Oh, I see. That's why I haven't heard of Micronation in South Korea before. I'm a Korean living in Australia & still talk to my family in South Korea. But I was shocked to hear of a Micronation in Korea. Now it makes sense that it's a concept made for tourism. Anyhow, I look forward to visiting Korea again hopefully in the near future.
Imagine if this place is owned by a decendents of Hitler with Hitler's wealth. And the money earned is going into their pockets. Would Jews go to this place? Koreans are so numb in their history. Its an island bought with Min Yeong Hwi's wealth by his decendents who actually extorted from his own people, the people of Korea by aiding Japan to rule over Korea for decades. A traitor, pro-japanese collaborator and a quisling.
Good show…well done…I was in Korea 1968 to 69…There is no country that evolved and crashed through modernity than Korea…amazing people…determined and proud…
It's a type of hibiscus. There are many different kinds that look very similar. Rose of Sharon, Rose Mallow, Confederate Rose, Hollyhock etc... that grow all over the world. This being South Korea I'm sure it's the specific one you say.

The flower is Hibiscus syriacus, also known as the rose of Sharon. In Korean, it's 무궁화 (mugunghwa - meaning "eternal blossom that never fades") and it's the national flower of South Korea. You'll often see it as part of governmental seals such as the South Korean president's seal.

Hello! I am a Korean man who married a British woman! I watched your video because my father-in-law recommended it. Welcome to Korea! I hope your trip to Korea will be a pleasant memory for you both! ☺
HI. I was born in Ulsan, 1hr drive from Busan, spent my teen age in Gangnam and moved to Canada with my parents at the age of 19. I have been living in Canada for more than 30 yrs. oh man.. I miss Korea. When I was young, my father used to drive up to north side of coast from Ulsan, stopping every nice beaches. Your journey brought me back old memories.. Stay healthy and have a nice trip. 😊
South Korea 🇰🇷 is amazing, I was there on vacation in July 2023. --- The mountains! Are beuatiful. I love them so much, they were great to hike in Seoraksan National Park.
The dark colored tea you drank (jujube tea as you mentioned) is a traditional tea called daechu-cha in Korean (with pine nuts). (Daechu is jujube and tea is cha.) Jujube is used as an ingredient or topping in many Korean dishes and traditional medicines as it warms your system and is good for your blood circulation, sleep irregularities and stomach aches, etc. It is also eaten fresh just as a fruit. And the white drink that Marianne was drinking was Shik-hye. The fermented rice drink you had in Busan but that one was a commercial canned version, so the taste and quality wouldn't have been exactly on par with the one you had at the temple (likely, home-made). Hope you had a fantastic time during your stay here in Korea and the heat was manageable. Looking forward to more fun videos from you.. ☺️💚
Hi, C&M, I left Korea about 50 years ago and made Canada a home away from home. Time spent to establish my time here and could not keep up with such progress back home. Nice to see you enjoy your visit. You are so kind to take everything positive and people see it and they treat you same way. All the best to you.
There are really so many beautiful spots to visit in Korea. I remember there was one scenic spot (temple?) we went to which is situated on a high mountain. Going up on top of the mountain through a zigzag, very narrow road was scary but our driver was excellent. The flower belongs to the hibiscus family. Koreans see to it that there is something beautiful and artistic in every nook of their country.🥰
Hyundai make the Equus model, guys. Temple you visited was indeed a peaceful place. Love that kind of architecture, those ornate rooves, and intricate paintings. Thank you for your fabulous videos. Wouldn't miss them for quids! ❤
I loved your comment about not quite believing you were passing a sign saying Seoul. I remember feeling something similar when I found myself actually standing on the Great Wall of China. It just felt so surreal that I was actually there. I absolutely loved seeing the painted underside of the temple rooves, wow, so colourful and beautiful and what a strange idea to have a micronation within a nation. The mist stations looked great, I'd love those. Thanks for sharing your fantastic travels, loving it.
Welcome to S.Korea Drive safe and stay safe always :) It must be so nice to travel different countries with beloved person by own vehicle I really wanna try that in the future
The map of Naminara island looks like a Cornish pasty 😉👍 Loving your trip around South Korea, I visited in 2007, fascinating country, lovely people. The cars, Equus, Genesis, are all sub brands of Hyundai.
I would have liked a clearer view of the plant, especially the leaves. It looks like a Rose of Sharon. Where I live has both hot and cold extreme temps. We plant it in the ground and it does just fine. The one I have blooms multiple colors of white, pink and medium purple from the same plant. Remember to cut it back in the spring after there's no danger of frost and it will bloom like crazy.
Thanks so much for sharing these experiences. It makes me want to go back to Korea and finished up what I still wanted to do that. I was in the habit of climbing all the highest peaks in all the national parks in Korea. I have climbed about 12 and still want to complete another 5 or so.
