TITLE: Experiences of Swamy's childhood friend Sri Narasimha Das PART 1 INTERVIEWER : How blissful are those who, in their childhood played along with Swamy and watched him perform his Leelas( Divine performances) and words cannot describe how fortunate are those childhood friends of Baba who played a prominent part in many of the events that happened in those times of His life. We have come across one such individual named Goddumarri Narasimha Das. He is none other than the eldest son of the salt inspector Sri Anjaneyulu garu who was a close associate and an ardent devotee of Swamy. Hope you all remembered Sri Anjaneyulu garu by now! He was the very same person in whose garden Bhagawan made his avatar declaration. His eldest son , Narasimha Das , who is currently 83 years old is very keen to share his childhood experiences with Baba with all of us. Sir, can you please share the details of your encounter with Swamy for the very first time, how you saw Him and how He used to be back then and all of His childhood information ? NARASIMHA DAS : Sir, this is a very prominent question. What's prominent about this is how I remember so vividly that form of Baba at that age. He looked like a very naive boy and used to come to school wearing khaki shorts and a white shirt with a black Kashi thread tied to his wrist.He had rings of curly hair and had a glowing face. His brother Sesham Raju garu was a teacher in Uravakonda. So, he got Baba admitted in my high school named Karibasaveswara swamy high school. It belongs to Karibasaveswara swamy MaTam ( Hindu equivalent of monastery although with different rules regarding various aspects). That's how I have got to know baba as we were meeting at that school. Due to our previous life's good karmas our family had developed a good relationship with Him . He started visiting us at home and mutual affection developed between us. My mum and dad cared for him more than they did for me. He was always Satyam for them not Satyanarayana. A spiritual person named B V Narasimha swamy visited us once. After his visit, we got to know Baba and he started coming to our place. Once we were all doing Shirdi Saibaba Bhajan at home. My father had already visited Shirdi at that time and he used to Pooja regularly to the picture of Shirdi Sai Dwarakamayi. So, Baba also started joining us for our Pooja and Bhajans. We use to play as well in the evening. Everyday in the morning, He used to come to my place at around 9 am. I would have some food by then and would get ready to leave for school. Sometimes, when my father noticed that Baba probably ate nothing in the morning, he would insist that He join him and asked my mum to serve them some food. That's how we happily spent our time with him then.On Thursdays, He used to come to my place at about 4pm. INTERVIEWER : What were your school timings back then? N DAS : 10.30 to evening 4 pm. At 9.30 in the morning, He used to come to our house which was secluded in a forest Area . My father who was an excise engineer had his office and residence at the same place with many subordinate staff working for him. My younger sister Subbaratnamma also used to play with us. Particularly, on Thursdays my father , after his bath would wear silk Dhoni and shawl and get ready for his Pooja to Shirdi Baba at about 4 pm. On one such Thursday, Baba started singing the bhajan "Manasa Bhajare Guru Charanam" and " Baba rava " song as well. INTERVIEWER : Do you remember that song Baba rava song? If yes, please do sing. N DAS : I do. It goes " Baba rava Sai Baba rava " ..........( Meaning of the song : Baba , please come! Leave Shirdi and come quickly . You are our Mother and Father and you are our bestower and our God, please shower your grace on us and take care of us. O dweller of Shirdi . As we can't fathom your divine actions we are stuck in this net of Maya. We are dull headed as a result so please do protect us O Supreme Atma. ?......... INTERVIEWER: How did you address Baba in those times? N DAS : Satyam INTERVIEWER : How do you used to be with him at school ? Your association with him ? N DAS : He was in different section. We used to leave school and go home together . There were gradual changes to his personality. He was attaining powers from our regular Thursday Pooja sessions. He started displaying his divine super powers. Word of his omniscience spread not only to the surrounding villages but also to the surrounding states. He went to Hospet along with his devotees from there upon their insistence.Word among the people was that this young boy with divine powers was an incarnation of Shirdi Baba. Devotee groups were formed in all those villages with an intent to invite him to their village The municipal commissioner of Bellary who heard of Baba thus became His devotee after visiting Him.Baba displayed his powers when he visited Virupaksha temple with His brother Seshama Raju. They had his Darshan in the Visweswara Siva Lingam. We have only heard about all of those incidents. After that, whenever He visited us, He always wore a decorative pin. He used to ask my mum and dad if it was beautiful.They used to tease him about it but He explained to them that it was a gift from His devotees. One day, at around 10.30 AM. as we were all walking in our school's play ground, all of a sudden His pin flew away. He asked if we knew its whereabouts. We said " Satyam, we are not aware of it. " He threw his books and declared that , " I am not Satyam, I am Baba. " We were scared and asked him " Why do you speak like this, Satyam? ".He insisted that He is not Satyam but Baba. We left our books and ran to our homes to inform our parents. My father left his office on a bike to find out why He was behaving in this strange manner. That morning, He promised my father that he would come to my place for lunch. (10.10) I
