My father always told me that grief and relief often look the same. I'm so happy for them and I can't wait to see how they grow 💜💜💜💜

Festa dinner makes me sad everytime. Not because they are taking a break, because personally I will support all their endeavors. But to know that they felt so trapped, guilty, and worried about disappointing people just broke my heart. I hope on this break they finally have a chance to grow personally, have new experiences, new relationships and really just finally get a chance to experience the everyday things us "normal" people take for granted. I think most Army are rooting for their happiness.

I agree the emotion seen was from the relief. And for the Army who say they love BTS then supporting this much needed break should be easy. I'm so happy to be part of the 90%!

Roscoe buddy, as always you are the voice of reason. I love your take on the Festa dinner and hearing you genuinely search for the right words to convey the myriad of thoughts and concerns that Army might be feeling filled me with emotion. Yours was the reaction I was waiting for before watching the dinner. Firstly, I wanted to be with the couch crew and Secondly, I trust you as our captain. As soon as I saw Namjoon cry, tears instantly fell from my eyes. But above all, you brought it all back to the BTS members and asked us to think how it has been for THEM for the past nine years of ‘running’ non-stop. I dread to even imagine a life like that but they do it for US. Your sentiments are so inspiring. You were sorely missed but I’m happy that you too had a break 🙂. I wish I could spread your wise words to the World #ArmyletsreturnthefavourtoBTS 💜💜💜💜💜

Roscoe, I don't know if you've seen the fallout or not since their Festa dinner video came out. As Taehyung said, 90% of ARMY, if not more, fully support the guys. We can't watch that video, see and hear how they've been feeling, and then not support them. On the down side, casual listeners of BTS or those with business interests in them have freaked out. The day this came out, the stocks in their company dropped something lik 28%. The number that I saw was a loss of $115 million. Even the Big Three K-pop companies lost money. People captured screen shots and made memes of Namjoon crying, laughing at him and mocking him. The President of the Korean Singers Association posted a public letter to them, asking them to reconsider the hiatus. Hybe bactracked and said that they weren't actually taking a break from group activities, but focusing more on solo endeavors. JK did a VLive to reassure everyone that they are not disbanding. It's been a huge mess and I genuinely pray that they don't cave in to the pressure.
Did you catch the line where Yoongi was talking about how, if they had left when Covid first hit, then they would be getting back together around now? That give a timeline of two - two and a half years. The mandatory military service is about 18 months and they have not been exempted from that. Frankly, I don't think they want to be. They keep saying that they are ordinary young men and, for them, part of being an ordinary young man from South Korea is the mandatory military service. They feel guilty just taking a break, I don't know if they could really handle being given an exception like that. I think that this break was also meant to give them time to do their military service. Two years is not that long and most of ARMY will be waiting for them when they get back. Including me and you, I think.

I follow quite a few reactors and it’s amazing how they’ve all said exactly the same thing after watching this, some relatively new Army like you, others have been with BTS a little longer. Firstly, how much BTS have changed their lives and secondly how bad they feel that BTS have been unhappy but unwilling to take a break for fear of disappointing Army. Such is the effect these 7 men have. They deserve this break so much, and I know they will return happier and recharged. 💜

Looking forward to what is yet to come. ARMY have been advocating for Bangtan to have the freedom to be themselves in whatever form they wish to pursue. So happy and proud of these wonderful men for the steps they are taking to take the time to grow into the people they wish to become. Borahae, everybuddy. Borahae, Bangtan. Apo! Bangpo! (ARMY forever! Bangtan forever!)

You hit the nail on the head. The saddest part of this is hearing that these young people have been struggling with who they are and living their own lives. If the price of these people living their own lives is that we never see or hear from BTS again I am willing to pay it. They gave me so much, they deserve all that they dream of and for whatever that may be. As do we all.

I’m a little late to the party, but while I was sitting here finishing some course work that I need to do, I have been listening to this video.
I was heartbroken at that dinner, not because of what they said, but because of the amount of pain that they’ve held in to heal us!
Do I feel guilty? Heck yes!!
Will I continue to support them in whatever they do? Heck yes!!!
Mostly though, I want to be happy as the people they really want to be.
Also, with enlistment on the horizon - I want them to know that we will support all of them individually until they can come back as a group, no matter how long that may be.
    Thanks Roscoe!

Ah, Roscoe, for having been ARMY for only, what, 6 mos? you are acutely perceptive. When you carefully watch and listen to their dinner, you can tell how much they care for each other while still needing to be individuals. They are not vacating their BTS "house," they're only going to their own "rooms" to concentrate on personal goals. Have you seen the photos of them in their concept "rooms" inspired and designed by their personalities? That's how I see it. They are a family, always together but also with their own space.

I think, what they mean by "free" is "free time".
Completely agree with you, it might be tears of relief, just like Jimin said, it's hard to talk about it. And what we can do as army is to support their solo project, so they know they still loved by us, as individual or as a group. The closest one is JHope album.

Yes to all you said except they don't need to "Earn" the right to have free time to themselves. When we want free time to ourselves, most of us can carve that out of our day/week relatively easy, we don't have to earn that right. Non of western artist feel they need to earn the right to take time to themselves. It is heart breaking to me to hear that they had to muffle their feelings, sense of self and fatigue for that long... and the guilt for feeling they are letting Army down some way. I feel ever so grateful for hours of joy/tears with their shows and music for the last 3 years (BTS came to me during SNL). I am missing them as 7 already, but they have gifted a treasure of contents from their 20's lives. They are men now. And it will be fun to see the men they become on their own... Chapter 2.

I'm only watching your video now but I totally agree with you. 'Relief' is exactly the term I used back then alking to friends. Relief for finally saying it out loud to us. And yes I do felt and still feel guilty that I, as ARMY, may have contributed to them feeling as if they had no choice but continue last two years even though they were tapped out and burned out. 'Burn out is no joke' is also something I said back then. And anyway they seem so happy since then, exploring themselves and the world and YES I miss them but I love them with all my heart so I need them happy and rested. And I'm so grateful they actually spelled it out so openly with us.

They've been preparing for this for a while, as shown by the locked and loaded albums, even Jin's. They also cannot talk about the elephant in the room, which is enlistment -- the one great EQUALIZER of the male kpop bands. I am grateful that they have enough credentials (re: Order of Merit) to delay enlistment until age 30, while everyone else has to go at 28.

After pondering so many days, the problem isn't a break for breaks sake. It's they are all superstars in their own right. They can and will be successful.
If they are all successful. Will they want to come back together? I strongly feel if/when they do come back , it'll be a final goodbye.
I'd rather have the bandaid tipped off fast than have it pulled slowly. Those of us who look at this logical and HISTORICALLY won't be surprised.
BTS and ARMY might be forever but them as a group?... Curtin call. Much success to them as individuals though.

Did u hear what namjoon said, he said he wants bts to go on for a long time. Even yoongi wants to go at it and be together with the group for a long time. And like namjoon said, even if they can’t perform as well as they did in the past, he’ll always want to be RM of bts. I thnk they will come back and do group activities and they will alway be bts for a long time even if they may not make music together for a while or ever again. The group stays and whatever they choose to do together- whether its music or something else, it’s fine.

Just a quick mention again (see comments in your first video about FESTA), the video below mentions some very interesting aspects of the whole thing (bringing into the equation the Hybe/Scooter Braun merger) which has led to many Army becoming a bit more secure and it makes sense at the very least. So we should trust BTS that they know what they are doing and allow them to do so. We'll be here, waiting..... as Joonie said, all he wanted to say is in 'Yet to Come'.

I enjoyed your honest and thoughtful reaction. I believe the things they cannot talk freely about is the mandatory military service. They cannot possibly discuss their frustrations openly against the government although the government hasn’t been able to determine whether BTS should be exempt from serving. It’s not like in US that celebrities could openly criticize the government for not determining whether BTS should be exempt from serving. Jin did not have much to say about his solo projects. It’s because he is uncertain whether he has to enlist by the end of this year. Jin would probably would like to pursue his first dream, acting, but not knowing whether he will have to enlist prevents him from signing contracts for acting jobs. I believe the boys did not have many choices except to go on solo projects while everyone finish the military service. That only makes sense as to why the boys need a break. I could also understand that they need time to grow as individuals. They’ve been running for over 10 years together. They couldn’t even take well deserved vacations except for two times during the past 10 years. In order to grow, the artists need time for themselves and experience different things. However, they been running between the concerts, TV shows , special events all the while working on new songs. Yes, the system did not let them grow, and I blame this on the management. If the S. Korean government does not exempt BTS from serving in military, it will be a big loss for the country. BTS has helped to spread the Korean culture around the world and they generate $5B to Korean economy today. I think they are serving the country much more as BTS rather than each member serving as a soldier. There guys were born to perform in front of audience. They won’t be able to stay away too long from the stage if they were to be exempt from serving. Jimin’s facial expression says it all. To me this break sounds more to do with the mandatory military service than anything else. I hope ARMY will give full support no matter what each of them decides to do. Thank you for what you are doing! 💜💜💜
