We also have mixed Sanskrit and Lao names like Raja- Rajavong or Rajaphoumy or Maha- Mahakeo or Mahavong, Kissana-Krishna. I even have a cousin with the last name Hanuman spelled Haneuman. Later in 11 AD, The Bagan Kindom arise in Irrawady River Valley at the heart of Burma (Myanmar). The Kingdom was organized and established by the King Anawratha, who conquered the Mon Kindom (Suvanabumi) for consistently denying to give him Tri Pittakat, The Theravada Scriptures. And the King asked His Vernerable Arahan, the Great Buddhist Monk to come to Bagan and teach and mentor Theravada Buddhism and Scriptures and Practises to His People of Bagan.
Thanks to the Great Contributions of His Vernerable Monk Arahan, The Theravada Buddhism florish in Bagan and all people of Bagan cherished and practised The Buddha Teachings and became devoted insightful Buddhists. They also built over 20000 Magnificent Temples and Stupas and Pagodas throughout the Irrawady Valley.
Unfortunately, weathered and conditioned by the time and the Impermannce, There only now left 2000 pagodas throught Bagan Ancient City at the Heart of Myanmar (Burma).

In 1 BC to 9 BC, there were Pyu City States (Sri Ksetra, Vissano, Hanlin #UNESCO)
arisen throughout Upper to Lower Myanmar and the Suvanabumi City State(Thaton, city of Mon People) around now Mawlamying City (Moulmein) of Mon State, Myanmar.
Pyu People are the so polite and tender devoted Buddhist people who do not perform Capital pubishment at all and there is just few rare small crime like some thief in their city states. When thefs or small crimes happen, the criminal has to comtemplate and admit and remorse at the front of the Magnificent Buddha Image which exists at the center of the City of Sri Kestra for days and then he may be released.
Pyu Songs are mostly about Natural Beauties, Natures and the Dhamma, the Impermanent of Life and theBuddha and his Omniscience and the The Wisdom.

Theravada Buddhism whose ultimate goal is Nirvana, the End of all Sufferings, by the Practice of Vipassana, the Concentrated Meditation upon Mental and Physical Occurances and Impermanences and Theravada Monks has to be strictly abid by strict rules 220 set by The Buddha, is different from Mahayana Buddhism which belive and focus on Buddisaddha Philosophy and Reincarnations and others like Shaolin Martial arts or practices.
Theravada Buddhism prospers and florishes in Myanmar, Thailand, Srilanka, Cambodia. Mahayana Buddhism prospers and florishes in East Asian countries China, Japan, Korean, Vietnam and the Tibetan Plateau, Nepal and India, the latter are the birth place of The Buddha and Buddhism.

Besides the run-through tourist well known Landmarks Shwedagon Pagoda, Bagan, Kyeithteey(known as Golden Rock), Inle lake pagodas, Ngapali beach, there are deep so much more more Behind-the-Scenes Stories and Aspects of Myanmar which are worthy to know and cherish and love.
Theravada Buddhism, daily Social lives, the ancient and modern (after ww2) political and econmomic conditions that Myanmar people pass through, Inside Struggles and Forces, Outside Forces and Pressures, Sandwiched Among the Struggling People who knows nth abt politics and globalization nor technology insightfully but who live a simple life, face to face the economic congestion.
Myanmar (The Burma, Buddhist Land) gave the world Really Ethical and Contributive Self-Clear-Conscious Wise Gentlemen and Ladies thanks to Theravada Buddhist Belief System and Morality and Enlightenment. For the very best examples U Thant (Mr. Thant, whose meaning the clean man at heart and physicality), the 3rd General Secretary of UN in the Cold War Time, who pacifiy USA and USSR, cease the Mounting conditions for WW3, the Great Peace Maker, without whose efforts There will be a WW3, Nuclear War. He was so much in demand and asked for 3rd time but acc.to regulations, A man can be Secretary General for 2 times. So he refused and retired.
Now that When Myanmar undergoes her Low time and isolation, UN's actions are not helpful for the real people of real Myanmar at the real-life real-day-to-days.
Great Behind-the-scenes Stories are no othet than but having Great Theravada Practising Vernerable Monks who can be said to have attained Enlightenment and Niravana by practising Meditation alone in Forests and Nowhere Lands away from civilizations, abiding to Strict Precepts of a Theravada Buddhist Monk, teaching and Mentoring Meditation Practises.
Great Monks who well educated with Pali Scriptures including Suttas and "Abidhamma", and teach and lecture the People who crave for Knowledge and the Dhamma of The Buddha.
There are so many more Great Vernerable Monks who are well good at demonstrating and teaching Vipassana Meditation and Buddhist Practical Practises.
    E.g. Pha-Auk Meditation Center.
The Great Monks can communicate with Foreigners and Teaches and Lectures in English.
Myanmar is an unexplored, unrealized, undiscovered, unobserved, Land of Misunderstanding coz of Lack of communication with outside for well over 65 years, opposite with The Doing of Thailand.

Just my point of view about this documentary. Maybe the author wanted to make it shorter or just an overview about Buddhism between India and South East Asia. The author has more information about Buddhism in Myanmar, Thailand and Laos but less information about Buddhism in Cambodia and Vietnam. Cambodia received Buddhism in the 2nd secondary AD and co-existed with Hindu until today and reached the high peak in the 12 century AD long before the state of Ayuthya ( Present Day Thailand) and in the 1950s and1960s. The Cambodian map here is also not accurate. Vietnam has two main sects of Buddhism Tharavada and Mahayana. Southern Vietnam or Hochimin (Prey Norkor city, previous Khmer territory), where many Cambodian ethnic follows Tharavada and Vietnam ethnic follows Mahayana while the Northern Vietnam tends to follow the Mahayana.

Why was Sri Lanka omitted from this video, was it done on purpose or due to lack of knowledge on your part. I hope you are aware of the fact that Buddhism was introduced to Sri Lanka by the son and daughter of King Asoka. In fact there is a sapling of the Bodhi tree in Sri Lanka that was brought by King Asoka,s daughter and it is recorded as one of the oldest trees in the world. And the Temple of the tooth is where one of Buddha,s molars is enshrined. Every year Sri Lankan,s parade this tooth relic in veneration to Lord Buddha in probably the most colorful parade in whole of South East Asia. It is also recorded in history that Buddhism was introduced to several south Asian countries from Sri Lanka specially Thailand.

+Virak Thong Shia is not Islam . i dont considered them to be Muslim . Iranian always hate Islam thats why they will tell you lies history about Islam . Read Islamic History in Indonesia . Thats the different story . Remember we are Indonesian used to be Buddhist nation under Srivijayan Empire . But then our Last King , Parameshvara , converted to Islam and started Malaccan Empire then the rest of Srivijayan people become Muslim . Javanese Hindus Last Emperor Bravijaya V also converted to Islam and started a new Islamic Sultanate of Demak and started Islamization of Java Island . So there is compulsion of people here in Indonesia to be a Muslim . My Malay clan is called Bodi-Chaniago that meaning " Good Buddhist Trader" . So that mean me too descent from Buddhist people who converted to Islam . today 99% of Malay people are Muslim . 92% of Javanese people are Muslim . 87% people of Indonesia are Muslim . And we are the largest majority Muslim country in the Whole World surrounded by Asian Buddhist nation
