      I just purchased a CRV Gen3 here in Australia it's the luxury version, top of the line.
      2.4 petrol 5speed Auto. It's Beige with beige interior. I had a Gen 2 not long ago and this seems like an awesome vehicle. I will be doing a video on my channel soon, about it.😊

    I don't mind the body shape of the Gen 3. But overall the Gen 2 is the pick of the bunch, especially the update version 05/06, just a classic vehicle all round.

      I'd say exactly the opposite! The nose of the crv3 bothers me a lot and it lost its backpack's wheel

      Gen3 is much better, better equipped, more comfortable, better road holding, consumes less fuel
      English-made Crv 2 also boasts impeccable assembly and finish quality, and not a hint of noise after 18 years... But surely the European equipment manufacturers who supplied the parts did a rogue's job?? I think so

    Hello, I am a camping RUclipsr from South Korea. I watched your videos to decide where I can go with my CRV 2nd and filmed a lot of videos. I want to say thank you and whenever I go somewhere, I watch your videos to see if my car can go. I sometimes failed on rough roads. The reason was a problem with the knock sensor and after replacing it, I was able to climb places I couldn't climb before. Anyway, I want to put on At tires like you and go to more places. CRV, fighting!! Please upload the next video!!

      Hi, I'm so glad you're interested. Plus, I have a very positive relationship with South Korea. I've been involved in your national sport (Taekwondo) since I was young. I watched your videos and they are very nice, I subscribed. I recommend the Yokohama Geolandar GO15 AT. They do a good job and are not that expensive. Just not good for muddy terrain. I'll start shooting new videos again soon... I've been busy lately. I'm planning a big video right now. Comparing the SUV - Honda CR-V and the OFFROAD - Land Rover Discovery 2. I'm planning a lot of videos, it's just not going as fast as I'd like right now.

    How is your fuel consumption? It looks like you prefer the 2nd Gen with the 2.0 i-VTEC over the 2.2 i-CTDi (2nd Gen). Can you tell me why? Greetings

    • @OutOfTheWay4x4
      @OutOfTheWay4x4  7 дней назад

      Hi, the petrol i-VTEC and diesel i-CTDi are both reliable engines. The diesel is more suited to longer journeys and is not good for frequent starting. Especially if the car has a DPF, short journeys are very bad for it. The diesel is great for motorways and off-road it has more torque and therefore more power. The petrol engine, on the other hand, handles short journeys and city commuting better. It's lower maintenance and has no turbo. At the time I bought the petrol CR-V, we often took it on short journeys. Consumption on the i-VTEC is between 8 - 11 litres / 100 km. More like 9-10. The diesel is much more fuel efficient. It's about 6 - 8 litres / 100 km. Both engines are excellent, but it rather depends on what the car is intended for. By the way, I don't know of any bad engine under the hood of a Honda. Honda engines are simply the most reliable.

    I've been watching your CRV videos all week 👍, looking at getting a Gen 3 petrol due to emissions restrictions in the UK. How is the road noise in the Gen 3? Does the ride feel comfortable?

      road noise in the Gen3 is better than in the Gen2, but a little worse than in other vehicles of the same era, but I think it's the tires that make a big difference

      @@rayal4860 thank you! I have a Nissan Patrol ATM which has great sound deadening but is terrible on the road. Trying to get a balance between the two vehicles and the MK3 ticks a lot of boxes

      Hi, as I write everywhere here.. the CRV Gen3 is the most comfortable car I have ever driven.. its handling is great. It's quiet. Most cars today can't match it for comfort. It's also practical. With the petrol variant, it's also great and extremely reliable. Just expect fuel consumption to be a little higher than a normal smaller car. But you'll save on servicing. Remember that the oil in the rear differential always needs to be changed after a few years.

    • @OutOfTheWay4x4
      @OutOfTheWay4x4  2 месяца назад

      @Michael-mh5pu Just remember that the Patrol is a full-blooded offroad with solid axles, a rigid frame, differential lock and a reduction gearbox. The CRV is a regular SUV by comparison. Although extremely high quality...

      @Michael-mh5pu 2 месяца назад

      @@OutOfTheWay4x4 thank you. Yes I no longer require the rigidness of a ladder on frame 4x4 with locking diffs etc. It has been a great vehicle but each year more difficult to repair. A lot of headaches getting parts and as it's a large vehicle no garages want to work on them, so every repair requires a lot of personal time to be invested.
      Thanks again

    Did you own 2nd gen with manual and auto gearbox? If yes, which one do you think is better for everyday use and some mild offloading as you do? Did you have some noticable differences in fuel consumption?

    • @OutOfTheWay4x4
      @OutOfTheWay4x4  2 месяца назад +2

      I've had all CRV's with manual transmissions, but a friend has a gen 2 with an automatic and he's very complimentary about it.. the consumption is about a litre more with the automatic. Both types of transmissions are very reliable, so I guess it depends on personal choice..

    • @OutOfTheWay4x4
      @OutOfTheWay4x4  2 месяца назад +1

      In light terrain, each gearbox has its advantages. Manual transmission can rev the engine faster and automatic transmission doesn't destroy the clutch 🙂

    • @JoweJ93
      @JoweJ93 2 месяца назад +1

      @OutOfTheWay4x4 Thanks, mate! Looking to buy one and burning the clutch is my biggest concern. Is the 1st gear on manuals very short to compensate for the lack of proper gear reduction? I heard Dacia Duster does it.

    • @OutOfTheWay4x4
      @OutOfTheWay4x4  2 месяца назад

      @@JoweJ93 Not much can be said about the CRV's ability to replace the work of a reduction gearbox. Yes, I know the Dacia Duster has a short 1 gear, but it's certainly not a full replacement for a reduction gearbox. My reduction gearbox in the Discovery 2 has full 1-5 gears and reverse. I can't imagine driving in heavier terrain without a true reduction gearbox... Unfortunately, the Honda CRV only has a conventional manual transmission. If I were buying a CRV again, I would probably opt for an automatic transmission. But it mainly depends on the overall condition of the car

    • @rayal4860
      @rayal4860 2 месяца назад

      I don't know if the Duster's 1st gear is short, but the Crv's with the K20 is quite short and sufficient in most cases.

      Hey. As I've written here before, they've all been excellent. Apart from the DPF fault on the gen3 diesel, I've never had any faults with these cars... the gen3 is more of a Croosover. It was, however, the most comfortable car I've ever driven. Best on the road too... But the classic look of the gen2 appealed to me. And the higher ground clearance of the gen2... it's a good old SUV. They were all fine. Now I have a black gen 2. It's in great condition and has all the equipment. So the last black one is the best...

      @@OutOfTheWay4x4 seriously though, it seems the gen 1 and gen 2 CR-V s have more creature comforts than its RAV4 peers. The latter looks to be more Spartan. So is it pricier?
      Where I'm at, I think the Gen 1 rav4 is more expensive than its CR-V contemporary just because it's less common in the pre owned market as far as I can tell. Both have cult followings though with the Honda one having a more numerous and dedicated fan base it seems. Same goes with their gen 2 successor.

      @@RampartPh Yes, the CR-V gen1 and 2 is more comfortable than the Rav4 from the same era. In my opinion, the CR-V is more tuned for daily driving and family. Rav4 on the other hand is more compact and agile for off road driving. It has permanent 4x4 drive compared to the CR-V and some Rav4s have differential lock. But the Rav4 is definitely not an uncomfortable car..Both cars are great. The CR-V and Rav4 are the pioneers of the SUV category.
