Thanks for your great reviews. I will be visiting Stephanie's and Iries when I visit my mother later this year. I live in Tokyo but plan on spending 90 days visiting my mother in Corpus Christi. I needed a few restaurants take my wife who will be visiting for about 10 days over the Thanksgiving break and your reviews are incredible. We’re coming here first time ever. Our friend’s have explored a lot of Texas, but not Port Aransas yet, so thanks for covering this place. Now it’ll feel somewhat familiar.. They’re RV’ing , and a ferry to get to some island , but we’ll be winging it with lodging ideas, so excited..
We’ve got so many reviews out here 🤣 LOVE this area. Yes the north jetty is pretty cool. Awesome!!! We’ve got a ton of hotel reviews. My current favorite is Tropical Island. Lots of good ones though!! I hope you have so much fun.

Thanks for the heads up about Fins! We were just in Porta for the weekend and had a negative experience at the Island Cafe ourselves. Trout Street def turned it around so much that we went there twice during our stay. Super nice people and awesome food.

I’m going to pick the first one, Seafood and Spaghetti Works. The menu had everything I would ever eat. Looked so delicious.😋. “Fish On”

I’m a recent subscriber found you on FB port a group. I’m glad I watched this video we wondered about spaghetti works place. Not a fan of fins. My husband is not a panko fan and that what’s they use. Our favorite place to go is Scuttlebutts! Looking fwd to more videos!!

@@TheWafflesFam scuttlebutts is in corpus right off 361. It’s not too far from the island. They have a variety! I love the sushi and they have a big platter called the scuttlebutt platter. The catfish is pretty darn good! I’m not a fan of catfish but theirs is delish! It’s real big and meaty. They have a full bar as well. That’s our must go to before we leave port a. Defiantly going to try spaghetti works and the other place! Planning a longer stay in the summer so this review helped.
Scuttlebutts is technically not in Port Aransas
So tonight went to Spaghetti works and played this video at the table to remember what y’all ordered. Got the tuna appetizer and Richards Fish. Very good. Next time I’ll cash in a CD and get the Dome Steak.

I wasn't surprised by your Fin's review. Like you, our experience a few years ago with fish (Mahi Mahi) was terrible. It was overcooked and the fish was OLD. I didn't go back after that...until last year, to give it another try. Stayed away from the fish. Got the burgers, which were fine, but there were things missing from the order, the beer was flat, and the service was lacking...and trust me, I'm not that picky. I never went back after that. A lot of people love that place. I'm not one of them. The other places you featured are great. My all time favorite over the years has been Irie's. I really missed it this winter. We're stuck in Canada during this covid pandemic. If I had to miss a winter down there, this was a good one to miss.
That’s definitely true, not the best winter in Texas for sure!
Yeah that’s really unfortunate about the fish and the service. It’s just strange to me they can be as popular as they are and drop the ball on so many basic points. I wish that experience had gone better, we’re never going back. That last night was just crazy. Like you, we’re genuinely not picky but that was unacceptable.
I loved Iries, I can’t wait to go back. I was so glad we reached out to everyone to get suggestions. I had never tried there and wow!!! Incredible.
@@TheWafflesFam I'm a pretty big fan of the Coconut Shrimp at Moby Dick's. LaPlaya is great but you need to time it right in order to get in. (go well before opening) All you can eat Fajita night especially. Cancun is a regular spot for us as well. California Barrito on Margarita night (Tues. in winter).
We started going to Finn's about 3 years ago. But, we've found it to be going down hill. The last time we went, just before everything shut down due to covid, the shrimp was way over cooked, the fries were cold and gross and the services was MEH at best. Thankfully, that forced us to start checking out other restaurants and have many more to visit. We only live 2 hours from Port A so we get down there every change we get. I can't wait to try Irie's!
Was at FINS a week ago. Got a beer with my food. She brought the bottle and it was not even remotely cold. Walked over to the bar and got a frosted mug and then I could drink it. Not a big deal but why would the waitress bring over a warm beer bottle? It's the little things.
Was my favorite in 2010 when we were there for several months. We went every year when we went back but the food and service got so bad we quit going. Going to be there for a month soon and no Finn’s in our plans. My wife was shocked I thought “Joes Crab Shack” was a step up from Finn’s at this point.

Speghetti and seafood works is my favorite for dinner and for breakfast island cafe. There was a place called the chicken coop back in the 70s that had the best fried chicken and tacos I've ever ate
We went to try the Island café on this last trip but they were closed unfortunately we were so disappointed! Next time.

Omg! We have a lot in common. I just watched your video as I was researching dining in a Rockport and this one came on. My husband and I are also big fisherman and Foodies. We are heading to the Rockport this summer to fish and probably to Port A also. Any tips on good spots to fish? We alway stay in San Luis pass and fish but decided to head down the Coast this summer. Excited to check out more of your videos.

Might have to give the The Seafood and Pasta works another try. Like you had a bad experience at Fin’s we had the same thing with the Seafood and pasta joint. 1st of all, their handicapped accessibility is trash. My poor husband requires forearm crutches, and as you know it’s like walking all the way around the restaurant to use the ramp. We finally get inside and their oven was “broken” ok, they had a few things we could order, you’d think Spaghetti, but no… the worst thing of all was some guy at the bar, he appeared to be a manager, literally creeping on the hostess. She was so uncomfortable and he wouldn’t stop touching her, leaning against her, just like watching Brutus and Olive Oyl. It took every fiber of my being to keep my mouth shut. The next night we were at a restaurant that’s no longer standing due to hurricane damage (Berringers)and we shared our experience from the night before and they were surprised when I described the man with the icky behavior. I don’t recall if he was an owner or manager. Anyway, as a SA survivor I haven’t been able to bring myself to try them again. Now if you want a high end dining experience, check out Roosevelts. It is delicious, the service has been great both times we’ve visited and the menu is for a more sophisticated palate like your own. Irie’s hands down is my favorite too, can’t wait to hit port A the end of the month. Gonna have to try Virginia’s while we are there, I love trying new places!

I haven’t had anything negative happen there, we went with our kiddos a week ago, but some days are just the wrong days to be somewhere I guess, dang! But yeah if I was you I wouldn’t have gone back either 🤣. Great places are Virginias and Black Marlin is AWESOME. They’re open on the weekends.

We went to Fins just this past April. We sat on the patio. Big mistake. All we could smell was raw fish. 🤢. The service was extremely slow and food was just OK. We won’t be back.

Overall, that’s what the biggest problem was. Mistakes happen, but everyone we spoke to in the building (with the exception of the bartender) had a horrible attitude. That was the big issue.
Wow! Love Irie's and Seafood and Spaghetti. Just ate there recently. Grumbles was pretty good - it's a new place at the wharf next to Virginia's. We wanted to try Mac Daddy's a new BBQ place in the Fins family and this happened... Here's my Google review:
If I could give no stars I would. I'd like to tell you how good the food was. Unfortunately, I didn't get to that point.
First, tried to order online. Nope. Online ordering is disabled. There is a note on the website that says 'online ordering is currently disabled. Please contact the restaurant to place an order'.
On to the next step. Call the store and place the order. NOPE! Called - busy signal. Waited a few minutes. Called again - busy signal. Waited several minutes. Called again - busy signal. So, I'll just drive up to the restaurant and make a to-go order.
Step three. Order at the restaurant. NOPE! I went to the greeter and let them know I'd like to place a to-go order. I was told they cut off to-go orders at 7:30 because they were too busy. And this is where I met some of the rudest people. I will say, they were busy. However, if you are in the food service industry you should be able to handle busy!
I tried to explain the other steps I had taken for the last hour and 20 minutes. She says, my phone is right here. I have no missed calls. You can't have a missed call if it's busy! I called my cell phone right in front of her - busy. Here's where the blank stares come in and the thoughts of I hope a manager comes to bail me out. Manager shows up. She was 'really pleasant'. She says sometimes our phone just doesn't work. Whatever. Who has phones these days that constantly ring busy? It's not the 80s. It's not a party line, smh. My assumption is their phone was off the hook. At least that's how I feel after all of this.
So, step four. The manager. Surely, she will understand. Surely she will say, well we are busy but we will do what we can. We will help you out. NOPE! It was more of the same. You are NOT IMPORTANT. We have too many people here. Basically her attitude was 'go pound sand'!
Our family has been coming to Port Aransas almost every year for over 40 years. We have had some not so great experiences but most every time we come it has been very enjoyable. A small beach town feel. From what I can tell Mac Daddy's does not embrace those values.
The Fin's family should be ashamed. If the owner is reading this please help instruct your employees to have more empathy/understanding and maybe strive to go above and beyond - not take the easy way out.
The Fin's family lost a customer today. That place was great, awesome seafood! But you can't have technology fail, phones 'malfunction' or be taken off the hook (whichever it was), and treat patrons with disrespect and no understanding.
And I didn't even get to try the food 🤦
So, I'd stay away from Mac Daddy's and although I like Fins it's going to be a long while before I go back, if ever.
This is exactly how we felt being at Finns. I will never go back there and we have THOUSANDS of viewers who travel to Port A. They deserve every knock and comment by us they have gotten. That is unacceptable customer service and they should be ashamed. I am SO sorry that happened to you.

I have always struggled with eating at restaurants because I always seem to end up with that person who hates their job and doesn't want do what I want ie like extra butter or extra salad dressing and napkins, you name it they act as if I never said it and what gets me is I always preface it with I don't care about extra cost I want it and I will pay for it, but when the service sucks I will get up and walk out I've had enough of enduring shitty attitudes and shit service, I'm just not paying to be treated like shit anymore, especially at around 100 buck's to eat .
That makes total sense and yes that is super frustrating. That’s why we don’t eat at Finns anymore.

Seafood and Spaghetti Works was the best...before it was sold. Good burgers at Fins. Good boudin balls at Tortuga. Crab cakes at Moby Dick's.
All I will say is we just ate here a few weeks ago and it was incredible! Seafood in spaghetti Works. I have to disagree on that one but I appreciate the feedback for the viewers! You’re awesome!

Funny that u had 2 bad experiences at Fins bc I just went last night. It was jus me & my 2yr old twinz. As soon as I walked in the door lady said ummm. . We're closed! Well it took her almost 2mins to say it. I asked plz cld I order to go. It tales me awhile to get my twinz out the car. She went & asked another lady & OMG! She literally said NO!! IN THE MOST RULED-EST WAY! SO DISRESPECT
I am SO sorry. But that seems about right for that place. I don’t know what’s up with management there, but we’ve had bad experiences. We will never go back there.

Was at Port Aransas this pass weekend for Labor day weekend....ate at Fins for the first and last time! The fish mahi mahi was terrible 😫 we couldn't even eat our meal...bad service also!!!! So overrated
Completely agree! We are in Port A now and one place we had to go back to is Iries!!! Maybe try there, or black marlin has great seafood! Next time. 💜
