- To repent means to stop doing what’s wrong and start doing what’s right. But it can also mean that you “change your mind.” As Christians, what we do matters in a very big way. We are called to forsake what is evil and to do good. We are called to repent, and keep repenting when we stray from the path God wants us to walk. But our actions can never bring us eternal life, it’s only through Jesus Christ that we can be saved. The only kind of repentance that can save you, if you want to call it repentance, is to change your mind from believing that you don’t need Jesus to save you to believing that Jesus is the Christ, the Life-giver who through His death and resurrection can and will save you from your sins and grant you the free gift of eternal life. Repent and believe the gospel, then keep repenting by constantly turning away from sin and towards Jesus Christ.
