Question: So you say that we ARE awareness so there's nothing to be done, I can't become aware because I AM awareness. So when something comes up, let's use an example more intense than stubbing the toe here, let's say I found out some painful news like my significant other was cheating on me. Lots of intense emotions come up, and maybe a bit into the intense emotions I have the moment of "I am aware and this is awareness." Okay great, I have that intellectual understanding, but I'm not living that experience yet. I'm able to recognize that, but I am still very deep into my thoughts and feelings of this experience. So I intellectually can say "Yes, I am awareness." But when I'm out living life and having experiences, I can't say that I experientially am awareness. How do I get to the point where the painful thoughts and feelings don't take control of me and drag me along for a rough ride? So with the example of the fireworks, I can recognize that I am the night sky and only the fireworks, but I am still experiencing the burn of the firework and the loudness of it and shock of it. How do we learn to not just know that we're awareness but to not feel the pain of the firework when it explodes? Hope that makes sense.
At some point you must concede that whatever is happening in you is beyond your control. At some point you must concede that every attempt to control the mind or realize yourself as awareness has failed. At some point you must concede that you do not have a clue and at some point it may even dawn upon you that nor does anyone else in spite of the beautiful words that seduce you into believing that they do. You can not know the mystery, You can not control the mystery. Everything is an effect produced by the mystery .... your sense of Self, awareness.... everything a human can experience is a manifestation of the Mystery ....God if you like. To allow the mystery to express through you in whatever way it wants with as little resistance as is possible is the start of the way of radical acceptance. Acceptance of 'what is' opens the door to encouraging 'what is' and encouraging 'what is ' is to align with 'what is ' and 'what is' is a mystery and so you will become transformed by the mystery into the living embodiment of the mystery. The funny thing is that others will think you know but you will know that you have made your peace with the unkowability and uncertainty of the ineffable as it arises and expresses itself through in ways that are as mysterious as they are surprising.....As a metaphor, watching a great surfer like Kelly Slater may lead you to the erroneus conclusion that he is in total control on a wave....actually , the wave is always in control and Kelly Slater has simply mastered the art of being completely comfortable with being out of control....like this , the art of being is simply to surrender to that which is actually in control....The Great mystery ! Just a commentary on the moment....hope it helps!
@@hvkuql Thank you, that's very helpful. I especially resonated with the idea of radical acceptance. When I sit down and sit with whatever emotions I'm having, I can't seem to help the fact that I also have the thought and feeling "Okay, I'm sitting with the emotion, now when will it go away?" which always feels like I'm failing for having that thought and feeling. So radical acceptance is a great practice I want to incorporate. Not just sitting with the emotion but also fully sitting with the fact that I want the emotion to go away, and my pushing away of EITHER of those isn't helping. Also, I love the idea of remembering that all of this is still a great mystery for me and maybe it's time to quit trying to intellectually understand the great mystery. I'm going to focus on noticing awareness and radically accepting what is even when it's filled with painful thoughts and feelings. Thanks.
@@zzzzzzzzz-111 As a suggestion, rather than trying to focus on awareness or indeed anything, simply open up and allow yourself to be the object of the Awareness that is the Great Mystery. In other words , most people assume a subjective position e.g. the one who is aware. However subjectivity is also just another polarity of the mind with which we have identified. I personally find it so much easier to come from the perspective of simply showing up ,warts and all , and presenting that which I call me as an object upon which the Great one can meditate e.g. allow yourself to be the object of God's meditation....allow your self to be seen completely without trying to see....allow your self to be the object of an awareness about which you know nothing.....allow yourself to be moved by the wave over which you have no control....just another possibilty!
Expanded awareness is temporary, pure awareness simply is. The biggest mistake people make is to confuse the body-mind response to liberation as liberation. It is not.

hi, awareness is not denial. The pain you experience is legitimate. Cant intellectualise awareness nor pain. It is. All the best.

@hvkuql very insightful, thanks for taking the time
The real question is how long would this expanded awareness last?
Expanded awareness is temporary, pure awareness simply is. The biggest mistake people make is to confuse the body-mind response to liberation as liberation. It is not.
So simple

All appearances have nothing to do with what YOU are. There is only ALL being ALL.
Thank you for your poem! You are the all being all and that includes all appearances and the awareness that knows them..
@ That which IS, is All that IS, hence, It is inclusive of All that IS, only IS actually IS. IT knows nothing of appearances.
