      I would love an Ork centred novel that covers this. An Ork v Ork main plot with randomly dispersed chapters of the Tau just turning up and detailing a different diplomatic tactic taken to assimilate the Orks. Each Tau centred book chapter gets smaller and smaller as each ambassador is killed quicker and quicker until they exhaust and eventually give up. Would make a great comedy.

    Really hope Farsight doesn’t just become some chaos corrupted puppet. It seems like him getting out from under the etherals was him cutting those puppet strings though maybe not chaos they still act like chaos with how they own pretty much everything about the tau. And also honestly finding my self a bit excited for what come next for shadowsuns story and her acknowledging the tau god and starting to worship the deity. Plus I hope the kroot shaper remains with her because he’s pretty dang cool

      The T'au storyline will become very interesting.
      They have gained the attention of the Chaos gods, the imperium are aware of them, their allies spawned a literal goddess and their leaders the Ethereals seem to be willing to suppress that goddess.
      Interestingly we have two of the most popular generals independently learning to distrust the Ethereals.
      I wonder if Farsights Enklave and Shadowsun with their goddess will team up, while the rest falls with the Ethereals.

      Heres the thing. I 100% agree with yout that Farsight should not do a Horus 2.0 and fall to Chaos. Hoowever, having him constantly teetering on the edge, being tempted but still holding back even if there may be a few bursts of rage/violenece in battle, that i can get behind. Cause the thing is, Farsight may have some reasons to fall to Khorne, but he has WAY more reasons not too. In the Arks of Omen book its stated that he was falling to the blood rage, but was held back by, his Mentors teachings, his own belieefs, his compatriots of the 8 and the Taliman of Arthus Moloch. Its an interesting idea seeing him wrestle with that idea and triumph over it. Sometimes it can be an easy victory, otherimtes like in arks of omen it will be just barely.

But we are talking about the Horus Lupercal who had been corrupted by Chaos... and even thou, yea, the Emperor tricks him into relinquishing his powers, doesn't he also beg the Emperor to kill him because "He is the only one who can" right at the moment when the Chaos gods start to super charge him once more (once Horus realizes the Emperor has tricked him)? That actually implies that Horus did not have all that much autonomy.. Without his Chaos powers he clearly wanted the Emperor to finish him, but he obviously knew this would no longer be the case once the Chaos gods had supercharged him again... and he did not want that to happen

    They had to be engineered, i cant find any other explanation. They are an engineered superior cast, and they serve something else. Maybe for the best, maybe for the very worst. They know about the Warp, they manipulate the weak psyche of their race through... some mean, and they basically appeared out of thin air right after some UFO lights flashed in the sky? I call foul. I like that you finally mentioned how Vashtor could easily be seen as a daemon of Tzeench. Maybe it's just my decades of interest in Warhammer but I find that the old four are extremely compelling and convincing as warp reflections of powerful aspects of life, which really helps to sell their bs powers (since everyone has a bit of Khorne, Nurgle, Tzeench and Slaanesh in them). Vashtor seems like more of a niche/edge case, and a chaos god of technology gone awry doesn't mesh well with all of the lore we have on Necrons or the Dark Age of Technology (why would he get a shot at the great game now instead of during the War in Heaven, what about the C'tan, etc.). I hope Vashtor remains a campaign character like Belakor or some of the cool baddies we got in the old Fantasy setting. His domain isn't compelling enough to me to rival the likes of anger, despair, hope and excess, and he doesn't embody the collective aspirations of an entire species like the Emperor or the new Tau god.

  • @Ringobobingo
    @Ringobobingo 7 дней назад +3

    It would be cool if the Tau beginning started with an old one who came back to see what the galaxy has become so he created the Tau and ethereals to guide them in becoming the dominant species in the future and i don't think thats far fetched since the imperium was gonna initially exterminate them a sudden warp storm appeared and essentially saved the species and the old ones were known for their mastery of the warp.

    I have two things i would like to discuss about the tau lore going forward. One is a theory and the other is where I'd like them to go. The first thing is a theory about the origins of Farsight's Sword, the Dawnblade. I believe it is a Shard of the legendary sword, Anaris-the Sword of DawnLight. In Eldar history and mythology the Eldar smithing God, Vaal, created the sword to fight Khaine, Eldar God of War. He lost the fight and Khaine started using a sword but then it was stolen and given to ,Eldanesh, the greatest of all Eldar Heroes. Eldanesh then used the sword to fight Khaine in one-on-one combat, the only mortal to fight a God on even terms in a straight up duel. He lost and Khaine started using the sword again but then he fought Slaanesh and when he was shattered so was the sword shattered. The Dawnblade Could Be A shard of Anaris. I like this Theory because not only does it fit but it also fits thematically with Farsight's story of fightimg Khorne, with it having mirroring Eldanesh's story of at first denying Khaine and then fighting Khaine. Both war gods. The next topic I would like to discuss is where the Tau goes from here. As mentioned in your video, the creator of the Tau slipstream drive warned that it wasn't ready yet and the ethereals went ahead with it anyway in the 4th sphere expansion. What if the ethereals used him as a scapegoat and blamed him fir what happened. This causes the Earth cast scientists to be disillusioned with the authority of the ethereals but then he gets rescued by agents of the farsight enclaves and ends up joining farsight. Then, what if he recommends doing the same thing that happened with the 4th sphere expansion but instead using unmanned drones and ships to safely and purposely create this time a wormhole within Enclave space that lets The Farsight Enclaves have it own red sphere of expansion in another interesting part of the Galaxy that the tau haven't been near yet. You can open up a lot of the story in World building potential if the other side of the portal gets opened up in either the Ghoul stars, the Halo stars or even the veiled region. Not many people talk about the veiled region except for that one story with the soul drinkers.

      While the first theory was a popular one for a time we know where all of the swords of vaul are; 3 are with the ynnari characters, Yvrainne, the Visarch and the Avatar of Ynnead, the spear of twilight that prince yriel uses is the fourth and the fifth one is in the realms of slaanesh.

    • @carlzerris6566
      @carlzerris6566 5 дней назад +1

      I actually have been thinking the same thing about the whole idea of recreating wormholes without the 'mauled by demons' issue. I think the main issue is that as i understand it, the spere expansion that created the startide nexus only got out of the warp because of the greater good god so its not something they can necessarily control. While normally im confident the Tau can technology their way around pretty much any problem, warp travel is more voodoo than science and as such a bit out of their area of expertise.

    Some seem to think the title implies Tau would fall all the way out of existence, but just because they fall wouldn't necessarily mean the end of their race. Just ask pretty much any other race who once had a great empire in 40K. It could just mean they would become less optimistic and more grimdark.
    Sandman's take that the inevitability of this has been hinted at with the Farsight Enclaves and the 4th sphere expansion, was also my impression before watching this. Tau preconceptions can't make it very far from their home before they are dispelled by realities of the galaxy, that they seem utterly unprepared for.
    My guess is it will take the form of a greater schism similar to the Imperium. Along the lines of those who will uphold the ideals of the Greater Good and those who will see it as naive and pointless, adopting a ruthless and unrestrained approach to dealing with other factions.
    Speculating further, I could see this taking the form of ghastly technologies like those banned by the Imperium. Nano tech capable of turning worlds into grey goo to match the Life-Eater Virus, AI with godlike power and intellect to match Necron technology and psychic races. Rather than a fall to Chaos, falling to the trappings of the Dark Age of Technology.
    Imo a fall anchored in the material realm, similar to the Necrons, would better fit the Tau than something warp-related. Like unwittingly creating their own C'tan-like entity from technology. Not in the sense it would be as powerful as a complete C'tan but filling a similar role as C'tan once did to the Necrons.

    A 'Greater good' warp god created as a result of the races absorbed by the Tau would be one that's linked to an ideal (The greater good), and not to the Tau as a species. That'd be a god that didn't need the Tau themselves, and was more influenced by non-Tau belief. That'd scare me if I were Tau.
    Or maybe it's actually just a chaos god of hunger/greed? Ha ha.

    Theory: The Etherials didn't just "convince" the Tau people to stop fighting.
    They MIND CONTROLLED them to stop fighting by " the greater good"
    That would give the Tau's Utopian society a more grimdark reality to their not so grim dark sociery.

      It’s heavily implied that that’s the truth. That’s why the Ethereal’s are so threatened by the Farsight conclave because their subtle mind control can no longer reach them without an Ethereal near them.

    The Tau are not at all doomed. Their chance of success lies in waiting out the other factions. Humanity is dying, perhaps in it's death throws. The Eldar exist only as a remnant and are, in fact, doomed. The Orks are slowly but surely devolving back into fungi. The Tyranids would be a problem if not for the Necrons. The Necrons, for their part, are not concerned with the Tau in their present state. Chaos is by it's nature self destructive and will annihilate any species that falls to it completely in time. The Votann do not have any reason to fight the Tau.
    People mention that the Tau have no "Heavy hitters" like Big E or the Chaos Gods, but this is forgetting what technology alone can actually accomplish in 40k. If the Tau can make it another six thousand years they will reach a stage of technological advancement on par with what humanity had at their height (Humanity, not the Imperium.) This means Dyson spheres, sun snuffers etc. The biggest advantage the Tau have is something no other race possesses... A future.

    • @carlzerris6566

      I do agree (i am a tau player with a bit of a bias i admit) that the Tau are in with a shot of outlasting the Eldar, Imperium (which should have crumbled ages ago), chaos (cause humanity is the only one fueling chaos in any meaningful way) and as you rightly said, the votann have no reason to fight. Tyranids and necrons on the other hand i think are a bigger problem. Sadly if either come in full force against the other, one if going to triumph and be at full power and i dont think either will igonore the tau least of all the necrons. Rememeber the necorns whole history is them being the undergods and prceeding to enslave the gods. They may decide to nip the tau problem in the bud before they become and issue. ASnd that not even taking into account the corrupted necrons who just exist to destroy life.

    • @theprelate4219

      @@carlzerris6566 If the Tau can achieve the same degree of technological prowes humanity had at it's height the nids are fucked. To Golden Age humans they are just bugs. They would have OPTIONS in how to handle that problem. The Necrons are probably not as unreasonable as people make them out to be. Peace simply isn't an option for them at the current time because all the other races except the Tau are super aggro at the moment. In fact peaceful negotiations with the Necrons is far more possible than peaceful negotiations with the Imperium.

    Where has sterilization ever happened in any T'au stories? Haven't come across it myself, and you can hardly call saving people from your caste before others as that is "human" nature they were given an open order to save as many as possible so people will naturally begin with the people they are most acquainted with/know best, friends/family for example.

    41:53 Is it a mistake thou? You say he did everything correctly..

      I think youre msiunderstanding what im saying. Im not saying he did everything right morally or anythign like that. I'm saying he did everything right to conquer terra and kill the emperor. Which he absolutely did. The only reason he didnt "win" was due to giving up his power.
      Like I say though, its up to interpretation.
