Great video. I'm 67, and a life-long railroad buff. And this is the first time seeing this operation take place. Proves...you never stop LEARNING, when you think you've seen it all. Thanks very much.

Another great video! Thank you for the effort you put forth and sharing. Years ago, I watched a maintenance team replace rails on a section of local track. They gave me a couple of small pieces of rail that I still use today in my shop as anvils.

That is really great. I see rail cars go by our place all the time in New Mexico, but never seen them unload. What an operation.

Great video! Thank you! ( I still can't see how these cars go round bends when joined up by STRAIGHT rails - loads of ! Some forces needed to bend it!)

The rail is secured in the middle. It can expand and contract on both ends

I think each rail section is 1/4 mile long--worked a summer job which welded these rails together in a separate location..Rolled out on the flat roller cars for delivery. I never saw them installed--thx for video

Rail Unloader Machine (RUM). The highway wheels permit the machine to be driven to a grade crossing to be connected to the rail train.
