    I have used several different colors for a few years. I absolutely love this product. My hair stays healthy and shiny. I really don’t think you know what you’re talking about. Truly. AND I have used the color you’re talking for almost a year. And I love it.

    Thank you for this! I have a PPD allergy that started with haircolor burning my scalp every time I dyed my hair and it kept getting worse each time. I have stopped using dyes with PPD because I'm afraid of the reaction getting worse (I've seen stories of people who have died while coloring their hair, so it really scares me) and I was excited that Madison Reed claimed to be PPD free. Then I discovered through research that they are using a PPD derivative and half of those who would react to PPD would also react to their substitute. I think it's dangerous to make the PPD-free claim for those who have a true allergy because they could still react to this. Unfortunately, there is no substitute for PPD because it's the ingredient that allows the hair color to become permanent and also to cover gray. Without it, the color would wash out in a few shampoos. I hope that someone creates a true alternative to PPD soon.

      Beauddiction see?! This is why it makes me so mad that they are spinning the truth. People CAN get hurt thinking they are safe because of it’s claims. I’m so glad that you were able to find that in your research! Thank you for your comment!

      I'm allergic to PPD too. I just recently died my hair with FERIA the color Auburn Brown Red. Though it came out gorgeous a have a major body rejection to that ingredient. The entire back of my neck, my ears, forehead, the sides of my face and my scalp broke out something awful. 😭😭. I want to try this just now I'm terrified if they do have PPD in this product. Oh boy..

      I also have a PPD allergy & was doing some research right now on it so thank you for posting. I know this doesn't help our allergy but wanted to offer some advice for my fellow allergic girls...try to take one of those 24 hour allergy pills before you start coloring. This has been such a game changer for me because it doesn't give my body time to start making histamines. It will still be a little itchy but gone are the hives, welts behind my ears & weeping. Also, I've heard that a couple packs of sweet & low in your hair dye will take down some of the bite of the PPD but not affect the dye in any way. HOPE THAT HELPS!

    I found your videos because I ordered Madison reed. I guess I was having a brave day and when it arrived I was not so brave. I ordered a box dye because I’m not well. I’m disabled on chemo. And I just can’t make an appointment to have my hair done. Because I never know if it’s going to be a good or bad day. When the pandemic started I had wanted my hair cute like yours. It had gotten really long. So I pulled it back in a rubber band and my husband cut it. It looks good but time to cut it again. He is ready and willing so I’m glad about that. So I’m going to color it with his help and get him to trim it up for me. Your looks beautiful! I really like the color. It’s a great color for you, it’s the color I ordered. I have been a brunette since my youngest child was born, I was more a lighter brown before that last pregnancy. So I hope mine looks as nice as yours. Thank you for making the video. Leslye

    The extra pigment is what you want. L'Oréal, Revlon and other box dyes have changed their formulas and they just don't have the pigment any more. So if it's darker than what the box says, you're golden!

    Thank you, I totally agree… The main reason I’m looking for natural hair color is because I’ve been coloring my hair for over 20 years and it’s now causing my scalp and hair health to decline. I have a lot of fall out after I use hair color. I’m also more gray than I used to be so it’s quite a dilemma… My only remedy for this would be to use semi permanent hair color and just blend the gray without covering it completely. Oh well :-) thanks again

    I do like the color in you. Indoors it looks dark like maybe dark brown ti natural black. But out in the sun you could see the golden undertones and it looks brown. I have tried several browns wishing it looked black indoors but brown outdoors and I have tried several and nope it just stays one color.

    Why do you object to “chemicals” so much? Until someone figures out how to make products out of antimatter, we’re all kind of stuck with using chemicals.

    • @TheBeautyRookie
      @TheBeautyRookie  4 года назад +3

      Erik Olsen I don’t! Which is why I said there is no way to color your hair without them. But it would be nice if we could find chemicals that were less damaging to our hair and to the environment, which this product claimed to do (and isn’t really factual).

    I think that what they are using is probably better for you than the other box kits and salon products that make your scalp itch ... eek. Like you said, some chemicals have to be involved to make it last and it sounds like they do a good job minimizing those with the best alternatives. Ordered mine today!

    In my opinion All companies including salons will have chemicals of some sort. They may cover up a lot of stuff to promote their own businesses. But all people that dye their hair should know that it’s bound to have a chemical in it lol it’s a matter of choice for some. But thank you for your honesty in your review. :)

    I love love your review. I have to say that most beauty products that have jumped on the bandwagon of selling a more natural products to us are spinning the truth. Replacing what we have discovered is not good for us with ingredients that we will soon discover are not good for us. I think they just shrug their shoulders and say well we are safe for now because we trust sellers too much. On the other hand can they make a great product (That the public will largely accept) without harmful ingredients? We, the people and our demands, are the ones that ultimately push companies to do this for our high expectations.

    The way I understand this is that these so called more natural brands have just as much chemicals in them to be able to do what they have to do, it's like impossible to color and cover grays without any chemicals, but the difference is that those regular chemical dyes contain 5- 6% chemicals and the more natural ones only contain 1% and this, the way I understood it, actually makes a huge difference, like breathing some second hand smoke as opposed to smoking a whole pack of cigarettes. That's what I got out of what I've been reading about this. And henna, while it's only a plant, is supposed to be problematic too because henna is a plant that's very high in heavy metals. So what do you do? I really wish I knew.

    I expect that hair color is going to contain chemicals, it's unrealistic to think otherwise. I think most of us know that. That said, what I do appreciate about the Madison reed hair color is the lack of smell. I tried e-salon, but that stuff smelled so bad, it would give me a headache and my scalp did burn a little. So, whatever the difference is in the chemical make up of Madison reed, I do appreciate it. No yucky smell, no headache and no burning scalp. Thanks for your review though.

The color is beautiful that she uses on my hair. My hair is medium brown. Although, I have a lot of gray hair, underneath my brown hair. I go every four to six weeks to touch up the gray. And, every six months to refresh the highlights. She uses Matrix hair color. It's one of the best hair color ever! I love it!! It looks very natural. So, I don't think I will stop going to her anytime soon. Thanks, anyway. 😊

    Just found your channel. This video was very informative. I had really high hopes for this brand. Last year I started noticing more grey hair coming in and was so nerves bout coloring my natural curly hair. So I thought I done my research on the "more healthier" color hair brand? I made a BIG mistake and now my beautiful natural curly hair is damaged! I am a big supporter in SheaMoisture brand for my curly hair and when I found they have a color safe box dye, I was all for it. My hair is damaged! It's dry, brittle, dull, my curl pattern has changed. Mind you , I do not use any heat tools, so I thought why is my hair so fried? Yeap it was that SheaMoisture box dye. Can you please give me suggestions on what hair color I should use for my curly grey hair? Thank you in advance.

    • @TheBeautyRookie
      @TheBeautyRookie  6 лет назад +2

      Curls & Curves honestly, as much as I hate to say it, but I would say with gorgeous natural curly hair, I’d go to a stylist. Stylists are trained on how to color hair without damaging your hair like Box dye does. I’d maybe have a consultation with a colorist in your area and see if you can only have your greys done, which would cut your cost and damage. Technically there’s nothing “healthy” about dyes, but there are many salon brands that are more gentle. I hate to recommend any at home color, because I worked at a salon for 2 years and I saw some horrible horrible damaged hair from it.

    Thanks so much for your honesty. I have been wondering about the truth behind the brand and hate to say, assumed there were omissions regarding ingredient explanations.
    Yes, there are no purely green and safe hair coloring products. But I deeply wish that some company would work on the chemistry and get as close as possible! Clearly, Madison-Reed is not that company but to their credit, they do not claim to be.
    Thanks again, this is exactly what I needed, as I was going to make the purchase today. Considering I have to color every 6 weeks or so to keep gray from taking over my look, I am going to stick with my salon for now ( "all natural"- I'm convinced the salon color reps don't tell the stylists the whole truth so they can't lie to customers- so unfortunate to be so cynical.)

    Seriously chick you can't have it both ways geeeez .. If you're happy with the results leave it at that quit trashing the product as you stated 99 times you're not an expert in anything so IMO you're making it come over as tho you didn't get some kind of promotional deal from the company and furthermore it doesn't matter which brand you use home or otherwise its going to have 1 or 20 unsure of chemicals in it...For someone who seems so concerned about chemicals why didn't you do your homework prior to use instead of after? Did you research the product your stylist uses on your hair either before, during or after ? I'm going to assume not! My advice to you or anyone else with chemical concerns would be to stick with whatever color the good lord gave ya! Lastly watch your video please we didn't your back and forth when one or once was all we needed !

      Leighanne Hammons thank you for your very rude and unhelpful comment. This is free content. I posted it to help other people. I wasn’t paid by the company or did they send me free product, I paid for it myself. I then took 5 hours of my life to make a FREE video in hopes that it would help someone deciding if they should use it. You didn’t have to watch, you didn’t have to continue watching when you decided you didn’t like me, and you certainly didn’t need to spend 5 minutes writing me a nasty comment. If I’m not your cup of tea, there’s a million other reviews and channels to watch. A little kindness towards someone you don’t know, specially when they are providing you with free content, goes a long way. Have a nice day.

      Geez!!! Could you be any more rude??!!! Some of us actually appreciate the reviews. Especially since we don't have time or don't want to read the ingredients. What's most important to me is that the product is vegan and cruelty free. That being said!- I still want to see how the product performs. So if you want to be rude, please kindly leave this channel.
