  • In this video I will show you how I crochet this beautiful doily. I am using a 2.5MM crochet hook and 100% Mercerized Cotton size 3 yarn.
    I'm sure you could use a regular cotton yarn and a larger crochet hook to come up with something much bigger.
    As you see at the end of the video my white doily is smaller than the purple, my hook in the video is a 2.5 and I used a 1.75 for the white doily.

    The explanation of each round is the most comprehensive that I have stumbled on as a beginner wanting to learn this far. Thank you for making the instructions very clear with slow movements that allows me to follow with comprehension of what your doing without rewinding several times. I am a follower now and can't wait to see more of your beautiful work and illustrations/demo's.

    Ms. Martinez while I find your instructions to be very easy to follow. I have to say trying to crochet a doily with lace weight yarn, and a 3.5mm needle to be incredibly hard. Mind you I have not done any crochet in close to 40 years. But it is something I want to do, is to crochet at least one doily, so do you have a tip that might make it a bit easier to do? Mind you, the 3.5mm needle is the smallest one I have.

    • @JonnaMartinezCrochet
      @JonnaMartinezCrochet  7 лет назад +2

      +GenderSkins I completely understand!
      Maybe try my newest doily video out. It can be done in a thicker yarn a bigger hook as it is designed to also be a rug.
      I'm so happy to hear you want to get back to crochet!!
      Have a wonderful day.

      I can do that Ms. Martinez but I am not sure how much help that would be, for lace weight yarn which is size 0 and thus smaller then the size 3 mentioned in the video. So I may need to come up with a couple of smaller needles, or some larger yarn. As from what research I have done, I may need a 1.5mm needle for lace weight yarn.

    Really cute! I'm wondering why in the 3rd round you started the trebbles in the 1st st of the chain (instead of slipping into 1st chain, then slipping into 2nd and starting there) like you did the remainder (in the 2nd chain) of the round? Really curious if there's a reason or if I can just do it like I explained to make it more even.

    • @JonnaMartinezCrochet
      @JonnaMartinezCrochet  6 лет назад +1

      It all depends on how comfortable you are with it. If it feels good and you like how it’s looking keep going, if not adjust your hook size.
      Just have fun with it.
      The hook size will determine the outcome of the project size, but with this kind of work it’s just art and can be any size!

    Thank you. Which crochet hook is bigger 2.5 like yours or 2.25

    • @JonnaMartinezCrochet
      @JonnaMartinezCrochet  6 лет назад +1

      The 2.50 is bigger than the 2.25.
      Just think about them like quarter sizes bigger. A half and apple (.50) is bigger than a quarter of an apple (.25)

    • @JonnaMartinezCrochet
      @JonnaMartinezCrochet  Год назад +1

      Easiest way is to use big yarn and a big hook. This could be a rug if you used a super bulky yarn. Thank you for watching!

      Yes! There are many different ways to block. I don’t care to do it so I’m lazy and just use water and then lay it out. You can also pin it to cardboard as it dries.
