I clicked on this on a whim (I think because of the thumbnail, really) but this is the gentle reminder I needed. I absolutely love hand embroidery, but it frequently falls off my radar because I can't find the inspiration to get started or I'm too intimidated to just go for it. I'm not much of one for hoop embroidery because I never know what to do with it, but I can't believe I haven't thought of thrifting backpacks or canvas satchels and the like to practice on. It would make stuff like that affordable gifts. The expense of buying new has always been the cost prohibative thing to keep me from just diving in! Also, just a fun thing to share, the last time I did hand embroidery was in a house that was over 200 years old while talking with visitors. It's an incredibly fun hobby to have while working as a historian because it gets so many questions!
I'm so glad to hear that! I really do love having the ability to gift hand embroidered things to people. Oh, that does sound so fun!!! My grandma's house (where I learnt how to embroider) was a 600-year-old British cottage in a sleepy village. I have so many fond memories there!
Can confirm, ever since I started embroidering I have listened to sooooooo many podcast episodes. If anyone is into cults, the channel Cults to Conciousness is really intetesting and has a bit of everything!
