I love how, after killing Theodore Marshalland refusing to listen to him say Drakkenhiem is too far gone they are now theorizing that its possible Drakkenhiem is too far gone (by their own doing.)
That was the most effective dissuasion I've seen in a long time. There's no point in telling a kid not to do something, they'll just want to do it more. But traumatize them and you're probably gonna manage to scare them off it.
"Skelly McLaughlin" :D :D :D It is surprising how the Ratlings went from "aw, cute" to "total Skaven" in no time at all. And the unfolding cunning of the Queen of Thieves is wonderfully twisted. "The Separation of Church and State... and Spellbook."
The "after all the lies and deceit... not to mention Lies and Deceit" bit was perfect. Looks like even Monty appreciated it - well played. Another thing played very well is the very Halloween-appropriate ending and beginning of these two sessons. Monty must've been hugging himself for a least a minute with it all - how perfectly timed that ending was, and how perfectly done the resolution of it now (with three times the calcium, much appreciated)! Enough to scare the player(s) - after all, the entire theme of the last few sessions has been "consequences of past mistakes, oversights and tomfoolery catching up to you", so messing around with artifacts in a treasury of a dangerous faction leader, with the kind of artifacts that are liable to be deadly themselves... after all, it could have reasonably been the big magical throne of the city they were talking about as a scary powerful thing. It wasn't, but it could have been - a great scare. It even gets the viewer to some extent - seeing the crew down one man even at the table, and Kelly only coming in a little while later with the "separate dimension" thing. Also really, really loved the further handling of the Queen/Cat/Kat. Last time, she showed her "b!tch mode", the more punchable side of her - this time, she showed she isn't just a hardcoded hostile NPC but is actually a worthy character who knows when she's lost, and an ambitious mover and shaker with how she essentially seems to have soft-enlisted the party as her cats-paws (double the pun there, with Veo and Cat/Kat involved) by giving them things they can't refuse - there's just no way they'd refuse the plot trinkets and it's a sensible way to keep all the players in the game. Instead of doubling down with a losing hand and being struck out, Cat/Kat remains a factor (and I was pleasantly semi-surprised by there not being fakes among the trinkets, as I did notice the team forgot to check for fakes after Sebastian reappeared, and instead seeing her having kept one way-opening artifact that isn't one of the trinkets for herself). More than double the points for her actually presenting valid arguments and logical reasoning for her position this time around, too - not just a bitchy "I wanna rule", but now taking some time to explain herself. The later council-room and world politics talk only helped this - absolutely adored hearing more notably realistic fleshing-out for the way the "ruling edicts" are not really all that observed anymore either and the "humanizing" side of the otherwise previously one-note zealous crazy cult through giving them a legitimate point among their known weird ones; after all, cults need to make salient points in order to win over hearts and minds, not just promise power and heroes. Well done, Monty, on keeping the gradual fleshing-out of the campaign setting just enough to explain things and not be exposition for exposition's sake, while adding on much-needed doses or realistic-feeling world events and mechanics of how it works, rules observed mostly in the breach, and important NPCs acting like intelligent beings and not just cliches and one-note good/bad guys. It's quite remarkable that, even this far into the game, all the major factions remain relevant one way or another (even the ratlings, having unexpectedly become a major power player), and it's still not out of the question to deal even with the "enemy" factions depending on player choice. P.S. Duckley should be a thing too. Or Untitled Goose Familiar, perhaps.
I really wish Kat had played more on the emotions she must have bottled up all these years. Like, when Sebastian accuses her of all the “terrible” things she does (deception; that the party often does too), I was really hoping she’d lash out at him, “And what do you think I went through all these years?! How do you think I felt when YOU took my sister away from me?! You say you’ve tried to do good, yet you stumble around causing problems left and right! Look to the surface! More people are dying today to those rats than I’ve killed in fifteen years! Do you have any idea what I’ve had to sacrifice to get where I am, what I’ve worked for a decade to accomplish, only for you to... once again, ruin by causing an ‘accident’?!” More righteous guilt-tripping or things like that, more passion! (“When you and your friends tried to kill me earlier, did you intend for your dog to drag me to hell too, just like you did with Mouse?”) But instead she just takes the accusations calmly and in doing so effectively agrees with what Sebastian is saying about her. Hnnng. She’s still my favourite NPC in this series, but the missed opportunities for emotional impact! (I guess her innocently expressed desire for the throne, for herself, didn’t help; shouldn’t she be lying about that, if only so she can backstab later?) Meow :((((

I just love how Monty is rubbing leaving the rat prince alive into the faces of his players. While seemingly everyone here was just in love with the rat prince, I hated every moment, they said „kill all the bad gnolls, but dont touch the poor rats, they just kill poeple to survive“ or „we just killed a few poeple by sending them directly to the rats in the clock tower, but we are the good poeple and the thieves robbing some poeple are bad and deserve to die“ Just to make it clear. This is one of the reasons I love warching this canpaign, because I can get these „see, I told you“ moments.
The problem was not leaving the rats alive. Their mistake was sending the rats to the demon-god. Without that they would never be as powerful as they are now. I agree that he's great at making them pay for their mistakes. but that has nothing to do with your dislike of Petunia.
@@RicardoMoralesMassin Leaving Skavens (the source of inspiration of ratlings) alive is always a problem. If you did play to Warhammer Fantasy, you would know this universal truth! :D Try Total War: Warhammer 2 and you shall see!
At the time of watching it, my wife and I were saying how bad it was. It was very predictable. They should have come clean to rat prince during the dress scene and made him an actual friend instead of a pawn.
I love the object lesson in the unintended consequences of messing with an ecological system that the darlings represent. Eliminating the gnolls took out a major predator and allowed them to grow unchecked. Brilliant!
Thanks for the great episode! I'm not really expecting anyone to answer at this stage, but anyway :) (spoilers) Logically, I don't see why the Silver Order and Liquoricia Matthias remained the only options for finding a flamekeeper? First, obvoiusly the Caspian royal expeditionary force had at least one trustable cleric. Second, a cleric could be found at some Westemar noble court, e.g. through Eric. This sounds WAY better than accepting any of Liquoricia's political demands!
I think Sebastian’s theory the 9 Gates of Hell is on to something, Kat is trying to open hell so Mouse can come back. Maybe she made deal with the demon to able to actually do that, she gets mouse back, and he can come out of Hell to rule the world?
Any other option? Sebastian, you guys could literally mold earth holes into the ratling tunnels, pour oil, other flammable liquids, light it on fire. Eliminating the majority of the Ratlings and then fight off the rest.
Hey there! Just wondering if you guys have considered making video-summaries of your sessions? It would be really cool to hear your takes on the story as well as some feedback on the session. Keep up the good work!
Could you imagine if they tried to destroy the executioner with big Linda, but the wraiths killed it. We saw the executioner bring back the lord of the feast and its mount. Would it also bring back a wraith version of big Linda? 🤔😱🤨
Monty your a genius. Flipping the script to make use cheer on villians. The hero's are so hypocritical; liers, murderers, and thieves. Their motivation has been for individual gain and individual power based on the guise of 'it's for the good of the city of Drakkenheim'. Why would the Queen ever agree to kill her daughter? Why would the Queen ever approve of Veo killing her daughter? Why would the Queen ever want Pluto over her Daughter as the next heir? If the hood never found out about Claire's background they would 100% back her? The Queen 100% would keep Clairs background hush hush. So why is Veo, and Pluto against this? Answer: personal power. Our horrible 3 killed honorable Paladin's (which turned out to be right). Made deals with devils. Created hybrid rat horrors and believed them to be better than other factions. Aligned themselves with a mage faction that doesnt trust anyone other then themselves. Monty you created villians that are some how heroes.
I have a theory. Potential spoilers if I am right and it means nothing otherwise. I think Mouse is the real Queen of Thieves. She is a very strong warlock who made a deal in hell. She is using Kat as a puppet.
It was probably when the Queen I’d Theives said to the party (the first time they met) that she was a real Queen and how much antipathy she had for Queen Lenore. That is when I suspected Kat or Mouse.
@@davidkessler6805 I can buy it. After presumably hanging around with Orcus in the Abyss/Hell for 15+ years, you'd have to be the incarnation of good itself to not become villainous eventually. It'd also shatter Sebastian, since it means his actions have caused both of his former besties to be used as tools of evil, which just adds to his ever-increasing list of consequences for past actions.
Just ordered my own custom character from hero forge!!! Ariesius the elven cleric fighter I can't wait till I can find a dnd group to play with!!!! Oh man I could attune to the badge they need to attuned
I'm starting to realize exactly how much of a sucker I am for Redemption and Romance arcs/stories... lets hope my Gm(s) never get to know, or they can lead me around by my nose for weeks.
Way back when Sebastian first talked about Cat & Mouse, it was pretty obvious that Cat was the Queen of Thieves. (Could also have been Mouse, but less likely). She's only one who could have had both knowledge of high level state secrets and also an academy trained magic user. Those two data points make a line. My question would be why didn't they side with Cat considering Lenore is kookey-dukes? Like, at this point I don't even know if Lenore is in charge of Lenore anymore, much less a whole broken city? Lenore needs retirement. I also kept waiting for them to try and work out if Cat was working for Goat Head Demon because he had Mouse as leverage over her or if it's of her own volition.
Skelly McLaughlin. lol. Nice outfit Kelly. Monty seems to be enjoying this. "This please doesn't make sense" ... MAGIC... it's all magic. Secrets? lol I wonder what would have happened if Veo or Pluto sat on the throne. I have a feeling the ratlings would take down Big Linda quickly... just be sheer numbers. I think Kat plans to be the monarch, I don't think she'd let anyone take that. I think they have a major rat problem... Left off at about 1:25, a friend wanted to watch a movie online...I'm not feeling well so I'll finish it tomorrow.
Watching the rest... still not feeling the greatest. Just upset stomach and lightheaded-ness (possibly from congestion)... nothing serious. Maybe Kat is the Queen... maybe River/Monty is just trying to sow doubt... maybe Mouse is the real queen and using Kat. Maybe there was an original Queen, before the fall and Kat took her place or is her subordinate. "how they found that statue" "we'll never know" ROFL... It's not like anyone sent them to Oscar's house or anything... oops. A Seeming bunch of Georges? But can't the Queen read minds and use Dispel? Yay for leveling up! O.O I hope the puppy & George don't die. Yay for the wound closure item. I hope it helps. {wonders how many notes Monty takes during a session}
"... Could this all be a plan of Orcus' ? I sDrakkenheim ground zero for a portal to open and release the Nine Hells on us?" I hate to be that nitpicky guy... But, the D&D cosmology makes a distinction between devils and demons, devils being from the Nine Hells. Horrific plot twist, though! Loving it.
Minor spoilers: Can’t the badge of the flame keeper be used by a Druid? They can technically use necklace of prayer beads, and it is a very interesting and weird idea to have a Druid on a council of a city... And now that Sebastian can use 6th level spells, doesn’t he get another ring?
I'm still curious how strong Elias Draxel is, judging by how he near shrugged off the Lord of the Feast's mace... so it was a bit disappointing the team didn't want to bring him with!

"We can't ally with the Silver Order, they think the city is beyond saving!"...one week later..."The Ratlings have overtaken everything, maybe the city is beyond saving!" Maybe siding with the money hungry academy who only want power over the noble Paladins who wanted to kill all the monsters was a bad move :P I love that the second half of this campaign is basically, you reap what you sow, made manifest.
Bit late to the party, but this is flawed logic. Party didn't know the rats would become the issue they did and the paladins might not even have known they existed when they first said burn it all down. Nothing contradictory about drakkenforces positions, their opinions changed with new information.
No, don't trust Lucretia Mathias!!! She's just as likely to be controlled by Orcus than the ratlings... Also, Detect Magic on George... You know, if I had to impersonate someone to sit on the throne... just saying. Amazing episode once again.
Assuming the seals are real and the queen hasn't made any unforeseen trickeries, I find it hard to believe she would've given up all her cards like that without the rattling problem, so Sebastian's incident actually was a pretty big asset, even if it did cause negative side effects
I like how Sebastian went full Billy Madison at the end there. "I can't wait to go to high school!" "Don't you say that, don't you ever say that! STAY HERE AS LONG AS YOU CAN!"

Party: "Sebastian you need to tell the truth."
Sebastian: "Fine, the Queen of Thieves wasn't behind the Ratlings."
Party: "Wait, stop."
When only one player remains, that almost always makes for an intense scene :D But loyalty and friendship are strong. Good episode :)
it reminds me that Sebastian was crazy for 3 days, maybe this is an aftermath?
"The cavern opens into this small cavernous cave".
My goodness Sebastian when George wanted magic. **illusions world of fire and holes where hearts should be.**
I want Kelly's rant at the end on a hoodie. DON'T LEARN A SPELL!
"I'm melting"
-Sebastian
What a world. What a world!
I love the object lesson in the unintended consequences of messing with an ecological system that the darlings represent. Eliminating the gnolls took out a major predator and allowed them to grow unchecked. Brilliant!
One of the best episode conclusions in the series! The 3 Crows were comedy gold when meeting George 😂😂😂. ❤
Thanks for the great episode! I'm not really expecting anyone to answer at this stage, but anyway :)
(spoilers)
Logically, I don't see why the Silver Order and Liquoricia Matthias remained the only options for finding a flamekeeper? First, obvoiusly the Caspian royal expeditionary force had at least one trustable cleric. Second, a cleric could be found at some Westemar noble court, e.g. through Eric. This sounds WAY better than accepting any of Liquoricia's political demands!
They needed to move quickly. They didn't have time
I think Sebastian’s theory the 9 Gates of Hell is on to something, Kat is trying to open hell so Mouse can come back.
Once again Sebastian bones it! Come on Sebastian you were my man for the first 40 episodes.
I have a theory. Potential spoilers if I am right and it means nothing otherwise.
I think Mouse is the real Queen of Thieves. She is a very strong warlock who made a deal in hell. She is using Kat as a puppet.
David Kessler I’ve suspected the QoT is Mouse for a long time. I can’t recall when, but it was a long time ago.
The beginning! What a twist!
After over 45 episodes I just can't stand Sebastian's mopey self doubt anymore. I hope he cowboys up by the end of this.
My one thought. Do they want a new Lord of The Feast? This is how you get a new Lord of the Feast.
Spooky scary sebastian
Shouldnt sit down on that throne
Spooky scary sebastian
Now hes been seared to the bone
I really love you guys... The beggining of this episode was hilarious!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂
Just ordered my own custom character from hero forge!!! Ariesius the elven cleric fighter I can't wait till I can find a dnd group to play with!!!!
Oh man I could attune to the badge they need to attuned
I just realized something. If QoT Kat is Queen Lenora’s daughter, doesn’t that make her Prince George’s aunt and also her Pluto’s sister-in-law?
I'm starting to realize exactly how much of a sucker I am for Redemption and Romance arcs/stories... lets hope my Gm(s) never get to know, or they can lead me around by my nose for weeks.
Kelly, after the stream ends: Do I need to make a new character or what??
Monty: We'll talk later
Kelly: NOOOOOOOOOOOO
2:15:46 they need a Guild Master. Sebastian’s father is a Master Smith.
Watching the rest... still not feeling the greatest. Just upset stomach and lightheaded-ness (possibly from congestion)... nothing serious.
Maybe Kat is the Queen... maybe River/Monty is just trying to sow doubt... maybe Mouse is the real queen and using Kat. Maybe there was an original Queen, before the fall and Kat took her place or is her subordinate.
"how they found that statue" "we'll never know" ROFL... It's not like anyone sent them to Oscar's house or anything... oops.
A Seeming bunch of Georges? But can't the Queen read minds and use Dispel?
Yay for leveling up!
O.O I hope the puppy & George don't die. Yay for the wound closure item. I hope it helps.
{wonders how many notes Monty takes during a session}
"... Could this all be a plan of Orcus' ? I sDrakkenheim ground zero for a portal to open and release the Nine Hells on us?"
I hate to be that nitpicky guy... But, the D&D cosmology makes a distinction between devils and demons, devils being from the Nine Hells.
Horrific plot twist, though! Loving it.
I get the impression that they've merged the Abyss and the Nine Hells into one super-evil plane of evil.
Or Sebastian just doesn't know the difference.
I think in the universe that Monty created they are synonymous
Sebastian should have read the Standing Room Only sign!
The start of this episode is really really stressful
i couldnt catch this live... sebastian couldn't either though HE IS THE SPOOKIEST SCARIEST SKELETON
i just realized a question thing
What if queen lenore was given aqua expurgo
PROBABLY DEATH, but meh i want to know
Minor spoilers:
Can’t the badge of the flame keeper be used by a Druid?
They can technically use necklace of prayer beads, and it is a very interesting and weird idea to have a Druid on a council of a city...
And now that Sebastian can use 6th level spells, doesn’t he get another ring?
Or...the Ratling priestess could use it.
Aaron Stoner ratenhiem
Pluto is about 300lbs.
Hey!
That was great.
I'm still curious how strong Elias Draxel is, judging by how he near shrugged off the Lord of the Feast's mace... so it was a bit disappointing the team didn't want to bring him with!
Usually, when I miss the stream, I wait for this upload. This time, i had to go to Twitch and watch for the beginning.
TGIF
Are there bonus features or something on Twitch?
@@Sophia-vk5bq Just subscribe, free of costs, and you can watch the episode in the channel's library, once it's over. So, if you miss the stream and don't want to wait, you can immediately watch on twitch. If you do watch it over there, remember to leave a view and like here on RUclips. It helps them out a lot.
"you swear you hear one of the rats saying "yes yes yes""
Upon watching it here, I. Am thinking lacresa could actually work for orca. If the delirium is part of orca's plan and she worships it. Wouldn't that mean she could be the high priestess of orca? (Sorry for the name errors)
Orcas btw not Orca
@@tennesseeponderer3146 Orcus, not Orcas
DarkLight Mike fair enough
lol sry, had to call u out on your callout ;P
I don’t mind so long as the callout is correct
George: "Can you teach me a spell?"
Sebastian: [Backstory flashbacks] "Why are we here just to suffer?"
The first few minutes:
"He's just a little disintegrated - it's still good! It's still good!"
I think the conversation between George and Sabastian is where the flash back movie starts and see all the stuff Sebastian went through.
At 2:48:04 um so, were the Paladins right the entire dealing time?!?
what would have happened if they had worked with the queen of theives to use big linda against the executioner and the lord of the feast?
these rats are giving me major skaven vibes
Sorcerer pouring his heart out "I didn´t had 10 minutes to cast detect magic from my moms book... I blow things up..." 🤣🤣🤣
New team name: Drakkenfarts
No, don't trust Lucretia Mathias!!! She's just as likely to be controlled by Orcus than the ratlings...
Also, Detect Magic on George... You know, if I had to impersonate someone to sit on the throne... just saying.
Amazing episode once again.
I LOVED SEBASTIAN'S MELTDOWN!!! LOL!
Sebastians mom is a Lich, pulling strings for a decade and a half to rule Drakkenheim! Playing the long game as a Lich is apt to do.
That's why when Sebastian asked her if she still needed the clone. She said I dont longer need that body...she already made the perfect body lol
Wait, seriously she is???
"Sorcceror, Warlock, or Wizard?"
No Druid?
Assuming the seals are real and the queen hasn't made any unforeseen trickeries, I find it hard to believe she would've given up all her cards like that without the rattling problem, so Sebastian's incident actually was a pretty big asset, even if it did cause negative side effects
When Monty said they needed a monarch, I’m half surprised they didn’t suggest the Rat PRINCE 😅 It sounds like something Pluto would suggest 😂
I like how Sebastian went full Billy Madison at the end there.
"I can't wait to go to high school!"
"Don't you say that, don't you ever say that! STAY HERE AS LONG AS YOU CAN!"
Sebastian -“I’ve had every opportunity to take water breathing as a ritual”
Monty (thinking to himself) “I’ve been waiting for someone to jump into contaminated water”
The last 2 minutes of this are the best XD
Sebastian’s father = Guildmaster, at least if and when things get back to normal. It seemed like the obvious choice.
This was the only good idea Veo has had in 46 episodes. It's a natural fit, even if Mr. Crowe later steps aside for another to assume the role.
I loved Jill's costume, but I really missed her facial expressions in the last episode
Ignatius: you cannot bear lies or deception when you bear me!
Pluto: imma pretend I didn't see that
