I like the timing. Something to look forward to during a sometimes dreary time of year.
I agree and it's nice to have it separate after we've gotten all the best book of the year lists from other places
Wow, I love how super thorough you were about your analysis of this. The biggest stumbling block is BOTM hasn't made it clear about which books they're considering as eligible, so that's a huge problem as far as trying to make predictions. You did a fantastic job, though! I will be so excited to see!
Thank you and yes I agree they didn't tell us the eligibility window they just did their own thing! Next year should hopefully be clearer for a Jan 2024 - Dec 2024 eligibility window
I can’t wait for this!
Yes so fun!
Very good and thoughtful analysis. I just recently listened to Weyward and enjoyed it. Gave it a 4 star rating.
Thank you and good to know about Weyward!
another great video!
Thank you! 😊
THE SPREADSHEET
I think I’ve seen this film before and I didn’t like the ending 😂
the spreadsheet was the real star of the video
I was engrossed in your data and presentation! I’m a fellow analytical thinker, so this video was fun to watch.
I’m wondering how much they’re relying on GoodReads ratings vs. the data they’re collecting from their subscribers. (Sales volumes, ratings and surveys on their platform, etc.) GR is public-facing in a sense and really all we have to go by. It’s probably fair to assume their stats are similar.
All that being said, I think this is a solid prediction. That final swap gave me some anxiety…not gonna lie! 😂 Can’t wait to see how it turns out.
Thank you I'm glad you had fun with it - it was fun to make too. Great point about what data BOTM is using for sales and feedback on the app. I want to try to use that BOTM specific info more in my future predictions! As much as I can with what they share at least. And yes the final swap felt necessary at the time to include books that were a bit more popular but it didn't end up paying off haha
