A person with Schizophrenia typically has a symptom known as Anosognosia. This means that they do not believe that they are sick. For this reason, it is difficult to convince them that it is important for them to continue their medication. Also, whatever their delusions happen to be, they are VERY real to that person. You can NOT convince them otherwise, and it is futile to try. So, in this story, her delusions/halluccinations were: her mom's affair, the friendship with the young man who's bedroom she crawled into, etc. Her parents were not keeping a secret from her. She just would not believe anything they said if it was in opposition to her delusions. Unfortunately, this information comes from personal experience with my step-daughter.

As someone who has lived in mental health facilities my whole life, I can actually see how this is possible. I was admitted at the age of 10 and recently got out this year at the age of 19. I remember last time I hallucinated. It was two weeks ago. When you hallucinate, everything seems so real. I swore there was a bear in the bathroom, and I saw her cubs running in the hallway. I was so terrified that I barricaded my door and cried. The next morning I looked out my room and saw the bear. I was going to call 911 but the phone was to far away. So I approached the bear and realized it was just a towel. So, this being said, mental health really be like this.
For the shortest second when the priest said “go on, my daughter” I thought that maybe she was actually his daughter and the mom had an affair with the priest. But then...I realized...the priest is called father....and so he called her daughter...I guess it was weird to me because my priest never really does that (Edit: fixed some spelling and grammar mistakes)

Some allowances need to be made for the schizophrenia. It can be pretty debilitating. Schizophrenics can have trouble regulating their emotions and respond to situations inappropriately or in an extreme manner. Couple that with the anger, hostility, and compulsive behavior/lack of restraint that are also common symptoms and you get stories like this.
i agree with kassie, its extremely rude to make people think bad things about medications because their meant to help people and this is just offensive. medications arent used for this.this is why people dont take pills. because they see things like this and their condition gets worse, luckily im not one of these people, i just thought i should get the message across.

My mom's bf had the same disorder and he was totally fine on his meds but he would get off his meds and say that he didn't need them, and that he didn't have a disorder. He got to the point where he would beat my mom saying that he saw her with his buddy, Jake, who it turns out didn't even exist. Hope that answers well enough for you

This story is kinda about her body in the way that her parents didn’t tell her she was schizophrenic. But even then, how could they have kept that a secret for ten years, because she seems older than ten.
Why didn’t she know about her disorder?????!!!!!!!!! How did she stop taking her pills???!!!
My mom's bf had the same disorder and he was totally fine on his meds but he would get off his meds and say that he didn't need them, and that he didn't have a disorder. He got to the point where he would beat my mom saying that he saw her with his buddy, Jake, who it turns out didn't even exist. Hope that answers well enough for you
