    We lost our navigation 40 years ago 😭. Can't believe it. Some of our ancestors didn't want to pass down how to sailing navigation.

      Alson Kelen used traditional Marshallese skills to navigate from Majuro to Aur a few years ago.

      He probably knew just the bit of it. The last person I knew he had a full knowledge of it was Captain Billimon from Ujea. 99% all Marshallese know him. That was the last Navigator.

      @@ri-jaluit1672 Highly doubt you’re “pure” there’s no such thing as purity in Oceania.There are few remaining navigators and boat builders left who worked with scientists to preserve the sacred knowledge.Amongst them was Korent joel.The tradition has been revived.Below are all the techniques our ancestors used to navigate across the vast ocean.
      1-Ñōl meto(cean swells)
      2-Ae meto(Ocean currents)
      3-Jedjed iju(Astronomy)
      4-Lojet kakōlle(Sea mark)
      5-Wapepe(Stick chart)
      6-Katu/Kōbbaal(Meteorology)
      7-Katak bao(Ornithology:Observation of birds)
      8-Katak euk(Ichthyology:Observation of fish)
      9-No Mōt(Wave pilot)

      Thousands of American Marines died and were wounded freeing the Marshall Islands from the Japanese. I haven't kept up with the history of the Islands since the war.

      @@Dr.Pepper001 freed to be imprisoned again. At least during the Japanese era Marshallese still could live independently and traditionally… Americans came and changed all that… Marshallese now depend on the U.S for survival… and that is what the U.S had planned from the get go.

      @@gabrielamalaya5947 Filipinos in the U.S. try very hard to identify with the whites and are just as racist as white and Mexican Americans. I married a Filipina so I know first hand; a wonderful people but terribly neo-colonialist.

      Uh.....Both Micro&Polys are Asian through DNA sharing little to no genetics with Melanesians.We're Austronesian.But are by far different than any other Asian groups.Melanesians are a different story.

    Micronesia, Polynesia, and Indonesia are misnomers from Europeans. Collectively, you're all Austronesians.
