I feel like the design of the guitar is the closest thing to Prince's style. It's flamboyant. And the cover does the song justice. Absolutely mesmerizing!
I used to work for a company that was providing gear for Prince and his keyboardist. He was someone very talented, with an incredible ears that could hear every single tiny mistake by a band member… but he was unfortunately also suffering of deep depression. After he played purple rain in the rain during the Super Bowl, he was very depressed… it must be hard to live such ups & downs that very few people can know. As someone suffering also of clinical depression, everytime I hear this song, I have a thought for Prince; it reminds me that all glory, fame, money and celebrity status can’t help you when you’re suffering from the inside.
I always feel like this song is very depressing. I just watched the Syracuse version. And starting from the intro, with the raining guitar riff and pumping drum, it just makes me feel like it's the beating of a broken heart. It is so touching that my eyes got wet instantly.

That’s definitely a Prince guitar. He was so unrecognized for his guitar skills. He was up there with all the legends. He played every instrument too basically, what a talent. I don’t even really listen to prince but I could recognize how insanely God powered skill he was. He really was a genius.

With the multitude of pickup switching, Plectrumelectrum would showcase the tonal capabilities beautifully, as would anything off of LOtUSFLOW3R, the inspiration of the lotus flower vine inlay in the neck. It's a rock machine that gets the endorphins going :-)
That portion from 6:06-6:18 is honestly some of the most emotive guitar playing I have ever heard. The goosebumps here were absolutely through the roof.
You really need to check out John Petrucci's cover of Purple Rain. It's mind blowing. Definitely the best cover I have ever come across. He was ranked as the second best metal guitarist after Dave Mustaine. He was also named as one of the "Top 10 Greatest Guitar Shredders of All Time" by GuitarOne magazine. I promise that you won't regret it, not for a moment.
I'm quite picky about Prince covers and especially covers of Purple Rain. But the guitar caught my attention.....and then your playing blew me away!!! Wow....outside of Prince himself and Wendy from the Revolution, this is hands down the best cover I've heard!! I dare say Prince himself would have been impressed!

I'm quite picky about Prince covers and especially covers of Purple Rain. But the guitar caught my attention.....and then your playing blew me away!!! Wow....outside of Prince himself and Wendy from the Revolution, this is hands down the best cover I've heard!! I dare say Prince himself would have been impressed!
