Praying for you Sheldon! I've just discovered "Mental Prayer" which is so much more than it sounds; it's encountering God's great love for us face-to-face. (GabiAfterHours has at least 2 good videos about it.) We'll keep praying for you; keep us posted how you're doing. God will heal you. I know it's not the same, but I feel compelled to write a story from my life here. Long ago in my 19 year battle with smoking cigarettes, I quit smoking cigarettes cold turkey and it went great(!) ...for 2 full years until someone at work lit 2 cigarettes and handed me one. Boom. I went right back to 2.5 packs per day. I was devastated, enslaved again, just like that. A year(?) later from the depths of my very being (for about the millionth time!) in self loathing I cried out to the Lord; I'd run out of plans/schemes to quit. I cried but then became completely still, without a thought in my mind. It was then that I felt God quietly give me a mental key; He said, "[Now] you don't smoke [simply] because you are a non-smoker." It took a while starting from 2.5 packs of 20 cigarettes per day, but God gave me the grace to commit to smoking just 1 cigarette fewer per day, but I could snuff out then re-light each one as often as I liked until it was gone. Then came the day I was down to just 2 cigarettes for the day. God spoke to me again, "How about saving these last 2 until you really them? You could keep them in your beloved cigarette box and keep your precious gold butane lighter you love so much in there too, so you're all set should you need them." That was October 17, 1987. To this day I've never needed them and never will. I carried that cigarette box containing those last 2 cigarettes and my beautiful gold butane lighter for years. I still love the aroma of tobacco on the rare occasion I pass someone on the street smoking, but as a non-smoker, I have zero interest. My heart smiles and fills with the warm memory of what God did for me all those decades ago. You have a 'God and you' story written in your heart too; everyone of us does. You will live to write it someday to inspire someone else. God is with you Sheldon. 💛✝️🕊 🌿
