  • Inspired by @KaraandNate "9 Christmas Market in 9 days", I visited as many in Norway and in Poland as I could while travelling for work. This is the 4th of a special series which I will release over Christmas.
If you are unable to get to a European Christmas market, then I hope these will help spread some Christmas cheer. I really enjoyed this market (#Julebyen) in Egersund, it made me feel so festive even in the wet snow/rain. There were singing and dancing "monks", Santa and his helpers wandered through the crowds. Loads of locally made art, crafts, and food. It had a real community feel to it with local youth choirs singing and everyone gathering for a torch lite parade with Santa and his helper leading in a horse drawn buggy. The brass band after the parade gathered under the massive real Christmas tree for a few more songs while people ate risgrøt (rice pudding), pølse (sausages), drinking gløgg (mulled wine) or Julebrus (Christmas soda). I was sad when the light rain turned into driving rain and sent me back to the train station and Stavanger.
