- A lot of warbird action from Thursday's AirVenture 2019 air show. Rod Lewis' newly rebuilt deHavilland Mosquito makes a fast pass. Then count all the P-51 Mustangs flying in a salute to World War Two Mustang Ace Col. Bud Anderson, who attended AirVenture 2019 at Oshkosh. There's even a rare P-51H in the mix. B-25s put in an appearance, and a heritage formation features an F-22, F-35, and two P-51s in several formation passes. Enjoy! Have you subscribed to the Airailimages Channel on RUclips? We appreciate it. And here's a link to another Oshkosh 2019 video from the Airailimages Channel: • Oshkosh: Rat-Racing F-...
This video is part of the Airailimages Airshow America collection.
Would have loved to see more of the Mosquito!!!
I attended Oshkosh a few times in the '90's, and I knew I'd arrived at a special place when the two P-51's doing formation passes down the runway. painted in Anderson and Yeager's wartime schemes, were being flown by the men themselves. Glad Col. Anderson could attend this year.
I read in Col. Anderson's book a story of him telling of a flight exactly like that, very very cool indeed.
Awesome , the most beautiful and sweetest sound aircraft in the world . Love those Merlin power plants..
The Mosquito is my favourite aircraft of all time, and in my view the greatest plane of its time.
Given it's unrivalled range of abilities, AND achievements, it has no equals.
@soaringtractor The U.S.A. did not have a comparable aircraft to the Mosquito. No U.S. designed and built aircraft was as remarkabley versatile as the Mosquito - which is why the USAAF used them in the P.R. role in Europe.
Met Bud Anderson a few years ago. My youngest daughter and Bud talked for about 10 or 15 minutes or so . Really nice guy.
The deHavilland Mosquito and the Fairy Firefly , P-51s included awesome . Thank you .
You are welcome! Thank you for watching the Airailimages Channel.
Most Awesome video! Thanks so much for bring this to all Americans. Past and Present. What a show and I'm sure Col. Bud Anderson would be smiling ear to ear. Thanks so much! Not only for this video but for all the videos that you bring us to enjoy.
You are very welcome. Thanks for watching.
That Mosquito is simply beautiful!
In the slow motion sequence of the Mosquito pass you can clearly see the four Brownings in the nose, the four gun ports of the 20mm Hispano cannon and the attachment points under the outer the wing for the 60lb rockets which made this version of the Mosquito so lethal in the anti-shipping role.
That just made my year. Mossie Magic and Mustangs...never too many Merlins (Firefly too!)
@HiWetcam Right! Thanks!!
Col. Bud Anderson credited with 16 and a quarter kills in WWII. I would like to shake his hand. He is of the "Greatest Generation".
Bud spoke to our Friends of the American Fighter Aces meetings many times. Amazing stories of air combat he shared.
Love these fantastic American and British planes. That won freedom for so many.
A fitting tribute to bud who at wars end was only 23 years old now a very sprightly 97 respect to all who served and serve and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice
The Mosquito is one of the most beautiful aircraft designs ever
and deadliest
fantastique Mosquito j'espere en voir un en france un jour!! et tous ces Mustang wahooo!!!!
merçi a bientot
Vous êtes toujours la bienvenue. Merci d'avoir regardé et commenté.
Outstanding images, thank you. I’d have liked to see more of the Firefly, it’s more rare than even the Mosquito or P-51K. Such a shame that more P-51 owners don’t fit the pilot’s back armour. The aircraft looks less authentic without it.
That Mosquito just came off a 10 million dollar restoration.... Beautifully done. 4:10 - P51H for the win!
No it was not a 10 million dollar restoration. 4 not 10.
@@dllmpb06 Well EAA was incorrect then as that was the figure they listed...
Ultra rare P-51H.
Love the deHavilland Mosquito .They also built here in Canada, MK - X's I believe .
I THINK THE FIRST RESTORED MOSSIE (IN NEW ZEALAND) WAS CANADIAN BUILT. NOW IN THE USA
@soaringtractor
Of the 217,520 Merlins that were built, Packard manufactured 55,235. Ford G.B. manufactured 30,428 and Rolls-Royce manufactured the remainder (131,857) at their Derby, Crewe and Glasgow factories.
Packard were chosen because Henry Ford (the original manufacturer of choice) refused to build engines for export to belligerent countries. Packard were second choice.
I knew you'd be posting the best videos from the show. Thank you
Well thank you very much!
Great to see all WW2 planes flying these days, more need to get restored and flying out there
Great job of filming. I love the Mustangs.
Thank you for all your work.
You're welcome!
Goosebumps....P51s with the F22, F35.... just good ol' goosebumps..
3rd August am of to East Kirby Aviation Museum to see the Mosquito and Lancaster , in my opinion two of the best of many aircraft of WWII .
Been to see Just Jane before. Awesome experience, they let you get so close to her too while they run up the engines. I was literally standing under one of the wingtips as they started her up. Will never forget that, and intend to go down and see her again (with a better camera this time) next year.
@@roadsweeper1 I Visted Hamilton Museum, Canada in 2014, stood underneath 'Vera's massive open Bomb Bays, talking to some of the crew who would fly her over to the uk, just a few weeks later. A great experience, and very helpful guys.
Awesome stuff, thanks for posting, nice to finally see a P51 H in action.
This is a DH Mosquito and Fairy Firefly
To begin with
Que preciosidad de imágenes.Uno de vuestros mejores vídeos, me encanta el P 51Mustang en todas sus variantes. Excelente video
Saludos desde España 🇪🇸
Subscribed looking up Col. Bud. Looking for a really good review of the Tribute and footage of his attendance and maybe some footage of him and words. So far I have not found any footage. I've met the man a couple of times in Houston's October Airshow WOH , bought 3 (same) books haha, talked to him for 2 x 20 minutes in the Vets tent, such a gentleman ! Great video , Loved the Mossie ! As a Brit this is so welcome...please make a Mosquito Video - SUBSCRIBED !!!!
Thank you very much! You can believe any time we have an opportunity to make video of the Mosquito, we will do more; a fantastic aircraft in so many ways.
Mosquito brought a tear to my eye....
Lovely planes flying in sky... Heads off
Coulda looped the video of the Mosquito for five minutes, no complaints. Have not been to a public display of more than maybe six Mustangs....wow..began to lose count.
What a great video, guys! Now, does anyone know exactly how many Mustangs are at this year's Air Venture, becsuse, I've read numerous articles saying that Air Venture's planners were inviting every American registered flying Mustang airframe known to exist.

great filming but please no music the sound of those merlins is music to the ears
Thanks for watching and commenting. We'll only use music when the ambient audio is not usable (extreme slow motion replay, or if an air show PA system is playing copyrighted music, etc.)
I usually agree BUT, that Mosquito music was most apt, seeing her in slomo, very tasteful.
There is nothing wrong with the music during the Mosquito slow-mo fly-by
@@MarsFKA ABSOLUTELY---QUITE PERFECTION I'D SAY.
An actual Mosquito? Wow!
Absolutely agree a company in new Zealand made one from original parts and molds now as many mosquitos can be made as long as you have $ 4 million dollars lol
@HiWetcam They didn't, its a mostly new aircraft, with original engines, new wings and fuselage, although the construction methods and materials (right down to the correct type of tree for the plywood) are historically accurate. Go look up "Rod Lewis' de Havilland Mosquito" - in EAA youtube acc, they do a quick but pretty informative section on how it was actually put together
@HiWetcam 'OLD' ??
@@steveholmes5207 I'LL START SAVING RIGHT AWAY--OR--BETTER STILL, CONTRIBUTE TO ''THE PEOPLES MOSQUITO'' PROJECT, WELL UNDER WAY IN THE UK. GOOGLE THEIR NAME.
It's shameful we in the U.K. Don't as far as I know have a air worthy mosquito, my all time favourite plane, great to see so many mustangs flying
With the level of restoration and reconstruction going on, hopefully it is only a matter of time before the UK has a Mosquito flier. What a curiously interesting and sleek machine.
The Mosquito Pathfinder Trust, here in the UK, owns an FBIV (that was actually used to test the Barnes Wallis bouncing bomb), its currently with Avspecs in NZ under restoration back to flying condition, so the UK will have a flying mosquito eventually. Hopefully Just Jane (the lanc in East Kirby) will have been restored to airworthy condition too by then, she's currently relegated to taxi runs only.
@@roadsweeper1 ARE YOU REFERING TO, ''THE PEOPLES MOSQUITO''?, BEING RESTORED FOR FLIGHT, JUST NORTH OF LONDON? IT USED TO BE IN THE De HAVILLAND MUSEUM. SEND YOUR DONATIONS TO THE PROJECT, I HAVE, AND BOUGHT SOME SMART GIFTS FROM THEIR WEBSIGHT. JUST GOOGLE 'PEOPLES MOSQUITO' AND DONATE. NO GOOD WISHING, WITHOUT CONTRIBUTING WHAT YOU CAN.
@@roadsweeper1 IS THAT THE ''PEOPLES MOSQUITO PROJECT, OR A RIVAL ONE ? HOPEFULLY THERE'S TWO ON THE WAY.
Do those engines rotate in the same direction?.......must be a pain to takeoff with that torque.
They do seem to, yes. I'd have thought they'd counter-rotate like the P-38
Kind of annoying they didn’t do any of this flying with the warbirds earlier in the week and just saved it for the weekend. Daily air show at the beginning of the week was very week and dull hardly any warbird flying when it was the year of the warbird!
DH Mosquito was a pet project that came good because Britain became short on metal so DH designed and produced a wooden aircraft that could hold two Merlins and didn't really need guns because NOTHING could get near it.
Could do without the musical accompaniment. Let the sound of the Merlin's do the playing.
Well, Mortimer, we played that scene at normal speed with ambient sound first, then slo-mo which requires different audio. So you do get to hear those Merlins. We hope folks are starting to realize that we use ambient aircraft engine sounds whenever possible. The slo-mo with music gives a chance to ponder the aircraft in detail. We like it that way, and by the general thumbs-up it appears most viewers do. So while we always appreciate sincere comments, from an aesthetic and business standpoint, we are already hitting the sweet spot, and will continue to use ambient engine sounds whenever possible, with music as a backdrop when the ambient can't be used because of things like slow-motion, or commercial music played on a PA system, or other things that can ruin ambient audio. Hope you'll stick around for our style of video-making. And thanks for watching and commenting!
@@airailimages - So what? We can still do without the sound of music and the special effects.
@@airailimages I, for one, love your selections of musical accompaniment when included in any of your videos. Indeed, I was curious about the very piece Mortimer is complaining about. What is it? I tried Shazaming it with no luck. This piece, like everyone you choose, creates a visceral nostalgic feeling, probably just what you were trying to do. I would have thought Mortimer would have had enough common sense to know that sounds during slow motion are not representative of sounds at normal playback speeds.
Thanks for commenting. The music is called Wonderland, and it is from the Audio Blocks catalog.
@@SAOProductions1955 So what would you put in its place? just silence? real life slo-mo audio sounds crap, and nothings like the real thing. Theres a full speed, with real audio pass, then a slo-mo pass for those that want to oogle the mosquito in flight. Works just fine...
