Oh the Nostalgia! I absolutely loved this tutorial... id love to see a whole regiment of these! Can't wait to see what you do with the skaven. Im currently playing a rat faction in a game called Darklands! It'll be great inspiration for me!
Thank you Kelvin. I’m thinking Empire will be next after the Brets, but we shall see. Is that the game from Mierce Miniatures? Some lovely models in that range.
@@MiniatureRealms That is correct. Expensive, but definitely worth the money if you like fantastic sculpts. Darkland's is a new project for me, I am still learning the game with only a demo game under my belt.
Thank you. I have a lot more planned, but will probably cycle through a few more factions before I return to Empire. You may find a suitable blue recipe in an upcoming one that you can apply to the rest of this one.
Hurra! The Empire! I think this is a very helpful tutorial. That being said it also shows that even the 25mm base is not enough to rank and file the very ugly spear and halbert poses of this kit, unless you pose them even more ugly. Even this is your front row, you prevent other formations to make contact. Imagine how you would hold a spear with two hands and watch what this miniature is doing. I've ever wondered how it is possible that GW is failing in so many levels with this set.
Thank you. Yeah I didn’t build these, I have a whole unit of 30 ready assembled. Most of the others have their spears pouting up more, and they all rank (just) on 20mm. I picked this guy with the spear held lower as it would’ve easier to see the face on camera.
Thank you. That’s the key with these tutorials, they explain a method I use, but it’s very easy to take that and swap out a couple of colours and keep the method. 🙂
This is a really impressive result that I did not think was possible with contrast paints. I tried my hand at adapting it to a purple and white scheme, but did not have nearly the success you had. I am wondering if it's purely a skill issue or if the Xpress Deep Purple doesn't lend itself as much to the large flat areas that make painting State Troops so tricky with contrast.
You might be right about the large areas, I’ve only used the colour so far on small areas of skin. Id possibly look at the Citadel Contrast purples for that, but I think Leviadon Purple is the dark one they do. But I’ve not tried it in that application.
Now I’ve not used any spray white for years now, so any recommendations come with that caveat. If you’re looking for a white to go over black as a zenithal, then Tamiya do some small cans that will give you a little more control. They’re not cheap though. If you’re just looking to spray the whole model white, then Colour Forge are worth a look. I’ve used their Black and it was fantastic.
That’s fair enough, I’m afraid I can’t control the number RUclips inserts, the options are limited 6 seems crazy for this short length of video. I watch all my videos through once on another account to make sure they’ve uploaded properly, there was only two adds, one at the start and one at the end.
That’s good to hear it’s not everyone then. The two short ones at the start of most videos seems pretty standard these day, I guess YT went a bit crazy on poor @Blaxkleric.
Thank you 🙂. Using the same methods, I’d mostly like use Contrast Nazdreg Yellow , then for the green Vallejo Xpress Colour Lizard Green (or Contrast Dark Angels Green) as the base colours.
I really like these Empire models. But too busy with greenskins.. But the range is nice. Much more so than the over the top and over-performing GW glory boyz Chaos etc.
@@MiniatureRealms I would love to get my hands on some Free Company/Mordheim sprues as well as the later, 7th Ed Archers though. :) For Mordheim if nothing else.. But it is tempting to make Empire after all, I do like them.. Much more interesting than many other armies. Seems to be more tactical to play as well.
@@MiniatureRealms yeah i never had any of the newer, was out of the hobby then.. They look great! Would be great with the Free Company again too. So many retired, amazing kitz.. :(
Lovely!
Thank you 🙂
Tomb Kings are cool. They have a cool and iconic look.
I’m working on getting hold of some for a guitar tutorial 🤞.
Great guide. These look really good on 25mms
Thank you 😊
I'm a fan of this miniature. Subscribed.
Thank you 😊
This is great, definitely some techniques I'll be employing when I get to painting up my Marienburgers!
Thank you Jordan, glad you’ve found it helpful 🙂
Thanks for this, I have been trying to figure out a way forward to paint a Drakwald Patrol from Hochland and this really helps.
Thank you, glad you’ve found it helpful 🙂
Ooooh Tomb Kings will be cool. Looking forward to the Clanrat.
Tomb Kings are the post, so them and the Clan rat will be the next couple 🙂
Awesome! I love your tutorials. I’m a Middemheimer but it’s still useful, thanks!
Thank you 😊
Really enjoying your video tutorials! Easy to follow techniques and good instructions, Thanks!
Thank you Nick 😊
Good stuff, thanks for the video.
Thank you Robin 🙂
Cool video, makes me want to start an empire army. Can't wait for the skaven video!
Thank you 🙂, Skaven mini is prepped and ready to go, just have a couple of other videos in the queue first, but won’t be too long.

Canny beat empire. Stunning as always
Cheers dude 🙂
Excellent as always Stu. You make it look so easy but the finished miniature is always awesome 👍 Stevie
Thank you Stevie 🙂
Lovely work!
Thank you 😊
Beautiful looking figure, but I much prefer the old sculps with the puffy sleeves. Much better than the jumpsuit this one is wearing.
Thank you. I loved those sculpts as well, had a mixture in my Empire army during 8th Ed.
Very useful tutorial and very nice finish. Only thing I would add is maybe some sepia wash on the scroll on his left leg
Thank you 🙂
I really like your tutorials, hope to see more of them, maybe soldiers of middenheim?

I’m painting up an averland force at the moment
Awesome stuff, I’m looking forward to getting started on my Empire once my Brets are out of the way.

Will for sure have to see if these techniques can speed up my Empire warmaster army when I finally get set back up painting 😂
Oh I think they will work very nicely, I use them myself on 10 & 15mm models. 🙂
Great tutorial, im going follow this but replace red with blue for my middenheim army

Great vid m8..I really like how u don't fly thru each phase super quick and great presentation too..

Looking as usual, think there needs to be a vlog update of some description on how many projects are now on the go!😬🤣
😅 I think the answer is more than practicable.
What brand of white rattle can primer would you recommend if I wanted to achieve similar results?
Now I’ve not used any spray white for years now, so any recommendations come with that caveat.

Its possible to take these with shield and spears. is it possible to model that from the kit?
From memory yes, spears, shields and hand weapon options are all available.
The spear would weight approximately 40 lbs, if all metal.
Kindly repaint the haft brown.
😂
Interesting Talabheim? Shame Lol otherwise top job mate
😂 Thank you
@MiniatureRealms can't wait for your Riekland guide, lol
I worry about how I’ll get on with the white and red 😆
@MiniatureRealms youll be fine brother. Maybe some Carroburg Greatswords (predominantly red) ;)
Reaĺly good tutorial, right up until you suggested you don't have to paint base rims black!!
😆 Thought I’d keep the brown rimmers happy (that doesn’t look good out of context).
Hmmm… six adverts in and I’m still only halfway through the tutorial. So I’m afraid I’m giving up on this one Stu. :-(

That’s really unlucky, I only got the two adverts at the start.

@@MiniatureRealms Bizarrely, I got none catching up on your 15mm Desert Rats update/tutorial. Perhaps I had done my advert penance by then..? LOL!!!
😆 Probably something like that.
very cool video as always!! to do stirland, what kind of yellows and greens would you use for the uniforms?
Thank you 🙂. Using the same methods, I’d mostly like use Contrast Nazdreg Yellow , then for the green Vallejo Xpress Colour Lizard Green (or Contrast Dark Angels Green) as the base colours.
Never came across Nazdreg Yellow i'll try it. Thank you!! @@MiniatureRealms
