  • I started this project when I saw an old woman braiding threads of coconut husk on 21st October 2018. Since then I’ve been photographing and video-graphing scene by scene. Collecting and getting all the scenes involved in the process was a challenge. This project was only made possible due to the efforts of many people. Someone of them appears in the scenes, they are ( in order of appearance) Hafsaa, Shiyaama, Sharumeela, Shareefa Dhaitha, Saamathu, Zahuriyya, Hariyya Dhaitha, Faathuma Dhaitha, Thitha, and Fathimath Hussain.
Also a very special thanks Rayyan Ismail and Ali Manik who provided information about ongoing work at their home which facilitated many scenes in this project.
Hats of to all women who do this arduous work in the Maldives even though the income generated is little compared to the time and effort spent on the process!
Any Teacher who wishes to use this in their classroom can use it freely.
