My mom is a low wage special Ed TA, her union got her an $11,000 paycheck because they negotiated to give just *some* of the super attendant's salary to the workers. Unions are so fucking important

One of the great things Minnesota's legislature did during this past session was end some of those anti-union propaganda policies employers use that he mentioned at ~21 minute mark.

About that opening statement... It is a great time to unionize in the States, pretty much everywhere else, except for France and the Nordic countries, it really is not. Unionization and colective action is very divided and has been really eroding in the last few decades, which, along with all the curses that come with neoliberalism and a non-existent alternative system alive to face free market capitalism after the fall of the USSR, helps explaining a lot of european countries' hard turn to the right. Unions are so underfunded and not optimized that far-right parties in countries such as Spain and Portugal have co-opted unionization and created their own "unions" and others, such as France or Italy, are more than likely soon to follow.

And the biggest thing that sucks, As someone that worked for my city under a union.
It doesnt matter how hard you work, The lazy F that has been there longer, Gets the promotion first. And unions make it too hard to fire the lazy gits. Just look at all the state and city workers, 1 person doing all the work, While his seniors stand around watching lol.
If someone like Amazon was in charge of the government, We would have all brand new roads, Bridges, It would be way cleaner, All the abandoned houses would be gone.

But I would rather not work for a union, It fits me better personally. But I could see someone that doesn't want too work hard, And having too wait until their time too get a promotion, Like unions more.

I don't understand, If I go get a job somewhere, I know if there is a union or not, I don't have too work there if they don't have a union.
As someone that has and hasn't worked for a company with a union. I don't think the company has too change, Because I decided I want a union after the fact.
If you don't like it, Don't get a job there.
That's a bit of a fatalist way of looking at the situation.
Companies don't make the unions, the workers do. But if the company does everything they can to not unionise? That's the company having to change.
How are workers meant to unionise if the employer just uses loopholes to fire those unionising
