Probably because both LKY and Reagan believed in most of the principles of neoliberalism following what Friedrich Hayek said. But look at the end result of Singapore and the US joining in on the neoliberal adventure.
Lee’s been in a room full of people after an hour or two he would start telling them what to do, he was that good of a leader.
He cannot help himself! lol.... But I think of all western countries, it's the American and British leaders who are most open to his views, especially with regards to China and the West... There was the story of a certain French president who did not take too kindly to LKY telling him what to do. Hahaha

He was actually a heavy drinker and smoker in his youth till he entered politics in his 30s. He was one of the most adaptive person on this planet. He even took up meditation in his late 80s.

I've visited Singapore and it's amazing what they accomplished.
He does drink alcohol socially, but moderately.
Reagan remembered Singapore's CPF home owner funding scheme. LKY is right - to create pride in their neighborhoods and locales, citizens must be able to become homeowners. Sadly that is getting more and more difficult for younger Americans these days, but the dream is still within reach for those who want to work hard!
