I'm so petrified of having a heart attack or stroke. Everybody in my family died of a heart attack and/or stroke. I watched them turn into babies again. My grandfather wandered off into the woods alone and when we found him, he was naked, lost, confused and afraid. Very sad. Thanks, Sanjay for explaining.

Dear Dr. Gupta: Thank you for this great information. You mentioned in one of your "stroke" videos something about the potential for microstroke incidents which may not be readily diagnosed since they are so miniscule. I have been having stroke "incidents" for over a year that are barely noticeable (by me), and my cardiologist has not given too much importance to them. Then, in this video, I believe you asked for patients to write about these "micro" incidents happening to them. I would say I have what I would call a mini-stroke symptom every 6-8 weeks or so. Maybe there are more, but I don't perceive them. A couple months ago, my ear, nose and throat doctor ordered an MRI for me since he wanted to rule out a tumor on the ear drum that could have caused my hearing loss. I went for the MR - - these were the Impressions for my Noncontrast MRI brain: 1. Mild cerebral atrophy 2. Small chronic embolic infarcts involving the left frontal parietal lobes and cerebellar hemispheres. These infarcts have increased in number when compared to previous MRI report. Chronic small vessel ischemic change. No evidence of acute infarction. 3. No evidence for acoustic neuroma. I wonder if Item #2 above would be the micro-stroke incidents you speak of. I definitely feel much more wobbly on my feet, my feeling of being "me" seems to change from day to day, depending on how my brain is operating that day. I know something's off, but don't expect my cardiologist to spend a crazy amount of time to ascertain the reasons behind Item #2 above. I'm 76, have AFib, need a mitral valve clip (which your other videos on these topics have helped me understand.) Other than that, in good health. On no other drugs besides Eliquis and metoprolol. I saw my brain MRI after I had an ischemic stroke 3 years ago - I had taken Gadolinium for that one (but no more of that for me since it isn't excreted by the kidneys and remains in the brain and body forever). I saw about 7 or 8 tiny specks of "light" on my brain MRI at that time and was told these areas of my brain had died. My ealr-nose-throat doctor said Item #2 above indicates there are more tiny specs of "light" on my brain than the last MRI showed. My personal take on these "specks of light" -- Even though a brain cell or two may have died in that tiny speck, does this mean that once a brain cell dies, the light from the inside of the brain shines through? Are our brains composed of luminous light? I like that thought. It's probably way off base, but I like it. My best to you for all Goodness to be yours. Linda
I want to thank you for all of your videos. It's hard to tell whether we are living healthily or not. I was curious if you could do an entire video on all of the life-threatening symptoms to be careful for in general day life. Like symptoms of heart problems, symptoms of cancer, symptoms of stroke, symptoms of anxiety, etc, or any other serious life-threatening conditions. Like a "symptoms of life-threatening diseases" video. Would be a great video.
Thank you so much for this very interesting video. 12 months ago, my Mother's carer's found her unresponsive. The carers called 999 and then myself. When I got there, she was still unresponsive and I said to the carer's it looked like she'd had a stroke - they agreed. The paramedics came and comfirmed it was a stroke. We were devastated. In A&E, the doctors did many tests and after about 2 hours they said they didn't think it was a stroke at all. It turns out it was a massive seizure she'd had! I was amazed that a seizure could mimic a stroke - I'd never heard of the possibility. She still hasn't got much of her memory back, but is in a far better position than she could have been. x
@Loraine Cole As an epileptic myself and experiencing so many very strange happenings in seizures, it makes perfect sense that this is what your poor Mum went through. Keep working with her by using memory taxing word games and so forth. Maybe, she might be interested in learning another language ... with you even?! Anything she can do and enjoy will obviously be most beneficial, not just to her but to you all! I sincerely hope that, little by little, she will gradually get back to her former self. Take care ❤️
@Vasanthi So very many thanks Vasanthi, I much appreciate that knowledge as, after all, you're not advocating anyone use anything, but NOT to use 2 items. I've never tried Fennel, but do use the oil, but not anymore! I always listen to the advice of others re the epilepsy as mine are uncontrolled and I get no warning! Bless you for your help. Best wishes, Sue

@Vasanthi That would be an example of ignoring first principles. Let's say it was the "cause" of the stroke. Well what was the cause of the nervous weakness? Ok, let's say it was caused by diabetes, well the first principle cause of diabetes is vitamin c deficiency. We need to understand that cholesterol, vascular damage, blood pressure etc are ALL controlled by vitamin c. Humanity has been conditioned to ignore first principles. A somewhat clumsy way of looking at it, you get run over. Was the cause of death really the car or was it really the fact that we walked into the road without taking proper care? In this day & age that's a tough concept for most to deal with because we're all being fed the narrative that we are victims & our situation in life is the creation of outside agencies. This victimhood narrative is easily observable in medicine once we have a better understanding of first principles. Obviously we can do mechanical damage to the body that will cause sometimes catastrophic enough effects to ensure early death & that's a different subject, but when it comes to mass, systemic disease & inability to repair, the cause is fundamentally malnutrition. Even the idea of genetic deformity is for the most part a red herring. DNA is designed to repair itself, so if it's not, we ned to look at the cause of THAT. To put it simply, the inability to deal with normal oxidation is the secondary cause of disease & the primary cause of that is vitamin c deficiency. Bear in mind, for the most part, it's only domesticated creatures that die of disease instead of old age. There are some creatures who's DNA replicates perfectly & they therefore have a theoretical unlimited lifespan.
Let me give you a real world example of wrong-think that led to the death of my Mother by "stroke". She had a flu vaccine that led to encephalitis. Her, then undiagnosed heart disease, led to an ischiemic attack due to her weakened cardio vascular system being unable to push the blood through her brain, due to the pressure on her brain caused by swelling of her brain sheath. The first principle cause of ALL of that was vitamin c deficiency. Her cause of death was seen as stroke or cardio vascular disease, or by some more enlightened medics, the vaccine, but the cause of all THAT was completely ignored. A better clinician would have first performed a proper risk assessment regarding the vaccine, as they are supposedly legally required to do. They would then have discovered her heart disease, treated that with high dose vitamin c & only administered a vaccine known to cause encephalitis, if her cardio vascular system was deemed strong enough to mitigate the risks of the known side effects of the vaccine. It was clearly a case of death by doctor & interestingly, he took early retirement within days of her going into hospital for her 2 year journey of massive suffering before death.

I saw a story on local news some women had a stroke after getting their hair done at the salon it ended up being from laying their neck in the hair washing sink.
I can see where that could happen. Because it has that structure where you rest your neck in the narrow groove. Could cause the sealing off of blood vessels and create blood clots!!
Good information doc, it gave me a good perspective of what to expect from my doctor to find cause of stroke & prevent. However, is there anything medical science can do to repair damage or help heal the destruction of a stroke. I am a student of Chinese medicine and I use natural blood thinners, etc and various modalities that can help some of damage depending on severity massage, Qi Gong, acupuncture (pain) herbal formulas to feed the body back to good health.

Hi doctor. I've had allergic asthma most of my life and I frequently use a salbutamol inhaler when I need it. I've been told it can cause some side effects such as palpitations and increased BP, for the most part, the palpitations have definitely been present after use. However, I've also heard that salbutamol may have a lasting toxic effect on the heart after long periods of being used. Is this true? Thanks for your content, it is really helpful.

Hi doctor! My mom has been sweating a lot at night and even her feets feel burning even though its cold weather here in my country. My mother had her whole body checked at june. The reports were normal. Recently she had been diagnosed with vertigo and she has high bp. Can sweating be a sign of cancer or a stroke. My mom had fallen on her back 5 months ago. And she had to bed rest for 2 months. And then again she had vertigo. Now she is having a lot of night sweats and burning feet. Can you please give me some insights or suggestions as what to do?
I had a hemorrhagic stroke last year. My BP has normally been 240/120. I always have felt fine. No Dr has been able to figure out why its so high. I always exercise, eat healthy, non-smoker, thin, etc. Is there anything supplement-wise I can take to solve my hypertension? I'm on meds and would love to go off of them!
I had an ER trip a few months ago and had a lot of tests done on me. My BP was unusually high (150/90 HR of 140s). Bloodwork was done. A D-Dimer test was done and it was borderline elevated. A lot of scans and tests were done after that because the doctor said that it could possibly be a clot, but no clot was found. All the other tests came back normal. It was diagnosed as a panic attack. Now I do get pains on my legs at times (a sciatic issue). I've had an ultrasound done on my veins twice and it was normal as well. Is a panic attack a reason for a D-Dimer test to be positive? I've been so worried about possibly getting a clot that would lead to a stroke.
I also get panic attacks which led me into a cycle of health anxiety do not worry trust your doctors mind is powerful it can create any symptom you fear.
Jackie, my d-dimer was elevated when we first diagnosed my AFib. No one seemed concerned about it except me. Told a cardiologist, about six months after that, and he suggested re-running the d-dimer when I did blood work. I did. My d-dimer was still high. But so many doctors just say it's inconclusive and one of my doctors told me not to even test it anymore! It makes me very nervous. I'm borderline on whether I should be on blood thinners. (Taking aspirin) but it all makes me very nervous! I'm going to get a pulmonologist opinion as well, and seeing my cardiologist again.
Had a stroke in August at age 77 after years of good health and lots of exercise, so this video was very informative as doctors can't give a cause for the event. I did have slightly elevated blood pressure in the l25/130 over 70 region. Am now waiting to hear whether insurance will pay for a two week heart monitor. Thanks for all of your high quality videos.
What was your diet like? I thought strokes happen from consistently high blood pressure what you explained 125/130/70 is good blood pressure. You trying to scare me?
Make sure you are not taking a pharmaceutical that can cause a stroke. Over the counter or prescribed NSAID can cause stroke. I had one and not one doctor asked what I was taking that may have caused my stroke.. I had every test known to man and they could find no reason for my stoke. I was taking advil. Now I stay completely away ibuprofen.
Ok what are you saying? Bp of 125 is perfect and i have blood pressure...the doctor tells me 130 is okay for someone with high blood pressure....are you trying to scare me right now ? Thanks now im having anxiety 😓

Second amusing occurrence was when also in Oz but another City I was giving my medical history to a junior Doco! for a colonoscopy. As I was leaving he asked why I took an aspirin - when I explained he said that wasnt a cerebral spasm - that was a stroke! I was quite shocked but as I said I am still here. Your video makes me realise we must make the most of each day and enjoy life as much as we can... Thank you for all of your videos - you explain everything beautifully and I wish you and your family every happiness... Stay Safe
dear doc.thanks so much for your updated info.am having pains on my backhead and most of time having headache on the right side of my head but the doc keep telling me all is well.what else can i do cos am afraid of any impending stroke

I had a stroke 3 years ago from a dissection of the internal carotid artery. Do you think I should be on aspirin?
Great info Dr Gupta. Went thru an evaluation earlier this year for stroke. Turned out to be my fourth. Had PFO but septum was aneurysmic . Can elaborate on why septal tissue gets thinner over time.? Thanks

Hi Doc, I'm due for AZ vacc. Worried to take it with all that's going on with talk of side effects of clots. ANY ADVICE PLEASE
Thanks for a good video.
Why dont we look at the blood first rather than last?
Calcium channel blockers such as nifedipine can cause microbleeds in the brain. Do you happen to know whether there is an association of calcium channel blockers use and heamorrhagic strokes?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks doc, very informative as usual. My wife has had a few mini strokes what is the best way determine the cause?
I think mine was the result of blood vessel inflammation due to diet. My doctor thought it may have been caused by a collapsed capillary.
I have afib with chads2vasc score of 0. This video just scares the daylights out of me.
Gosh Doc. How depressing. 😢
Sanjay would understand your feelings and talk to you about it. He's very smart and caring.
Thanks Doc.
Strokes scare me more than any other health problem. I could deal with just about any bad news on health issues but not a stroke!!!😒
Me too..... and worse both my parents died from stroke and i have hypertension already at 23 ....this is really terrifying for me

My mom had a stroke too about 10 years before she died..but she had good therapists that helped her recover from the stroke. I really think that good exercise every day is important and keeping track of our blood sugars because diabetes is difficult on the blood vessels of the cardiovascular system. Just my opinion. Stay safe
I had a massive stroke last year...im up and going good now. It was from a bloodclot..now im nervous because my leg hurts and i keep thinking its a bloodclot
I had a blood clot the length ofmy leg 8 years ago. I'm now on a blood thinner for the rest of my life. I used to stress about having another DVT , going back and forth to my Dr..Get some therapy, so you wont be so anxious. It took me about a year before i stopped stressing. It would have taken less if I had a professional to talk to
I totally understand.
I wish you all the best.
Hey doc thank you for the information but I have a question if you take an aspirin a day small dose is it possible to still get a stroke?
Thx doc but I may have had an anxiety attack just thinking about it. What about prevention? If strokes are so common, we need to know how to avoid them.
herbs, periwinkle for one
you are great
God bless, Dr Gupta, thank you. I am on Eliquis after AF, had a clot after knee replacement. Luckily second op removed the clot.
I hope you have good insurance because Eliquis is very expensive, like $450 A month!
@@peggymicsky8607 here in Germany, €252, but because I am a British pensioner on S1 scheme(?after Brexit hopefully won't change) the account is paid by NHS England.
@@peggymicsky8607 ALL of the newer blood thinners are expensive.
I take xarelto and it's around $500 a month. My co-pay with insurance is $42.
You are very lucky! In US, if insurance pays 2/3, the insurance premium goes up $300 at month. I am taking Warfarin which is cheap bit is hard to regulate and has nasty side effects.
I'm on meds and would love to go off of them!
try herbs, periwinkle for one
That is extremely high blood pressure! Stay on your meds! Not surprised you had a stroke at all!!!#Yikes
Thank you dr. Gupta. Very informative and helpful.
Sir,Is LVEF 74% is good??? Is it dangerous?
I've had 2 echocardiograms already and they both came back normal too. My BP is usually on the normal range, but more on the lower end.
You're fine .. stop worrying
thanks
What are ways to prevent a stroke besides bp mgmt?
I have had 2 eye aura migrane attacks one i landed in Hospital but no sign of stroke motorick ok.
Can TIAs be related to thick blood
What about a cimt?
@@noreenmadziva4079 that's how I felt :)
This makes me feel sorry for you that you must think about all those things and still may not know what caused the stroke!!
Thank you for the information regarding strokes . I would like to discuss this with you in a more detailed conversation. Please let me know how this could be possible. Thanks in advanced m. T. Ct
