Hey guys! First of all I would just like to say thank you so much for all the support on this video! So I’m about to go into second year and honestly I think you’ve covered most of the ground in terms of stuff to bring, although there are some things that I would definitely suggest you need:
- extension leads (I had two and these were great as accommodation doesn’t have many plugs)
- command strips and hooks ( I got a variety of sizes of hooks. The larger size was great for hanging up things such as towls on the bathroom door or even coats for where there isn’t room in the wardrobe)
-flu fighting equipment (this one is highly important as freshers flu will hit you unfortunately so it’s best just to be prepared for it. I suggest having plenty of Lemsip to hand, sore throat sweets and cold medicine. These helped me recover much quicker and being prepared means you don’t have to go to the supermarket when you do feel rubbish)
-Hot drinks flask (this one isn’t essential but I did find it very useful. As during the winter months if you have an early lecture it’s great to bring a warm drink to have)
I also strongly agree with the other comments in making sure u don’t leave your room at home completely empty because as a fresher the occasional home visit is vital and you don’t want to have to bring everything back with you just to stay a night or two.
Lastly you should bring pictures of family, friends and even pets as they’re just nice to have and great to fill up the notice board if you have one.

Thank you so much for your advice! I appreciate any bits I can get! I completely forgot about extension leads, I'll have to grab a few :) A hot drinks flask is also a brilliant idea - I'm so excited (and nervous haha) to move in, hopefully I'll be able to make my room feel more like home

A first aid kit is a good thing to have at uni, I’ve just got a small tin with medicines (paracetamol, cold pills, allergy etc) antiseptic wipes, band aids, a couple bandages, ice packs , blister patches etc. having a place where you know all your first aid stuff is can be really important because at any point you or someone in your accommodation could be hurt/sick and you don’t want to be fumbling around trying to find a bandage if someone accidentally hurts themselves cutting an onion, or does something stupid like trying to open something with a knife and slips. It’s good to be prepared.

@@AlanaRoseH probably my biggest tips are make use of your tutors, no question is silly and they’re there to help so make as much use out of them as possible! Also don’t feel like you need to stay friends with someone just because they were the first people you met, there are so many people to become friends with, don’t take negativity and stress from people (especially those in halls). Lastly haha, uni can be so lonely so don’t let the stress or work take over, your mental health is more important than any (uni) work will ever be 🥰but most importantly have fun and take lots of pics 💗xx

i'm in uni but i love watching these especially because i remember being in the same boat. i hate to say it but youve bought soooo much, but defo bring it all because everyone is different and uses different things ! i would say no matter what you store your stuff in, people will take your food and all that, but yeah. my main advice i actually wanted to come and say with decorations in your room, dont leave your room at home empty. i struggled SO much coming home to nothing, i felt very out of place and it caused a few arguments. not sure if you were planning on it but thats just my experience !
Thank you so much for your advice. I had a feeling I'd bought a lot, but I think in a way feeling overprepared calms my nerves a little if that makes sense haha. I think in terms of decorations I'm going to try and print similar pictures to the ones I have in my room so both places have a similar vibe - at least at first. That way they both feel like home :) I really appreciate any advice you have, super valuable thank you!!
Im going to uni this September too, studying Photography :) its quite confusing shopping for this stuff because I debate whether to get the cheaper option or the slightly more expensive option (that is better quality and just looks prettier) so it was useful watching someone else to get inspo from. I am also going for a green theme haha
I tried to get a mix of affordable stuff and things that looked like they would last me a while. It's a fine line between bad quality and a bargain I feel like haha x good luck tomorrow btw (if you're getting results!)

Wow haha, well I think it's good to get things here and there as and when you can. I've felt a whole load less pressure this summer not having to worry about what I do and don't have :) x

make sure your tupperware is microwave safe also i made rice a lot so had a sieve but we had about three in our flat and ended up sharing. grab some more of the dish sponge things our shops sold out of them coudnt get any for months
Ooh thanks for the tips, I'll defo try and get some more sponges and never thought about the microwave safe thing so I'll have to double check. A sieve is defo a good idea too haha x
