Music video by Indigo Girls performing Least Complicated. (C) 1994 SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT
Indigo Girls comment section is life affirming and will warm your soul on a cold day.
Met them in Berkley at Blakes Restaurant in 1994. I approached them, asked if they were the IGs. They politely said yes. I told them I liked their music and wished them well, they responded in kind. Very nice ladies. I then went back to my job and cooked for them. Never forgot how genuinely pleasant and nice they were to me as an average Joe who just walked up to them.
These songs do not age. Still so good 30 yrs later. I remember my oldest sister listening to these ladies when I was a little guy :)
My older sister Val played this on repeat ❤ I hated it at the time but now I freaking love it 😊
I get to see them tomorrow night, in Decatur Alabama. These 2 have long been on my bucket list of performances I want to see
No way!! That’s less than an hour away from me. I can’t believe I missed this somehow?
@@justtryme2020 Not sure which direction you are an hour away,,,,,but they will be in Nashville, the end of May 2025. They will be performing with the Nashville symphony orchestra. I am buying tickets already
I’m obsessed with this video. Isn’t it ironic that this wonderfully complicated video accompanies a song called “Least Complicated “. Mind officially blown!
I’m very certain MTV did not bless this with much AirPlay sadly and I only just discovered the brilliant visuals today myself 💜🤘💜🤘
@@johnIZaUWL this was one of the first videos done with a software program called After Effects (version3), which in the years following has become the premier motion graphics program. This video was VERY ahead of it's time
Easily one of the best songs in existence
Definitely not
It for sure is great. So much talent. I am kinda partial to "Power of Two" but don't know if I could choose a favorite out of the of the ones I love of theirs.
I agree. Love them. Love this song!
My Father introduced me to these ladies. He usually only listens to music is the category of 'sad white men' but he adores the Indigo Girls. He said their concert is one of the best he's ever been to.
I'll be that dad someday very soon.
These ladies are humbling with this kind of talent and insight. Bless them.
maybe 8 years ago now I saw them for $15 and before they killed it they apologized for us having to pay that they simply just want to share their music that to them is equal to love and understanding they are the best
I was a Metalhead, a strict regimen of crushing chords and all that back in my youth, but I always admired your harmonies, you don't see that often.
Me too I’m a metal head but if it’s good it’s good and this is very good
Ditto! I toured and played in hardcore and metal bands but IG has always cut through. They have this punk ethos that feels very DIY. Also… songs that are solid and catchy as hell.
The drummer absolutely drives this song from start to finish
one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. It brings back so many friends memories and good times bad times. 25 years later I now truly understand what they were trying to tell me.
In 1996 i bought a Packard Bell desktop computer and it came with a bunch of bundled sampler ect stuff... this song/video was on a cd sampler..23 years later i re-examined it and it still works...that little girl of 6 i got the computer for is grown with a Masters and lives far away......
swampfizz You did your job. I hope I can say the same someday.
how can they still be talking for me ?they must be ahead of their time
Omg. After all these years I still get filled hearing this. New meanings, understands and wisdom....oh my what a great song
Exactly the same here! You put into words what I could not❤️
@@justtryme2020 thank you.
Decades later and this song is still amazing and makes me think.
I am seeing them in March. It will be like my 10th concert of theirs I believe. There is nothing like it. I LOVE THESE TWO!!!!!!!
In 1990 a friend of mine, with whom I had been in love heavily (ok, it was more from my side than from her...) brought me a tape with their first LP when she returned from a school exchange program ... Ever since, those overwhelming musicians are a part of my life.
Thank you for the music
denial is still love
heheh... the song is called least complicated and this song happens to be one of the most complicated ones they've written, with all that harmony and such. oh, the irony. i love this song.
AnimeNixieArtist wow did not know bit i van have an idea....its not easy as easy as it sounds..😁
Tried to learn Emily‘s part on guitar… I can’t do it
@@shyannevasquez5257 Keep trying. You'll like the results over time.
Drums, Bongos and Percussion by Jerry Marotta.
I saw these lovely ladies my senior year of hs ... '98 ... in Chattanooga and it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. So many great memories b/c of these ladies.
Rest in Peace my dear friend Danielle. I’ll always think of our youth when I hear this song. I miss you already. 💜
I’m sorry you lost your friend 💜
This has always been so lovely, positive and life affirming, and such a great singalong. After 30 years it's still so fresh!
Discovered Rites of passage working in a CD store in '92. Met my wife in '94, she turned me on to the earlier stuff & I've loved it all since. And I know good music!
This song sort of puts things into perspective for me.
No one compares to this right here. I’ll be seeing them soon for the 4th time at jazz fest ‘19. It’s always exciting when they roll into NOLA.
I've seen them 4 or 5 times myself. They're just so amazing!
Saw them in 1993 on their $10 Tour. Amazing!
I live in New Orleans... I will be here waiting on them!!! This was my high school music... seems like yesterday... this is real music♥️💛
Their music was my life's soundtrack in my college years.
Thank you. You two were there when I felt most alone more than 20 years ago. Thank you.
I always feel so understood when I hear that line: "A kind of conscientious objection. A kind of dodging the draft."
This song takes me back and at the same time takes me forward .
Memories........and ideas...
I remember the perfectness of the moment I first heard this song...
Me too :) I was 14 and my big sister let me in her room while she got ready for bed and the memory will never not make me cry with nostalgia.
INDIGO GIRLS - I found a cd at a thrift store. I had not heard of them. I think they are so wonderful together and there lyrics and harmony is beautiful that I bought 5 more cds. I think they are truly original and the most talented duo in the world.
Love you all! Thanks for sharing your gift of music with the world ❤️❤️🌈🌈☺️☺️
Back in the 90s, I interpreted this into ASL as my final project. I am such a sucker for Indigo....always have been.
Man I wld love to see a video of you signing this song... Ckdnt have been ASL 1 cuz it is way too fast for a beginner. My step brother is deaf, so I used to love going to church with him and watching the girl sign all the hymns. there is this cute couple on RUclips that sign songs together.... Well mainly the chick but her husband participates on the easy parts... They are Soo cute together... Sigh... Paul and Tina songs in sign language. Check em out
~I remember the time when I came so close to you.~
~Sent me skippin' my class and runnin' from school~
I have loved this song for over 20 years and hearing it brings the memories back so vividly❤️
1994
And most underappreciated, too. :(
LOVE LOVE their harmonies!!!!
+Jessica Catalano not since CSN and simon and garfunkle has there been such harmonies....#nuffsaid
I've long said that IG are the political, social, and musical extension of S&G :-)
Half S&G, Half Joni Mitchell...with (for Amy, at least), a little punk sensibility thrown in.
Beautiful I love that song
Jessica Catalano you said it Sis, I don't know if there's anyone else doing as tight harmonies as they are.
"I bought you that ring 'cause I never was cool."
Same!
Such a good song to help coping with my boyfriend's emotions to things and my own.
Reminds me of good times in my life
So many people I'll never see again that are connected to me by this song. I still love all of you. I hope life has been beautiful.
My hide in the basement and get in touch with my sad feelings song from high school. I've always loved this song.
A true classic from the 90's and my teenage years.
Pretty cool how they put the chord progression at the bottom
Best music video I’ve ever seen. It actually adds to the musical enjoyment! Perfection of the highest order. Fade out to bongos.
Still listening here in the Philippines. Fantastic.
What golden voices
Still breaks me to this day.
I sit two stories above the street
It's awful quiet here since love fell asleep
There's life down below me though
The kids are walking home from school
Some long ago when we were taught
That for whatever kind of puzzle you got
You just stick the right formula in
A solution for every fool
I remember the time when I came so close to you
Sent me skipping my class and running from school
And I bought you that ring 'cause I never was cool
What makes me think I could start clean slated
The hardest to learn was the least complicated
Oh, I just sit up in the house and resist
And not be seen until I cease to exist
A kind of conscientious objection
A kind of dodging the draft
The boy and girl are holding hands on the street
And I don't want to but I think you just wait
It's more than just eye to eye
Learn the things I could never apply
I remember the time when I came so close with you
I let everything go it seemed the only truth
And I bought you that ring, it seemed the thing to do
What makes me think I could start clean slated
The hardest to learn was the least complicated
So what makes me think I could start clean slated
The hardest to learn was the least complicated
Oh, I'm just a mirror of a mirror myself
All the things that I do
And the next time I fall I'm gonna have to recall
It's isn't love it's only something new
I sit two stories above the street
It's awful quiet here since love fell asleep
There's life down below me though
The kids are walking home from school
I remember the time when I came so close with you
Sent me skipping my class and running from school
And I bought you that ring 'cause I never was cool
What makes me think I could start clean slated
The hardest to learn was the least complicated
So what makes me think I could start clean slated
The hardest to learn was the least complicated
The least complicated
The least complicated
The story of the life of others that didn't fit in for any reasons.
underrated
I once listened to an accapella / beat box version of this song, I loved it and can not find it anywhere.
cute video, like the footnotes. dont know how long ive listened to them, maybe ince i was 6, im 13 now
Hahaha me and my sister rocked the hell outta this song!! Awesome memories with this song!!
So beautiful!!! Thank you for the song.
I love this song; the vocal arrangements are amazing, and the video is great too, especially the skeletons :)
When I was attending Cal the Golding Overtones would sing this almost every week. I would make sure to leave class a little early to get a spot!!
I took an ASL class decades ago and this song was my final project. Saw them in the mid-90s at an outdoor venue in downtown San Diego, the Harbor, a 5 block walk from where I lived. OMG....a perfect day, billowy puffy clouds, love in the air, and it was free! It was so wonderful!! Ah...The last of the good ol' days.
Saw these ladies in concert years ago in Phoenix. One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. They were amazing.
If you listen carefully to the bass in this song it is really awesome!
I love the harmonies on this song so much.
What a great song and complimentary video
This was my song to you Danielle. I told you this about a month before you passed. I miss you very much and wish you were still here with me. Until we meet again.
I like the narrative vibe. Folk music with bounce and brightness.
brings me back to my college years Great times and music
And yes Steve, I even did want to love you back again, a long, long time ago.. when I came so close with you...that it did seem to be the only truth... what makes me think I could start being slated, when the hardest to learn was the least complicated ? Love, Margot
I love all indigo girls
to the 8 thumbs down, your precious Nikki Minaj or crappy Lumineers will never achieve this level of talent!
