Elf is killing it right now. A full face of elf with their newer products would be fun. My makeup is slowly moving to mostly elf even over my high end products.
I really appreciate these videos where you try things for a second, third, fourth time. Our experience with a product can vary so much in the first ~10 uses, if for no other reason than products don’t always perform the same as they do when they’re freshly opened.
Maybe brand no one is talking. Neutrogena, Almay, Burts Bees. Or what about a brand like mineral fusion that is at whole foods. Your bracelet is beautiful!
Loved this video, Jen! The classic drugstore brands tend to be less talked about these days. I’d love to see a full face of Clinique, another classic from the past. Or a full face of a brand like Almay that no one ever talks about. Would also love to see a video of your favorite one and done shadow looks 😊
I'm loving the 'less is more' trend of natural looking, simple makeup. Most days I don't want to spend a lot of time on my beauty routine. More of this please.
Glad to see Covergirl getting used. They have been Leaping Bunny certified cruelty free for years, and now have got rid talc in a lot of their products. The Noxema smell is gone from their pressed powder, which is great for sensitive skin ladies like me. I highly recommend the Clean Fresh lip balms, and the new eyeshadow sticks. They even took the talc out of their eye enhancer shadows.
But be aware that the Soft Mink and Instant Cheekbones in Purely Plum that Jen used in the video still have the fragrant ingredients that produce the Noxzema smell in their ingredients lists. Including eucalyptus oil and clove oil which can be very irritating!
@@20thcenturyrelic The soft mink eye enhancer shadow single is being discontinued. The new singles are now talc free. I have several of the new quads, and can now wear powder shadow again. I imagine the cheekers may go that way as well. They have also re-done the clean foundation, no longer in glass bottle but squeeze tube. When I use up my tru-blend I may try it.
Been using CoverGirl since (gulp) the early 1970s. The brand's pressed powder, reeking of that nostalgic Noxema smell, was literally the first makeup product I was allowed to get on my 13th birthday. What memories. Their slogan was "Clean makeup" before clean was a trend and meant something different. In the '90s (I think), CG's plum blush was my go-to. Love the one-brand video and hope you do more this month. Take care!
Me too...I've been using Covergirl, Revlon and L'Oréal for years, their labs and make-up formulas have been working for years and years (I use Olay creams too, which are brilliant) and people pay a fortune for all these new brands, that have just popped up in 5 minutes, just because they have a famous actress or singer slapping their name on it and charging x4 times as much as these older brands, that most of them are tried and true!! In saying that, I like to treat myself with the odd highend brand, or some new craze item... some are worth the money, some not!!
@@lynettefinnigan9540 Many people still believe that all drugstore makeup is bad because it's less expensive. So they automatically opt for department store or luxury brands. It's the power of advertising and brand names, I've been on a tight budget most of my life, so I consider drugstore first. And in some categories, I think drugstore is very competitive. Specifically, mascara, pencils, blushes, lipstick, and powder. (Although I have very dry skin, so I may not be the best person to render an opinion on powder.) Foundation and concealer, ehh, depends on your skin tone and skin type. Eye shadow...drugstore lines lean toward shimmers, so those of us who like mattes are generally out of luck.
When you’re back to buying, I HIGHLY recommend the Cover Girl Lash Blast Volume mascara (in the purple tube). Literally the only mascara I’ve used for a decade, nothing compares. It is so buildable, and the water resistant formula is genius (not fully waterproof so it’s easy to remove, but resistant so it doesn’t smudge or sweat off). I’ve been asked multiple times if my lashes are fake/extensions and they’re not, it’s just the mascara!
I’m still using and loving the pressed powder as foundation since you first recommended it! I like doing tinted SPF and that powder as my foundation during the summer. It’s so flattering! I also love that you mentioned wearing clothes from 5+ years ago. I wear things for years and years regardless of trends.
The CG classic blush in soft mink is my favorite blush. It applies beautifully and doesn't emphasize texture even though it has a slight sheen. I'm sensitive to scents but this one doesn't bother me. I'd love a video on your favorite one and done eyeshadow picks.
I’ve repurchased that Simply Ageless powder twice because you got me hooked on it! Absolutely love it. And I only use Cover Girl out of the big four because it’s cruelty free.
Loving this no buy. I’ve been looking into Catrice and would love to know your favorites from that brand or maybe a full face like this format. Please and thanks! ❤😊
I got the Cover Girl wrinkle blurring powder after watching one of your videos. SO great. Great coverage. Easy to use and travel with. I’ve already repurchased it. Great recommendation. Thank you!
CG Cheekbones in Purely Plum is my go-to! Though I have soooooo many other blushes, it truly is the one I reach for when I want to feel confident and pretty. I am actually wearing it today, even swept it on my eyes, too (which I often do). It’s my absolutely favorite!
I purchased the Outlast Lip Stain and just use it as a lip liner. It is so long lasting because it is a stain. If I use it all over my lips I definitely use a gloss to moisturize.
That CG lip marker is my fave lip liner. I use a very inexpensive JCat beauty lip brush to blend it. You can go straight to your lips but I do top lip first and blend before it sets and then do bottom lip and blend. I never draw a straight line so the brush perfects it, and it does help you cheat it a bit without it looking obvious or overdone. My fave color is natural blush. Then I use whatever moisturizing colored lip product over. My liner lasts a 12hr shift as a registered nurse. I just reapply a tinted lip balm/gloss a couple of times.
I tried doing that after Kelly Gooch showed it on her channel. But the problem is I'm bad at reapplying! So it left a ring around my lips with nothing in the middle after wearing it for a short time. I was horrified when I looked in the mirror. 😂
@@JenPhelps 🤣 I guess the natural blush color is pretty close to my natural lip color (plus I really blend it well) so it really just defines my lips without looking like a liner.
I have been think about a full face of cover girl recently. My first makeup purchase was also cover girl, I enjoy their more natural light weight mascaras.
This was fun to watch, thanks Jen! I've been using my powder foundations a lot lately, most of my liquid ones seem to just sit on top of my skin right now, and honestly, feel gross, lol. So glad you used the Covergirl one, I'd forgotten the name and wasn't sure which was the one you loved so much.
Easy..breezy..Cover girl..absolutely beautiful Jen! Cover girl foundation and Maybelline mascara were my first make up products and I loved them. Great video Jen!❤
Love this look - just perfect for summer. You’ve made me want to pull that powder foundation back out and try it again. Since you mentioned one and done eyeshadows for vacation that might be an idea for a video either favorite one and done shadows or what I packed for vacation.
Thank you so much for this video-especially mentioning that Cover Girl is Cruelty Free!! That mink blush I am going to get and also going to look for the eyeshadow and definitely getting that powder foundation if I can find it! You are saving us money and also reminding us to retry stuff that we think did not work. That blue black mascara looks great too. We had that in the 70s during the "natural look" days!! Fantastic! Princess Diana did it too!
Beautiful look and products 💕 I used soft mink blush all thru high school and I'm 39 now. That's how old that gorgeous product has been around ❤ I am definitely picking up these products..they impressed me..thank you for all your hard work and dedication to your subscribers ❤
Another beautiful look! I’m 66 years old, and I recently purchased the CG Aqua Smooth compact foundation! I love it. It gives beautiful coverage to my old, dry skin! Quick question…what emollient moisturizer would you recommend for me…66 and dry? Specifically for nighttime.
Their Lash Blast mascara (specifically the purple tube; length and volume formula) is my holy grail mascara. Has been for yeeearrrs. I don’t know why no one ever talks about it! It’s not just because of how it applies and wears, it’s because of how is doesn’t smudge at all and ACTUALLY WASHES OFF CLEANLY!! Gah!! I experiment with new mascaras sometimes, and I hate how they don’t wash off easily AND somehow, transfer while I’m wearing it.
I tried that after I saw Kelly Gooch mention it but I didn't like how it outlasted my lipstick and when I looked in the mirror a few hours later I was left with an obvious ring around my mouth with nothing in the middle.
I like those Cover Girl eyeshadows SO much more than the Elf bite sized palettes! The Elf shadows are pretty and go on nicely but on me they don’t last very long.
I love Cover Girl products ! I am definitely going back to their foundation when my stash is used up. I have never used their powder foundation so I will give that one a try too !!! Thanks for doing this !!!
I love powder foundation in the summer. I literally can’t wear liquid or cream because it makes my skin feel suffocated. I try to buy as many as I can to try. I’m going to grab that one and try it.
The soft mink blush was the first blush I ever purchased. It's the only blush I've completely used up multiple times and always have one in my collection. I have this powder and will use it this way tomorrow after being inspired by your video. CG doesn't describe it as as powder foundation, it just says pressed powder, so I've never thought to use it this way, but seeing how well it works for you, I can't wait to try it!
A full face of hard candy or ulta brands(like r.e.m beauty, about face etc..) that you got(of course) or another video of behind the brand CoverGirl would be perfect for the video cause I honestly don't know how long they been around
I enjoyed watching this video - nice to see some love for those brands that have been around for a long time ♥ The pressed powder in those compacts have been a favorite for many. Thanks Jen for sharing 😊 Take care everyone 🌹
Oh, thankyou for showing and reviewing Covergirl makeup! I recall the "old Covergirl" makeup in days of yore. I loved the lipsticks, but the foundation streaked after a few hours, and eyeshadow smudged and faded. But now I have a small collection, and am loving it. I need more! I also love the foundations.
I like the pressed powder foundation Jen. It really looks nice on your skin, in fact it does look just like your skin and air brushed. I also am going to enjoy your no buy month and hope I can do it with you and just use what I already have. Thank you so much Jen.🥰❤
Hi 👋 Jen. I was wondering if you could do a video, or two, giving tutorials on how to wear more daring colours on the eyes.. like 3 looks wearing green or purple, pink is a difficult one i feel. I have so many beautiful pallets that have bright and more bold colours but not sure how to wear them as a day look and night look. You always look so good with so many eyeshadow looks. Anyway,i would appreciate it so much. Love your channel and you are such a lovely lady too. Much love from the UK ❤xxx
That blush reminds me of the RMS blushes I just bought. Cover Girl would be the better value! Can’t wait to rediscover this brand. I use to wear the CG powder foundation in the black compact before discovering RUclips and I got so many compliments on my skin back then.
I recall you saying in another video you suffer from dry hands. I recently purchased the Naturium retinol body lotion and am so impressed! I am a lotion junky and have been using it on my body and hands and my skin has never been softer. My skin is normally very dry and this lasts until my next shower! My husband even commented on how soft my hands are since I started using it. And it’s a pretty blue! lol
I have 2 of the eyeshadow quads and I love them! So easy to blend and the colors are really pretty. I feel like they got almost no buzz when they launched but influencers are starting to talk about them now.
I remember using Soft Mink! Such a lovely color; I hope I can still find it! I'm also going to have to try CG's powder foundation-it looks amazing! Thanks for the great video!😊

Cover Girl Soft Mink is one of my all time favorite blushes, and I'm pretty sure it was the first blush I ever wore, back in 1981, when I was first allowed to wear makeup at 15! I also love their Deep Plum shade.
I am excited for this no-buy series! Neutrogena?Yes!! CoverGirl used to put out little starter kits at Christmas and that is how I came to know them! I got gifted one by my parents and it had shimmering sands ES Quad, perfect point eyeliner, clear mascara, and a lip product (can’t remember what one). 😄
I like how you mention an alternative to the product while applying it that tells how sincere and honest about your reviews. I appreciate it so much also I remember the cream to powder foundation by cover girl i wish they still make it . i am going to try that powder cutrently. i am using Deborah's powder foundation. i don't know if you have this brand in the USA i would like to see a full face of this brand. Thanks 😊
I love the Covergirl Perfect Point Plus eyeliner. The tip is tiny which helps me tightline. It comes in a variety of great colors and blends well. Covergirl also had my favorite tinted balm in a stick format but they sadly discontinued them so I bought a zillion for backup.
I like that you’re going to pause for a month and catch up on all the products recently released instead of rushing onto the next.
I would love to see a full face of Revlon.

I got gifted one by my parents and it had shimmering sands ES Quad, perfect point eyeliner, clear mascara, and a lip product (can’t remember what one). 😄
Love the powder makeup on you.
Thanks 😊
Love the July idea video you can actually use what you're talking about
I love the Covergirl Perfect Point Plus eyeliner. The tip is tiny which helps me tightline. It comes in a variety of great colors and blends well. Covergirl also had my favorite tinted balm in a stick format but they sadly discontinued them so I bought a zillion for backup.
Loved the look 😍!
Julie Dawn Olsen loves those lip markers, but she also loves wearing a gloss on top of them. 👍
I love Julie! I’ve never met her in person, but she lives a town over from me and I always hope I’ll bump into her at an Ulta sometime. 🥰
Best of, full face of Colourpop wld be awesome! ❤
