I love Sands of Time. And the lore flavor of this card interaction (Teferi's home continent of Zhalfirin still being phased out to this day because Teferi wanted to protect it) is actually amazing.
Saving Grace is also nice in any deck w/ a Monarch theme because it prevents you from losing the crown. Especially nice in mono white or Boros where drawing cards may be difficult, especially if you commander doesn't die to these effects like Cho-Manno or Risona
Scouting Trek also works well with Animists Awakening. You can pay G and X to put exactly X lands from your deck into play, untapped (if you have just one more instant or sorcery in your GY already and cast Scouting Trek beforehand).
scouting trek in a lands matter deck is obviously gonna be a house, but a good way to break it is cultivator colossus from crimson vow ;) just put all your basics to the top, play the colossus, and get every basic in your deck into play tapped. and then just win from there with your massive amount of landfall shit that will likely already be in there, or find a way to untap em and shoot a big x spell out there. azusa, aesi, angry jelly bean, tatyova, the list goes on. any of those commanders will LOVE the scouting trek/colossus combo for instant value. of course, abundance/colossus is already a thing, but this is a good backup if you haven't found your abundance or a way to search it out of your deck yet mid-game
I previously put Scarab of the Unseen in my Galea deck. Love to give old cards new life. Was not aware of Scars of the Veteran...I think I'll include it in the Felisa deck I'm building.
I actually have another card from this list, Saving Grace, in my Felisa deck. Opponent swings at you, you prevent it all and kill off one of your creatures with tons of counters on it. Its essentially a cheaper to cast inksheild.
Yeah,it's especially great paired with Boros Reckoner type creatures, think the other one is True fire Paladin? any damage dealt to them is reflected to opponents great way to surprise win
Hey been trying out this card 1 black mana enchantment aura called "Vampiric Link" - it's a way for the owner to gain life whenever enchanted creature deals damage. It can work with an opponents creature as well. You will gain the life when it deals damage. Also, works with ability damage 👍🏼
For Sands of Time, it could go in maybe a heavy enchantment focus build or those who favor Planeswalkers. Estrid, the Masked, Gideon, Martial Paragon, and Jace, Ingenious Mind-Mage come with some untap abilities that can get around the tap down.
Scouting Trek works great with the Ayula's Influence + Path of Discovery combo. I made a casual 60 card deck based on that combo and need to get Scouting Trek in there.
Great list! Scouting Trek would also be great to play before a Cultivator Colossus. I picked up a Savage Summoning as soon as I read it, it's like Quicken for creatures but better. Also grabbed a Sands of Time as I feel any card with "skip your untap step" can be pretty broken. I really want to make a phasing deck, phase out my opponents stuff (just wish there was more support for that), because they phase back in during the Untap Step, which if skipped keeps them phased out. lol
Yes I thought of Cultivator Colossus immediately when I saw Scouting Trek, if you have a Scute Swarm out when you get those lands out… that would be awesome
Savage summoning as well as "Insist" (sorcery 1G mana, Next creature you play cant be countered, draw a card) keep my borborygmos or key pieces on that deck from being interrupted by my friends blue decks. it even save me from a Planar chaos once jejej. love it.
Speaking of cards that should go in Dennick, wondering if you considered Martyred Rusalka or Kami of False Hope, both seem almost autoincludes in that strategy.
Saving Grace reminded me of Simulacrum, which is now a lot less useful than it was when printed due to the rules for player death. In the original rules, players did not die to lethal damage until the end of a phase, so you could cast Simulacrum after having taken lethal damage and save yourself.
Scouting Trek could be really interesting in Radha that plays lands off the top of the library, I run almost every additional land drop card but even then I don't know if it's worth it
In this video with the sands of time you mentioned mana burn.. last time I played was 15 years ago where man and burn was still applied. I think with Commander them taking this away was just another way of making weak players. You might as well just have no maximum hand it's the same concept. I really think Commander players need to toughen up a little bit. I see a lot of weak players that can't take board wipes, control decks and so forth. I think there is a artifact I believe it's called Vexing Puzzle box... basically states that whenever you tap for Mana roll a 20 sided dice put that many counters on it. When vexing puzzle box has a 100 counters on it.. search your library for any artifact and put it into play. This in itself isn't right I think as far as gameplay is concerned and the mechanics and how that should be. Had a particular game where some lady had her vexing puzzle box out there and kept tapping it at the end of her turn even though she wasn't casting anything to put the counters on it. Well she was about at 89 maybe even up in the 90s and I know she was so what did I do.. Mr social himself, I bored wiped it with a Jokulhaups.. of course it's upset her very much to the point to where she scooped and walked away. While commenting twice thank you for destroying all my stuff. I said no problem sorry it happened. Needless to say this young lady won't play with me no more because she hasn't got the gumption to continue playing when the game doesn't go your way. I didn't win the game, the other two players were about ready to do the same but they stood their ground and took me out. As usual but this is one thing I don't like about this game is the political part of the game. I for one don't ask for help in the game if I can't handle it with the deck I have then I got to change some cards. Make the adjustments. That's why I think Mana Burns should not have been taken away in this game it makes wimpy players
Scouting Trek works well before playing a Cultivator Colossus, since you can play out the lands from the draw, put them all into play, make Cultivator that big with it.
Love the video, I gotta ask, what software do you use/how do you make your videos the way they do? I like how they flow and want to do something similar as I'm looking into making mtg content as well.
Could see scapegoat doing some work in my mavinda deck if I don't have something like eerie interlude in hand or my graveyard. Scouting trek and Cultivator Colossus would be pretty nuts as well.
I tried Scourglass in my Osgir deck, but killing Osgir hurts too much. I’d use it in a deck where my commander is an artifact creature, like Alibou, if I had one.
with Scourglass i can't believe heroic intervention effects weren't mentioned with this and sands of time i know its techniqially covered with Twanos but Activated abilities is fun with this infact you can do the exact same thing with Lithoform Engine or Strionic Resonator
Scourglass used to be super heavily played in artifact decks, back when Sharuum was the premier artifact commander. Now-a-days though there's so many other lower cmc and/or stronger artifact commanders, especially in non-White colors, that Scourglass has fallen out of favor.
lol Sands of Time, the one card that stops stasis friends were talking about what can bet it grandpa me says sands of time its that simple them what is that?
Sands of Time hoses Teferi’s Protection or any phasing ability. No Untap Step means nothing phases in as phasing in happens during the untap step.
That is actually pretty funny. Someone plays one of the best protection cards in the game but die in the process :D

scouting trek is really good with cultivator colossus

I wanted to write the exact same thing :)

I used to use scouting trek in borborgymos. With something like keen sense on him. Throw land, draw card, oh look a land! Throw land…. Etc
Oooh
Nivmizzet but with land, I dig it
@@asurethedm now I use abundance instead of scouting. It’s better. Also I don’t have the host of basics in deck anymore to justify

Scouting trek works sooo good with cultivator colossus. I have that and abundance in my obuun deck and it's an over-performer
The fact he didn't see it going with collossus + landfall trigger made me mad.
The simic ooze too
Saving grace is incredible with ghen. No one expects it, but you always have an use for it.
Yeah,it's especially great paired with Boros Reckoner type creatures, think the other one is True fire Paladin? any damage dealt to them is reflected to opponents great way to surprise win
How can all opponents pay for scarwood bandit? It says “artifact’s controller must pay” otherwise, good list!
That's what says on the printed card, but in gatherer you have the text "unless an opponent pays {2}..." So, any opponent can pay.
Hey been trying out this card 1 black mana enchantment aura called "Vampiric Link"
- it's a way for the owner to gain life whenever enchanted creature deals damage. It can work with an opponents creature as well. You will gain the life when it deals damage. Also, works with ability damage 👍🏼
Enchant Thrashing Wumpus with equipped Darksteel Plate and you shoot the entire board and win the game 🤓
For Sands of Time, it could go in maybe a heavy enchantment focus build or those who favor Planeswalkers. Estrid, the Masked, Gideon, Martial Paragon, and Jace, Ingenious Mind-Mage come with some untap abilities that can get around the tap down.
Scouting Trek works great with Cultivator Colossus if you have a Scute Swarm or Rampaging Baloths (or any other lands matter card) out :)
Scouting Trek works great with the Ayula's Influence + Path of Discovery combo. I made a casual 60 card deck based on that combo and need to get Scouting Trek in there.
Had Scourglass in my Servo tribal deck back in the day. Might have to dust it off again now
I don't believe an opponent can pay the 2 on Scarwood Bandits: "Unless target artifact's controller pays 2.. etc"
He's reading the oracle text. Which states any opponent can pay.
I found scouting trek for my landfall deck, that way I can keep playing lands with my "play an additional land each turn" cards.
Great list!
Scouting Trek would also be great to play before a Cultivator Colossus.

Scouting trek + Snake umbra or Keen sense (With Borbo again*)
Speaking of cards that should go in Dennick, wondering if you considered Martyred Rusalka or Kami of False Hope, both seem almost autoincludes in that strategy.
saving grace seems really cool in a boros reckoner/brash taunter deck, which seems it could fit in jared.
scouts warning has helped me win a few times with upkeep triggers, especially Felidar Guardian
I really like the old artifacts in brown border. They had such an antique design. Aka they were artifacts. Let's bring them back!
Lots of videos keep up the good work, Dinner!
Dello or demo? ** Sorry I don't know the name of the narrator

Definitely windmill slamming sands of time into my boat deck.
I run Scourglass in my Breya artifact creature deck. When done right, it works as a one sided boardwipe.
I feel like he's trying to get us to build jared

Scouting trek and Cultivator Colossus would be pretty nuts as well.
Savage summoning was a savage opening!
For the treasure hunt and Scouting trek add new wren and seven and 0 for all them in play 😁
Sands of time goes well in Yurlok and Katilda, for different reasons.
Ooh i'd love to see you do a Tawnos deck
Gideon's Sacrifice is an alternative to Saving Grace if you're looking for a second one or you don't care about it being an aura or the +0/+3.
I tried Scourglass in my Osgir deck, but killing Osgir hurts too much. I’d use it in a deck where my commander is an artifact creature, like Alibou, if I had one.
Ooh scourglass looks good for my new vehicle deck and leave my commander as well.
scars of the veteran is quite good in the new bants counter maters decks like falco or the precon
with Scourglass i can't believe heroic intervention effects weren't mentioned with this
and sands of time i know its techniqially covered with Twanos but Activated abilities is fun with this infact you can do the exact same thing with Lithoform Engine or Strionic Resonator
Saving grace with that mono red goblin that when it's dealt damage deals that much damage to the player that dealt damage to it.
Scarwood Bandits says the artifact’s controller has to pay the mana. Was there errata saying “any opponent”?
Starwood Bandits says the artifacts controller has to pay, which makes it even better so they can't be saved by others.
Sands of Time with Verity Circle in my Ojutai, Soul of Winter deck
Scourglass used to be super heavily played in artifact decks, back when Sharuum was the premier artifact commander. Now-a-days though there's so many other lower cmc and/or stronger artifact commanders, especially in non-White colors, that Scourglass has fallen out of favor.
Sands of time with equipoise.... One really mean combo.
another option for Saving Grace effect is Gideon's Sacrifice
Ok. Swords if time is going in my mana burn deck. Ngl thats pretty good.
Dunno why you said anyone can pay the 2 for scarwood bandits. It says on the card the artifacts controller needs to pay the 2
Scouring Trek and Lost in the Woods combo lol
Hehe Saving Grace + Stuffy Doll. :)
Sands of Time in an Urabrask the Hidden deck? 👀
Scouting Trek with Radha?
is there a savage summoning - ish card in blue or white?
it's literally the next card.
@@edhdeckbuilding sorry i meant the uncounterable part :)
savage summoning seems insane. surpsied this isn't a cedh card
Considering Elvish Spirit Guide is already available for instant speed free green mana you'd think it would be part of a Oracle Consultation package
I can't believe Savage summoning isn't in every green deck that runs creatures lmao
Saving Grace in a Stuffy Doll deck? 😂
I play scapegoat in my God-Eternal Oketra deck. Sac a zombie token ans save my whole board
Just make sure not to have City of Brass in the Tawnos-Sands of Time deck. 😂
A very flashy episode indeed
I was expecting Quicken to be #3
lol Sands of Time, the one card that stops stasis friends were talking about what can bet it grandpa me says sands of time its that simple them what is that?
Funnily most cards started with S
Yeah, he does these in alphabetical order
First?
