Well done Ellie - wonderful achievement and great to hear the stories of kindness from strangers giving you helpful encouragement and support along the way! How far you’ve come in your running story - the voice notes together with the heartfelt images of pain and joy were a treat to watch. 👏🤗
Oh thank you!! Yes one of the most amazing parts of it was how amazing everyone was - literally everyone I talked to was lovely, and everyone who was there was there to support everyone. I had such a great time ☺️
Great stuff and well done. I probably watched all your videos during the lock down. I did the big one myself for the second year running and it is epic.....people are always kind, smiling and the volunteers and crews are special people. Trail running and being outside for me is just something i need to do. And yes I also cried coming in along the park and final road......
I’ll work my way up to the big one one day!! And yes, being outside is just something I need too. It’s amazing how much it effects me. So happy to have found such a nice community ☺️
Thank you Derek! I wasn’t planning on making a video, which I think helped anything I captured to be truly how I was feeling. It was an intense day! ☺️
Runner 511, what an amazing achievement👍👍👍 Being able to smile whilst enduring the pain and getting to the finish line, a true competitor👍 Well done Ellie😊
Loved watching this Ellie, whilst having my own flashbacks. Particularly that spot near Muckross House where I was nearly in tears with frustration too. Incredible that you totally nailed it after only doing one marathon. I know how this goes now. It's four weeks ago, the memory of the pain has subsided, and you're sitting there thinking about signing up to your next big race 😱😀
Ahaha! You’ve pinned me exactly! I think there are a couple of trail runs I want to do next year, but I’m also considering entering a “real” road marathon, and not just to run one around my local lake. The possibilities are endless! 🙈😂
@@ToughSoles Should be tons and tons of options in Ireland and beyond next year on the roads. I'm a big fan of the MCI, EOI and other small marathons. Low-key local races all over the country. Lovely bunch of people. Everyone from speedsters to walkers who just love getting out there and racking up the miles.
Marvellous achievement at this early stage of your running career.Well done. What a great video. I think I will stick to the mountains, that looks like serious pain!
Well done and thanks for sharing the honest feeling of what you were going through! Your inspirational. You just proved what dosent brake you makes you.
Congratulations! That is amazing! I will hopefully be heading over to Ireland in March to hike the Irish Trail (so will be hiking, NOT running! The same trail. Haha) Then inspired by you guys will be trying to hit as many National trails as I can til my visa expires. Again, amazing work!
Soooo nice! And congrats to such an amazing achievement! 🥳🤩 If I wasn’t in my bike clothes, I’d jump in my running shoes right this second cause the motivation I get from this vid is very high 😄
Well done Ellie I met you at the start I was on registration and the strange person who said hello at the start 😉 I was also at the first stop at templenoe. You did amazing and it was such a hard day very warm caught many a runner out even the most experienced. You should check out tailwind I find it great for long distances coves your energy needs and electrolytes. I was meant to run this year but couldn't so we helped out instead but I used your maps of the Kerry way and do did my friends. Are you going to go back next year I will be 🙂 running it next time
Hey! Ah it was so cool to meet you! It made me smile so much setting off, thank you ♥️ And yes I learnt about Tailwind through the event, ordering some soon as I definitely found liquids easier to get down than solid food. I will most certainly be back next year, so I’ll see you again 😃 great to hear that you used our maps, they’ve been a real passion project so always so cool to know that they’re used! Thanks so much again! Ellie
Brilliant ill see you there so and share some miles 🙂 I get mine off amazon or the EDGE sports shop in Cork has it you can buy online. I think some of the running stores in Dublin have it as well
That run and video were fascinating, Ellie. Congratulations on the achievement. One question though - why the Kerry Way as a first ultra? Surely there are many easier ones to do first?
I think for me, this might have been one of the easier Ultras to do. I don’t think I could have done an ultra on road, both the impact of the hard surface for that long, and also the mental game. I love trails. The Kerry Way has been a favourite trail of mine for ages, and I’ve done this route before (if admittedly a lot slower!). I really did have an amazing time - I think most of those tears were overwhelmed happiness rather than pain!
Any plans, Ellie, for doing it again? Was it an item on your bucket list, or are you doing more trail marathons and ultras now? I’ve had my eye on this race (the Lite version) for some years, and signed up today for the 2022 race. I’d be delighted if I bumped into yourself and Carl there this year.
Hey Nigel - yes I will be back there this year!! I really really loved my experience in 2021, and for now I definitely see trail ultras stretching into my future. I actually was just looking at some of my goals for 2021, and back in January I wrote that I hoped to maybe be able to do a half marathon … so I can safely say I achieved that one! Hope to see you down there too! ☺️
@@ToughSoles That’s great news in so many ways, Ellie. I’ve been hoping to meet you and Carl for a long time now. I’d be delighted if it worked out this year.

Congratulations! That's such a fantastic achievement. Especially considering you've only been running what like 2 years? Wow. Seriously. Wow.

That's a nice, refreshingly innovative take on how to put together a race day video.
Thank you! 😃
Very cool. Congrats. Thank you very much for the video. 👍
Amazing. Well done to you Ellie and such an authentic video!!

@@ToughSoles It looked wild! BTW I went for my first run in 18 months last night - 3.2km and I was dead haha Thanks for the Inspo :)

I didn’t plan on making people cry from this video, but I can confirm you’re not the only one! ♥️🥺
