I was stationed there in 1970 and1971. Marine air control squadron 2. There are no more air control squadrons, but our HQ and radar facilities were on Mokapu Rd. on the other side of the runway. We overlooked Pyramid Rock beach and basically had it to ourselves. Our HQ and motor pool buildings are still there but the radar site is all grown over like it never existed. Our barracks is still there on KBay Rd. near 5th St. right next to the mess hall. Hawaii was an absolute paradise.

Nice seeing the base again. I used to make friends with Marines (especially the boots) back in the 90s. Lost a couple of them due to Desert Storm. What I've learned from the many grunts I'd met, was the worst enemy of a Marine, which was loneliness. Semper Fi!

things have really changed. I was there for 4 and a half years in 1974, a gunnery sergeant, and what you're showing here is completely foreign to me. I never heard of Marine corps base Hawaii. I was stationed at MCAS Kaneohe Bay. I lived across the street from the SNCO club/golf course. I loved it. old school...

I was just at MCBH for my friend's wedding, and it is such a beautiful area. My friend is a surfer girl who thinks it is the best base to be at.

Had to come visit, where my childhood took place. Haven’t been there in 10 years, and mainly grew up on that marine base that we lived on for 8 years. Sadly they tore down one of the HOA base housings, I use to live in

I did 2 years in the army and 4 in the Marnes, I really would prefer to stay away from military bases. Your video reminded me of this guy who was in our platoon, he wanted to go" Over the hill " , he almost made it out the gate, he was dressed as a civilian, in Camp Pendleton , then he lost his nerve as he saw the gate's MP, man was I glad I had declined his invitation to join him in the escape attempt, he he he.

You would do better to focus more on the base than your faces if you really want people to see what it looks like. I lived on that base for 3 years and didnt recognize anything, its changed alot since 1975-1978. Maybe you cant show more of the base than you did....
