Taunts have the power to shift the fight out to the real world. They're perfectly safe for online matches, though, so you can pick on your opponent for an easier win
It is actually saying "Fuck it up y'all" it's a common sample used in underground hip hop music from the 90s so I wouldnt be surprised if our over lord koshiro used it
To save the game in "Linkle Liver Story" press start on the map (globe) screen in between areas. Also, there is an English translation patch now available.
Phew... I was scarred for a second. I can imagine it's tough to keep the show running and deliver 2 episodes every month. Thanks a lot for sticking with GS Merry Christmas guys.
Super Ninja-kun has nothing to do with Ninja Kid on NES is an localization of a Famicom Game Gegege no Kitaro Based on the popular Anime and Manga Series of the same name, just for letting you know Game Sack.
Whoops, actualyl the first game was Ninja-kun Majo No Bouken. I think that's where Game Sack got confused since the protagonist for that game was also called Ninja Kid.
I have mixed feelings about WD. Yes, they did (relatively) high quality translations in the era when everyone else was doing all your base are belong to us and victoly, and they stand out for that...but they also tend to inject really immature humor and stupid Americanisms into their translations, and the games would've been better off without that.
They also tended to artificially increase the difficulty and playtime by raising up the values way too high. And while they messed around in the code searching for said values, sometimes bugs and breaks happened. That's why their version of Exile: Wicked Phenomenon is unbeatable, and first hours of the Lunar games were so freaking tedious.
In art of fighting the taunt serves the purpose of reducing the special move bar of your oponnent and on street fighter 3 third strike doing your taunt move several times gave your character a special stat bonus
Thanks guys! Just what the doctor ordered for Christmas, not even kidding. I'll be heartbroken when you guys finally pack it in, but 210 episodes is AMAZING! The legend of Game Sack continues to grow!
Thank god, I thought you guys were going to ruin Christmas by ACTUALLY dissolving into oblivion. ;) Congratulations on 10 Left in Japan episodes, and 210 episodes overall. Thank you for all the years of quality entertainment. I don't know if you guys look back at the early episodes too often, but it's amazing how you've grown. When it comes to production quality, this feels like an actual TV show nowadays!
Game Sack: thanks so much for including Vatlva on the show. I hope you enjoyed it. It is good to see that game get attention. I know some about the game since I own it & there isn't much about it on the Internet. I am surprised you didn't mention the weapon modification system. When playing through the single player mode, you earn credits which can be used to buy weapons for any of the 8 cars (3 have to be unlocked by playing through single player mode 3 times, the character doesn't matter it seems). You can then save this configuration to your system memory & use it in the multi-player mode for any of the other vehicles. I usually pick the middle control scheme. It is a bit picky, but I didn't like the other two. You can edit the time & amount of rounds to play in the settings. There is a small language barrier in the game as the main menu & custom kart settings are in Japanese. This make it a bit difficult to figure out what weapons do what. You just have to go into the game & figure out what you want. There is another option in the settings allowing you to change your kart configuration during the singe player mode. I have not messed with it much since, you can make it where you can breeze through all the matches if you want to unlock all three boss vehicles. One thing, I find annoying about the multi-player mode, is when you are in the car selection settings you cannot back out to the main menu. At least, I have never found a way. Feel free to correct me. That was long, but it is a fantastic game. One of many 4+ player games on the Sega Saturn.
Taunting is akin to sticking your tongue out at your opponent. Sometimes a taunt can even give a minuscule amount of damage. When I used to play SF III: Third Strike I would play as Sean. His taunt was throwing a basketball at his opponent. And my favorite thing to do was KO my someone with his taunt. In the same game Dudley also had a taunt that gave damage as he threw a rose. Oh and I almost forgot, Q's taunt in Third Strike made him stronger if you were able to do it three times in one round if memory serves.
I loved when people would KO that last pixel of health off someone with the Dudley taunt of throwing the rose, lol. 3rd strike is such a great fighting game. Those little touches of tying slight gameplay mechanics into the taunts was great instead of them only just being for show :)
Oooh ok guys thanks. I knew there had to be a reason. I'm really only familiar with the Chrono Trigger and DB stuff he did. But thanks for the new frontier. 💜💜💜
In the 90's I went to Japan to visit my sister who taught elementary school English. We went to the Headmaster's house for a welcome supper, and I spent the night with his son playing games on Saturn, my only experience with the console. There were a bunch of games I vaguely remember none of which seem like things I've seen since and possibly Japan-only. One was fairly anime-looking but I don't remember gameplay exactly, but the one game I remember best was this mecha-combat game like your #10, top-down view and a platform where you fought each other with mecha.
I think the Ninja Kid connection is incorrect... Super Ninja Kun is a sequel to a Jaleco Famicom game called Ninja Kun, whereas the NES Ninja Kid release is a totally different Bandai game based on a manga series called Gegege No Kitaro.
Some games taunts do actually does something. Street Fighter III a successful taunt increases your attack damage. You can see this on the Xbox arcade version where you can display the damage on the side of the screen.
StRoRo they actually all have character specific uses. Some raise attack on all but throws, some raise defense, some increase your stun damage, and some lower your stun gauge. Twelve's even turns him invisible.
So i guess in japanese the game title is a weird pun on “Battle” and then they added Ba at the end so in engrish it comes out to “Battleba”. I think Vulva sounds alot better.
Taunts can be used for a variety of reasons. Sometimes they'll have actually properties, like they can output slight damage or can change a character's properties (like Alex getting stronger in SF3). They can also be used for mind games as in you can literally just taunt an opponent which might make them mess up. At higher level play, taunts can have an adverse effect on the meta game of fighters.
Which Japan-only games should we check out next (that weren't in the previous 9 Left in Japan episodes)? Left in Japan playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLjOsBJoP38YjKbIkVqKAwV4A-FAJQPehG
I wanna say the original Romancing Saga series... I do realize that it was brought over on the PS2, mobile and virtual console (which I don't know if you count that) but the others were not. It's really a good under rated game and Live a Live. That too is a good game. I own those on the Super Famicom. And finally Seiken Densetsu 3
You both should try Treasure of the Rudras and Magical Land of Wozz both are RPGs for the SNES that where released in 1996 for Treasure of the Rudras by Square and 1995 for Magical Land of Wozz by Red Company and Bullet-Proof Software only for Japan they both have good graphics and music they can get long thought. If you play them be sure to get English Patches as both have lot of Japanese in them also a walkthrough is a must for both games because there are some game mechanics that need explaining also it will help as you can get lost and stuck in both games. Hope you enjoy them.
I had to skip to the end to make sure there really was going to be more Game Sack! I wouldn't know what to do every other Sunday night in the wee hours of the morning without Game Sack, keep Fuckin' it up, y'all.
Good ole classic Dave, always after Joe's collection. Best keep your games good & locked up, lest ole Dave come down the Chimney & steal YOUR games from you!
Ah, good ol Game Sack research. Ninja Kid was actually a Gegege no Kitaro game (Spooky anime from the 60s with yokai and stuff), localized into a ninja game, and it has nothing to do with the Jajamaru series. A game that WAS localized was a Game Boy game called Maru's Mission, and there were 2 unreleased localizations called Squashed and Taro's Quest.
Usually you taunt in fighting games after you pull off an impressive combo while your opponent is left temporarily stunned. But, as far as a practical use for taunting, I can remember playing Capcom vs. SNK 2; Haohmaru had a "rage gauge" that would increase when his opponent taunted him, when he got hit, etc.
I should have realized at least one of you is a Hi-Fi/Home Theater enthusiast, just by having an SDDS poster in the background. The rear speaker system in the skit scene looks like an overkill setup, which is the best kind of setup, of course. I miss the times when different theaters had different audio formats depending on the theater chain and auditorium. It was always a treat to find out what kind if system was installed before seeing a movie, at least for me it was. Before today's seemingly Dolby monopoly.
Absolutely love these episodes! I'm what one might call a "newbie" when it comes to collecting import games and these videos are a great source for seeing what's out there. Especially the games with lower language barriers. Here's hoping for more of the same!!!
Many games with good graphics today. Thanks for the episode, guys. Watching you play "Linkle liver story" without saves reminded me how we ourselves in our childhood in Kazakhstan played hacked sega genesis with all games without saves, even RPG's.
The N64 was a relative failure in Japan, similar to the Saturn outside of Japan. Turns out that they didn't really gel to the whole "LOL FUK 2D" thing imposed by the N64's hardware. I can imagine the SNES sticking around as a budget option while Nintendo worked on the GameCube.
What I would want is more game music episodes and that you guys put the names of the songs from older episodes not just what game they come from. Merry Christmas to you guys, you are the best 🎅👍
"Go Go Ackman" was created by Akira Toriyama, so the similarities in character design to Dragon Ball are going to be uncanny (same as with any Dragon Quest games) It looks and plays like a very fun and funny game! :)
The joke at the end.... NOT COOL! Youre my favorite youtube channel out of the 150+ im subscribed to! Own a t-shirt, pen and both blu-rays! Please continue!
In Street fighter 3rd strike the taunts (which are done by pressing HK and HP at the same time.) Usually give you a stat boost like more super meter or extra defense. An example is the character Q, where if you taunts you get defense
Apparently, Linkle Liver Story was meant to be sort of a spiritual sequel to "Crusader of Centy" on the Genesis (aka Soleil in Europe/ Ragnacenty in Japan).

I think it is funk it up yall.
@@Renwoxing13 It definitely is.

OtakuGamerRyutaro my thought exactly. The damage animation made me do the connection
true that's one of my favourite Famicom games and im pleasantly surprised to see it got a shiny 16-bit sequel :)
Yeah, the first game was Ninja Jajamaru-kun. Also please note the developer/publisher names.
Whoops, actualyl the first game was Ninja-kun Majo No Bouken. I think that's where Game Sack got confused since the protagonist for that game was also called Ninja Kid.
It's kinda rare to see GS gets facts totally wrong.
Every time a bell rings, Working Designs translates another game
And horribly rebalances it.
I have mixed feelings about WD. Linkle Liver Story looks like a really great Saturn game. Can't believe we didn't get this.
In art of fighting the taunt serves the purpose of reducing the special move bar of your oponnent and on street fighter 3 third strike doing your taunt move several times gave your character a special stat bonus
MultiTsunayoshi Sean's basketball is the best taunt ever
This Left in Japan series is probably the best theme y'all have ever addressed. Some really good games in these videos
Game Sack + coffee in the morning
Plus, reading this commentary.that's me right now.
Thank goodness Game Sack wasn't left in Japan!! They're my favorite!!
Taunts are the teabagging from the 90's
Not really. I mean, also yes, but for better players it's also a way to greet somebody.
Game Sack are my favourite YT gaming channel. Yay!
Puts a smile on my face to see old sealed games being opened and enjoyed like they should. Merry Christmas to the Sack team.
The makers of the Yakuza series are making a new Fist Of The North Star game, I hope it doesn't get "Left In Japan"
Wrecking Crew 98 looks kinda interesting. If Nintendo gave the franchise another shot on the Switch I'd give it a try.
It looks like a pile of shit. No wonder they never brought it out of Japan. It would have done damage to the Mario brand.
Thanks guys! Just what the doctor ordered for Christmas, not even kidding.
I'll be heartbroken when you guys finally pack it in, but 210 episodes is AMAZING! The legend of Game Sack continues to grow!
THEY WILL LIVE ON
Lets be honest they have no friends and no life, they will be doing this till the day they die.
Absolutely agreed! Love your show
Still going
That guy bringing the last piece of the pyramid is an injured blind man who gets crushed by it when he gets to the top. True fact.

Also his leg muscles are cut. Because you can lift things when those are gone.
Well that's just common knowledge. lol
Fuck it up yo! Fuck it up yo! Lol, that's what I think it's saying at least.! Lol
I hear "Fuck it up, y'all! Fuck it up, y'all!" That's what I hear.
I'm pretty sure it's saying "We are 100% certain this game will not be released in an English-speaking country."
I hear *"FUCK IT UP JOHN!/JON!"* And they pronounce the "J" like a "Y"
I'm hearing 'Fucky Ducky Yall'... well till i read these comments..
Irony is a weapon so it would be like, fuck it up, yawn! Like he's tired or something hahaha.
You guys have the best retro channel out there. I started binge watching your channel. Alot of good games that I totally forgot about. Thanks guys.
Now to be that guy! Ninja Kid is GeGeGe no Kitarou actually, not related to Ninja-kun at all
Since last year Gamesack my most awaited retro gaming review online
Gamesack one of the best video game channels out there. Cause of how much they appreciate the games and the quality content.
Another sweet and succulent Sack? My Sack is ready!
I'm very drunk and bored, and a new episode of game sack was what I needed ... tears of happiness...
Thank god, I thought you guys were going to ruin Christmas by ACTUALLY dissolving into oblivion. ;) Congratulations on 10 Left in Japan episodes, and 210 episodes overall. Taunting is a means of playing mind games with your opponent
The games of the Densha de Go! series stayed in Japan. Densha de Go! Ryojouhen is soooo relaxing and is my favorite.
Tossing the Saturn shoulder card (whatever it's called) made my lol
Game Sack: thanks so much for including Vatlva on the show. I hope you enjoyed it. It is good to see that game get attention.

The little demon kid reminds me of a tiny little Trunks. 💜💚💜
Because Akira Toriyama did the character designs for the game.
its by the same guy who made dragon ball
Toriyama also made the Go! Go! Ackman manga the game is based on
I thought the same thing "what's Trunks doing in a non-DBZ game!"
So distinctly Akira Toriyama.
Oooh ok guys thanks. I knew there had to be a reason. I'm really only familiar with the Chrono Trigger and DB stuff he did. But thanks for the new frontier. 💜💜💜
The English translation for linkel liver story is really fun, I haven’t got far yet but I really like the look of it
Merry Christmas to the GAMESACK family.

Good call, I was not 100% sure about that, so I did not comment on it, but I had a feeling they where wrong.
Oh ya, game sack is the only sack I want for Christmas.

Learn something every day.
Yup I was gonna mention this, thanks for being knowledgeable! xD
the taunts in third strike give your character different buffs, like next combo higher damage or a health buff.
Game Sack is my favorite video game channel, because it's for the creatures of the night ... Or people who live on the other side of the planet...
Every time you and Johnny Millenium talk about ending, I get a mini heart attack.
So i guess in japanese the game title is a weird pun on “Battle” and then they added Ba at the end so in engrish it comes out to “Battleba”. I think Vulva sounds alot better.
missingtear that Car Battler Joe
Tauntings to throw salt in the wound when playing with a friend.

Hokuto No Ken!!! Glad you recommended that awesome game. Def in my top five manga and anime series, and the PS2 game is awesome.
Please never stop doing these. These are the reason I subscribed.

Game Sack Germs: Nerawareta Machi on PS1
You both should try Treasure of the Rudras and Magical Land of Wozz both are RPGs for the SNES that where released in 1996 for Treasure of the Rudras by Square and 1995 for Magical Land of Wozz by Red Company and Bullet-Proof Software only for Japan they both have good graphics and music they can get long thought. If you play them be sure to get English Patches as both have lot of Japanese in them also a walkthrough is a must for both games because there are some game mechanics that need explaining also it will help as you can get lost and stuck in both games. Taunts are usually used to disrespect your opponent, but in some game it can give additional qualities like build meter for specials and so on.
I had to skip to the end to make sure there really was going to be more Game Sack! I wouldn't know what to do every other Sunday night in the wee hours of the morning without Game Sack, keep Fuckin' it up, y'all.
This is a great series hope you guys keep up with it!
The Rapper in the Vatlva song was actually saying , "Funk it up Ya'll, Funk it up Ya'll " throughout the song
Kenshiro? Pffffftt. Give me..... SEGATA SANSHIRO, SEGATA SANSHIRO, SEGA SATURN SHIRO!!!
YOU MUST PLAY SEGA SATURN
But I reminds me a......

Omae wa.....mou shindeiru.
Have a Merry Christmas GameSack!
it's good to see 'Hokuto no Ken' get some love. It's my favorite anime.
Using taunt while the opponent is down in 2D JP games, the effect is usually "Opponent will have lower SP gauge gain in a few secs"
Great video! Always a pleasure to watch a new episode of Game Sack
Good ole classic Dave, always after Joe's collection. Best keep your games good & locked up, lest ole Dave come down the Chimney & steal YOUR games from you!
In Art of Fighting, the taunt move raises your spirit meter while lowering your opponent’s meter
I know a few guys who have never experienced the Vulva
Merry Christmas you wonderful old GAME SACK!!!
Fun fact gogoackmen is drawn by Akira Toriyama the greater of Dragon ball and lead artest from Chrono trigger and the Dragon quest series
David Garcia This is the comment I was looking for lol
Hey guys, always enjoy watching these videos of yours. Happy Holidays.
FYI: Go Go Ackman is a manga by Akira Toriyama. Yes, the same guy who have some less known pieces like Dr. Slump and Dragonball /s.
I think it's ment to be "Buckle up y'all" Love the show guys.
I had Go Go Ackman 1-3 on the Super Famicom! The first one is definitely the best one. Good old Akira Toriyama.
I've been a fan of the Ackman games since the early emulation scene. Thanks for showing them off!
An early Christmas present! Thanks guys!
Man alive I hope Game Sack doesn't end.
Absolutely love these episodes! I'm what one might call a "newbie" when it comes to collecting import games and these videos are a great source for seeing what's out there. Especially the games with lower language barriers. Here's hoping for more of the same!!!
Can't wait for Left In Japan 20!
You guys should do an episode about games that were only released in Japan
Game sack always comin in clutch with an xmas eve episode no less. Happy holidays guys. Long live game sack
Love you guys , thanks for all the hard work you do!
good job guys its always good day when your videos show up!
Ackman my ass!!! He looks almost exactly like future trunks!!! Hahahaha!!! Down to the hair and the fact he has a sword on his back! Lol!
Jesus lol!! I just noticed that ackman has blue eyes just like trunks lol!
TheGodshatter That's because Akira Toriyama made the Go! Go! Ackman manga the game is based on.
blackphoenix77 I knew when Joe said manga creator that it was our homie Akira.
the manga is fun to read and translated-it's a bit short but still, oh yeah and a OVA of it.
That's exactly what I thought!
Many games with good graphics today. Thanks for the episode, guys. Watching you play "Linkle liver story" without saves reminded me how we ourselves in our childhood in Kazakhstan played hacked sega genesis with all games without saves, even RPG's.
Yes a new episode! Love all the videos you guys make! Wish there was new video every week :/
I so thought Joe was going to say, "I said I wanted to get through ten Left in Japans before we did Left in Japan Eleven."
Funk it up Joe, funk it up Joe! that's what I've heard.
Insane that a Mario game was still made for SNES 2 years after The N64 came out and the same year the Dreamcast was developed/released in Japan

What I would want is more game music episodes and that you guys put the names of the songs from older episodes not just what game they come from.
Merry Christmas to you guys, you are the best 🎅👍
Excellent episode went over plenty of my favorites from years ago.
"Go Go Ackman" was created by Akira Toriyama, so the similarities in character design to Dragon Ball are going to be uncanny (same as with any Dragon Quest games)
It looks and plays like a very fun and funny game! :)
Quality list as always. Some of these I definitely have to take a look at.
I require more Left in the Arcade episodes!!!
Big Daddy hellz yeah
The joke at the end.... NOT COOL! Youre my favorite youtube channel out of the 150+ im subscribed to! Own a t-shirt, pen and both blu-rays! Please continue!
Woohoo!! New Game sack episode!
Taunting does temporarily affect the attack power of your opponent in Eternal Champions
It's been almost a year how about another Left in Japan episode guys!!!
You guys had me going for a bit!
In Street fighter 3rd strike the taunts (which are done by pressing HK and HP at the same time.) Usually give you a stat boost like more super meter or extra defense. An example is the character Q, where if you taunts you get defense
Merry Christmas from Westminster. Super bone chilling cold today. Stay warm~!
Merry Sackmas!
I gotta get my hands on Vulva! 🤓
I wanna get my fingers on Vulva.
Apparently, Linkle Liver Story was meant to be sort of a spiritual sequel to "Crusader of Centy" on the Genesis (aka Soleil in Europe/ Ragnacenty in Japan).
Says who?
