Practice, without allowing yourself to worry about how well you’re doing . You will get better, and in the meantime, it will already be better than normal breathing.

When I try to do this breathing to fall back asleep at night. The counting engages my brain and I awaken even more.
try to to focus on it too much with the rythym. just do your own count if thats easier

Same here but just change the speed of your counting. It doesn’t matter what speed you’re counting. Just keep the same rhythm.
