead again, than what she ultimately had.
      Best to give credit to the runners who actually finished ahead of her, who ran technically efficient races and focused on the path ahead of them, which Chepkoech clearly did not do.....

      That must not have gone unnoticed by the Kenyans.

    These commentators need to research on how athletes names are pronounced in the athletes native language. Who is Kepkoek?

    • @mirandaal4541

      You guys are displaying ignorance on here. Kenyan journalists pronounce foreign names wrongly all the time. Besides, I can bet you can't even pronounce Beatrice Chepkoech's first name correctly, if the pronunciation of that name by the majority of Kenyans is anything to go by. I speak as a Kenyan myself.

    • @muigwamichael9837
      @muigwamichael9837 Год назад

      @mirandaal4541 the difference is that they are professionals. It's common knowledge in commentary that names are supposed to be pronounced in the original/owner's language. They're paid to do such kind of research.
