- Welcome to the 2nd episode of our brand new documentary TV series - The Handmade Jewellers!
In this short series premiering here each week, live on RUclips, come on a journey of discovery with me, Jessica Rose, in which I meet five talented jewellers who are creating and selling their work, building their own businesses.
We get a tour of their workshops and a look at the tools they love! Plus they teach me a new jewellery making skill.
In Episode 2, I talk to jeweller Susannah King about her journey in to jewellery making. Susannah is a fourth generation jeweller. She loves working with gemstones and describes her jewellery as wearable pieces of art.

I love Susannah's jewellery but what stands out to me in this episode is her mindset. I love her attitude and it's all about giving everything a try, being true to yourself and not limiting yourself. Inspirational

I’m really excited for the next episode, watching Anna’s story gave me a lot of reassurance about what I was doing. I was told by my doctor a while ago that I can’t be In employment anymore due to health issues, so everything I’ve saved has gone into me working on my jewellery, which the pressure of can kind of stifle your creativity (as you can imagine) but watching Anna’s story really helped me refocus on that so I’m very grateful that you’ve done this series 🙏✨

I love Susannah's colourful work, and the inspirational message to not limit yourself, but try things - even if it has to be in a different way - and practice until you get it right.

Seeing the talent with Jess' wonderful interviewing technique is a recipe for a terrific show. I hope it continues. I was curious though, if anyone else noticed how the table of the gemstone was tilted (time 33:10) I'd be nervous about setting stones with gravers, called scorpers here. I used scorpers for engraving, so it's interesting to see them being used for something else. That's what tools are for, experimentation.

I love the way Susannah talks about keeping the gemstones on show to get inspiration for collections. I tend to squirrel things away and forget that I have them! I have major gemstone envy! ❤

I love her authenticity and how it feeds so naturally into her work and how she connects with her customers. So interesting to see how she makes sure she is exposed to potential inspiration.... the words on her workbench, the gemstones on display all the time.

I love the way that Susannah is whole heartedly very honest in explaining her journey with her jewellery business. She explains every detail in a clear and concise way including how she succeeded with increasing her social media following by being different. This is what I have enjoyed about this episode along with the way that Susannah explains the stone setting process in a clear and precise way.

Hello Jess, a great idea and professional. Anna was good at giving her story especially when she explained that some tasks of being a jewellery maker cannot be done alone and needs the help of friends (artists to create branding and outsourcing for polishers). Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Watching this episode is like watching a thriller movie. I felt butterflies in my stomach when she set the stones. I loved how Susanna made the stone setting looked so simple. I'm inspired by Susannah and how she talked about making jewellery that you love and would buy yourself. It's always tempting to try current trends in jewellery. This really motivated me to want to get back to making jewellery that I love, even if its not for everyone. I love that she talked about being patient and waiting for your ideal customers to find you. I'm really enjoying these episodes and seeing others studios.

Love hearing about Susannah’s journey. 😍 i really want to work with wax and gemstones so this episode is really inspiring! I love hearing about how Susannah progressed from working in gold looking pieces and then went onto working with solid gold and how her business runs. I would love to work with gold so it’s great to hear ways of making it possible 💛

Love how she keeps her gemstone out to inspire. I do that with my yarn for the same reason but never thought to do it with gems! brilliant!! And I think the fact she prioritizes things she likes or excites her to make is really resonate right now with me bc i’m just starting this journey!
