Very good Mike Winger! We are doing the Bible Recap and reading in the first books of the Old Testament, where Moses and the manna were. I had not connected the feeding of the 5,000 with Moses being a prophet and Jesus showing He was THE prophet. So cool how God wraps everything up - even to where there were 12 baskets left for 12 hungry disciples. Everything about the timing and the Passover went over my head too! Thank you for the historical context and background that makes this passage so much more deep and clear!
Beautiful sermon Mike. The story with your pastor stating the difference between the Muslim is him being willing to die for his beliefs while the other kills for his really spoke to me. Thank you my friend!
I really love the argument you make that the Apostles weren't Apostles until they went out and began preaching and teaching the Gospel to the people. This is so crucial to understand! We can have Faith to follow Jesus Christ and that is important, but we don't truly become His disciples until we get to work and do the things He did, teaching the things He taught. That's when our Faith is completed through our works. Not that our works have any power to save us, but that they are the proof that the Word of God has wrought a change in our hearts and made us new men. Thank you Pastor Mike! God Bless!
The end of this when your talking about them not getting it that they're trying to use Christ to accomplish their means reminds me a lot of what is going on today in the political culture a week before the 2024 election. I see His name thrown around because they are claiming the name of Jesus for their own personal cause. These words are timeless. Good word Mike Winger!
Can you see Jesus' control over the appearance of the gospels? Through His actions in flesh, He could affect the writing of the Word. He is truly the Word in flesh! Look how beautifully the movement and actions of Jesus can display meaning in words. Hallelujah, He is the Word of God! So how seriously important it is for us to learn the meaning of His spoken Word.
Love the reminder that Jesus is the bread of life 💕 God is so good! Also appreciate the part where you mentioned how the men would bring their wives and families as well. It’s hard to understand sometimes where the women were in the Bible and what they were doing, what they were and weren’t allowed to do in that time and culture, as well as in the early Church.
Exo 16:4 Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.
Love your teaching Mike, but I differ when it comes to the tradition of "blessing the food'. In Mark 6:41 it says that Jesus "blessed and broke the loaves", but doesn't say what or whom he blessed. In Matthew 26:26, during the Last Super, it says Jesus "took bread and blessed and broke it" then it says of the wine, "He took the cup and gave thanks". Some translations will add "it" italicized to indicate what he is blessing the bread, but that is editorializing. The custom Israelite prayer recited prior to eating, as you mentioned, was "Blessed are you O Lord our God, King of the Universe, who brings forth bread from the earth". In this prayer, the thing being blessed isn't the bread, but the person of God. God is being praised for the provision. Because the translators assumed the bread was being blessed and adding the "it" to the scripture, the tradition of blessing the food has developed. In light of all this, I've chosen to stop the habit of blessing the food. When I "say the blessing", I give thanks to God and praise (bless) Him for His provision.
@@winniecash1654 As we see in this verse, to bless the Lord is synonymous with to praise the Lord. “Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!” Psalm 103 (New King James) In the NIV, they’ve changed the word bless for praise. “Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.”
@@robertdelisle7309 right, and the different meanings obfuscate who does the blessing. I'll need to do a study to clear it up in my mind. Thanks for responding.

The term "apostle" is about to ones that used to be sent to spread The Good News, to behave like Jesus and so on. That's NOT a "military patent", nor a "professional activity", nor a "hierarchical position within the church"... ...and that makes A LOT of difference. In fact, that makes ALL the difference...

This teaching struck home on acouple points but noticed you had a befudlled thought when you spoke about them all sitting in groups of 100's and 50's, now i dont know what train of thought you were trying to put out, when thinking about the significance of 100's and 50's it reminds me of a scripture where someone was putting a certain person or ppl in charge over the 100's and 50's, and 10's... maybe even reference to 1000's? Wish i could recall where i was reading but regardless, ill probably have to chew on this message awhile, there was no shortage or savory bits, just gotta make sure i get an understanding of what im taking in here lol.. A God lead message for sure!! Thank you!!
If you are constantly feeding others, you will exhaust yourself. Pastors can burn themselves out because they never take the opportunity to be fed themselves. I think this is another principle Jesus was trying to demonstrate.
Elijah -> Elisha is a type of John the Baptist -> Jesus. Good job pointing that out. I had only heard it from one other person in many, many teachings on these passages.
EliYah & EliSha (El-i = God-My aka My God) El-i-YahuSha A First and Last teaching. Yahusha Jesus, He's Both. Rejected and Praised Parallels all over, interesting one is Paul of Tarsus... is said to be bald. John hairy, EliYah hairy, EliSha bald - Paul.
Same could be said about the widow's mite. If it's about sacrificial giving, that would be a secondary lesson. It was a continuation of Jesus' rebuke on the Pharisees fro putting her in that circumstance.
In looking deeply in this scripture, I have come to accept the loaves of bread represents the Word of God, or more specifically the laws given by God. Since the laws from the Old Testament was presented by Moses in the flesh, meaning that they were etched in stone physically, it makes sense that Jesus compared the manna brought down from heaven with the living bread, which is the bread of life, which is the Spirit of Jesus. This accounts for why Jesus warned against the leaven from the Scribes and Pharisees and the Sadducees because yeast creates holes in the dough much the way those hypocrites created loopholes about the laws presented by Moses. I am a bit confounded, though, by the two small fishes, to which I think signifies Jesus’ disciples who were sent two by two to evangelize in order to bring those people for the gathering that took place, with bread and fish acting as the nourishment for those who were hungry for learning more. This is why I think the twelve baskets were full. I am also not sure why the number 5,000 men plus women and children were used. It just seems to be a very important number for some reason, but if someone can provide a real true answer that is pliable, then I will greatly appreciate it.
I just wanted to ask about when you mention at the beginning that it is the only miracle done by Jesus mentioned in the gospels apart from the resurrection. Luke talks about the raising of Jarious daughter as well as other healings. I might have misunderstood the meaning but wanted to ask what you meant by this thanks
Friends visited a local church a day the associate pastor was preaching a message on the feeding of the 5,000. They almost walked out on the message. She took the actual miracle out of the story by saying....don't you think the people knew they would get hungry and put some fruit and figs and fish in their garments. Then when they got seated they all began to pull the food out of their garments and shared. You see the real miracle was that when people generously share with each other the needs are met. She then went on to talk to the congregation about digging in to give to their annual financing campaign. BLASPHEMY!!!
I heard an interesting theory for the meaning of the number 12 in the feeding of the 5000 and the 12 baskets of leftover bread, and the number 7 in the feending of the 4000 and the 7 baskets of leftover bread. The bread represents Jesus, the bread of life, giving himself to the people, to give them eternal life. The 12 would represent Israel, as in the 12 tribes, and the 7 would represent the Gentiles, as in the 7 nations of the land of Canaan that the Jews had to drive away to possess the promised land. They are mentionned in Deuteronomy 7:1. So Jesus gives eternal life to Israel and the Gentiles. It does make sense I find.
Only the 2nd time in the series that I had a real problem here. I’m a believer in that the food was shared by the people there. Not that God couldn’t make it happen, but because creating bread out of thing air means nothing, but creating people who come together and share their resources is a beautiful thing. If the miracle means that Jesus can make bread, that’s cool. But if it means he can unite the people of the Earth, then that’s a bigger miracle than the firs T
It seems that the deity of Jesus is one personage of the sovereign God. Could it be that the triune God's will is all powerful and all things are done to it; Creation, Salvation, Election, and Miracles ?
There must be meaning to the 12 baskets. Jesus made it so that there were 12 baskets left. He had total control over the amount of food that would be left, because He is God. He decided to make it that there were 12 baskets left; there must be a reason He did that. Because His choice to do it is in the Word of God.
Pastor Mike, you say that the one serving is more worn out than the one being served. You must be exhausted after your study for your videos because all of my friends and family that I share them with are always like I gotta take a break and do something easy after they finish one of your extremely in depth teachings 🤣
It’s about knowing what is important at the time and space you are at. Like the timing of when they should fast after the ascension and not when the bridegroom was present. Like when spikenard a very expensive perfume was used for prepping for burial. Like pulling your donkey out of a ditch on the sabbath. There is a hierarchy to our actions and the higher valued action takes precedence over the established norms. Like if your hand offends you cut it off.
Hi Mike... Wanted to get your outlook on how a Christian should respond to something like this. A friend and I were discussing if I had a child and he was playing with a doll would I take it away form him and only let him play with boy toys. I told her I wasn't sure but felt immediately convicted and changed my answer to no I would encourage boy toys. She said she would not do this if she had a son ( without a doubt) then it shifted into would you let your son wear a dress for fashion reasons not for sex choice reaosns . I said no I would never because it's a sin. Because the Bible says for men to not wear women's clothes plainly. And other biblical reasons, saying not to be conformed by this world. Her argument was if it's for fashion reasons how is it a sin, and repeatedly said she thinks it's very grey in the Bible. I had also said if my son wanted to wear a dress as a child who's brain isn't fully developed yet as a parent why would I allow any confusion or temptation in their hearts more than the world already does. Her reply was, if your son loved the color orange are you going to tell him it's not and he's wrong because he's not developed? After all this the subject shifted into something light hearted and we tried to shake it off. Ive been working on my relationship with God and felt like I did a poor job in the discussion. How would you respond? You should make a video on this is you feel compelled. Thank you.
She's got a deeper issue she's not being honest about. Sounds to me her issue is with God, not you, and she's defiant. God made male and female, and we must respect each as such. A guy wearing a dress in the fashion world is giving God the middle finger, so to speak. It's very disrespectful of women. There are clothes specific to each sex, and for a reason. There is nothing wrong for you to lovingly stick to your convictions. In fact, we'd better because if we don't, then what example will our little ones follow? Boys and girls will gravitate toward sex appropriate toys and activities. Don't worry if they don't. I played football in the streets with my brothers, climbed trees and scaled walls, loved sports, and hated dolls. But, I had no sisters, daddy was never home, mom was working, and I had no other example or girls to play with. Thank God that was in the 70s. Otherwise, some teacher in school would've transitioned me. I'm a happy woman, and being a wife and mother has been the greatest joy of my life.

The single parent (perhaps a better label is a parent who has been abandoned by their spouse) lives an impossible life. I've worked multiple jobs to make ends meet, my kids getting less of mom, and then on top of that I'm still expected to put out, at church, social sertings, etc, and never have the time to rest, or think of my needs. Then what? Impossible. Does the church come alongside to help? Rarely. Crickets.
I can relate. I learned too late that I didn't have to meet all those expectations. Looking back now, I can see how and where I would have drawn lines differently. Your immediate family, the ones you care for (including yourself), is your first ministry. Be bold and say no to those expectations that demand with no return. Be blessed and remember that it really is as hard as it seems and not as easy as others make it out to be.
Have you ever heard it said that the 12 baskets represent the 12 tribes of Isreal and the bread represents the Word of God that goes out to all the earth and the remnants of bread are those that hear the word of God and come back to Him? The remnant is a solid theme throughout all of Scripture, I just think its interesting.
I thought it was the 70 disciples who were sent out by two to witness, not the 12 disciples who became the Apostles ?. It's at about the 1-minute mark you say the 12, not the 70, perhaps there was another time that the 12 were sent out, I'll go check Mark 6, verse 30
How does someone find a group of people that go out and minister in Christ's name as a mission? I WANT TO go out and spread God's word but I can't do it by myself (I've tried) I believe that I would grow more and really learn how to effectively minister to others if I were involved in a more missional type of group or church. My life is not following the pattern that the the Word says that it should be and it discourages me. I'm always tired but not in the way I should be (tired of doing something for the Lord). My love for people is suffering with all of the stress in the world, I'm increasingly disliking people instead of growing more compassionate?
Mike, the significance of the twelve baskets is not easily seen from a dispensationalist perspective. It's having to do with a "table in the wilderness", the remnant of Israel, and the Sabbath. If you're curious, text back and I will elaborate.
You only need the blood of Christ for salvation and not the RCC. Nor does the pope have any authority. Jesus is the High Priest and we go directly to him. Read the Bible and ignore the Catechism
Could you tell me why? I'm an ex Catholic. Someone I know joined the Catholic church recently. She fell in love with a Catholic, and the rest is history. But they do make it a point to keep the emphasis on Jesus as Savior. I left the RCC because while I was raised in the church, attended parochial school, never once did any priest, nun, nor my teachers ever tell me why Jesus hung on the cross. It blows my mind that as a Catholic, I had no idea about eternal life. Isn't that why Jesus came? To be the propitiation for my sins, so that whoever believes would be saved? What good is any church if they aren't at least teaching the gospel?

He is The LORD our provider.
Amen! May we have the courage to be Lights in this ever darkening world!
I appreciate this guy!
Right!?
Thank you so much for this, Mike. I always learn so much from your videos. This message was right on time for me. God bless you.
God Bless!
Pastor Mike thank you-this is inspiring-Glory be to God
This video is such a blessing
Thank you Pastor Mike
Exo 16:4 Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.
Cloudy with a chance of Manna
I appreciate you mike!
Maybe a lesson on blessing would be helpful. What does it mean to bless?
@@winniecash1654 As we see in this verse, to bless the Lord is synonymous with to praise the Lord. “Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!” Psalm 103 (New King James)
In the NIV, they’ve changed the word bless for praise. “Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.”
@@robertdelisle7309 right, and the different meanings obfuscate who does the blessing. I'll need to do a study to clear it up in my mind. Thanks for responding.
@@winniecash1654 In the Psalm, the ones doing the blessing/praise are humans and the recipient of the blessing/praise is God.
It's true that no part of Jesus was a pushover. Rather, God has full control. If being a pushover is relinquishing control to others, then we know God cannot be a pushover.
Thanks Mike, May God bless you :)
Beard on point!
I found all the details pointing to the timeframe of Passover, very interesting. Thank you. I've never seen that before.
Many great insights here...... Helped open-up the passage to me. Thank you.
This is REALLY GOOD stuff Mike Winger.
Your a blessing Mike❤️
Great sermon mike!
I learned so much thank you!!
Sorry everyone, I didn’t mean to start such a huge... ‘thing’. But I have read all your words to me and I thank you all for responding so quickly - and the best you could.
This came just in time cause I’m about to feed 5000 relatives on thanksgiving.. 🤦🏻♂️😭

Where are YOU going to get all that food from :-)

That was awesome!!
First! I actually studied this in depth a few weeks ago :) i love how there is a huge transition in John 6 between physical bread and spiritual bread. Good job Mike
There's always MORE depths, just waiting to be discovered in the word of God.
Its a parallel of the seven assemblies/churches in Revelation. He sent them out to feed the nations, 2 fish 5 bread. (2 fish = Symrna & Philadelphia, 5 bread = the broken churches)

Yes, get that teaching out, few know it and even less teach it. It's important that we give all credit to Him, because He deserves it and truth is its because of Him. Secrets like that are hidden all over, seek Him with all your being and He shows you. Here's another,

did all the food just appear at once or as it was handed out it just kept replacing its self ,food for 5000 people would take up a bit of space I know this is silly but I cant help but wonder how things happened as I read the Bible
Another great teaching!
Bless you brother!! PRAISE JESUS!!
Thank you.
Very good explanation. Thank you
So cool the comparison of Elijah/Elisha and John the Baptist/Jesus from 2 Kings!
We are no fear like an army of 10,000 surrounding us and not being afraid.
Mike speaks the truth
yes, we do suffer, big time, we must be strong.amen
Andrew: *sotto vocce* "Hey kid, what's in the bag? This boy has 5 loaves and 2 fish." Boy: "Wait, what?"
The more you see undesigned coincidence in the Bible is the more you realise that the coincdences were actually designed by God through His Word.
Elijah -> Elisha is a type of John the Baptist -> Jesus. Good job pointing that out. I had only heard it from one other person in many, many teachings on these passages.

Parallels all over, interesting one is Paul of Tarsus... is said to be bald.
John hairy, EliYah hairy, EliSha bald - Paul.
Same could be said about the widow's mite. If it's about sacrificial giving, that would be a secondary lesson. It was a continuation of Jesus' rebuke on the Pharisees fro putting her in that circumstance.
Jesus multiplied the fish, He makes us fishers of men, to multiply His chuch.

Thanks for letting me know. I reached out to the developers and I’m hoping for a quick fix.
Thank you so much for your quick and timely response! Truly appreciate your gifts my brother and fellow laborer! You’ve taught me a lot
Miracle being recorded in all four of the Gospels.
Sometimes a person wants teaching for themselves. Not necessarily asking to teach others.
We need more Bible studies!
Jesus is the christ in you. The bread it spiritual substance. The doubting 12 is your .12 states of being . The 5000 is your 5 senses infinitly.
They should have walked out on that sermon.
Catherine Westholt wow just wow
Wow
How about the healing of the blind man and giving him sight?
Only the 2nd time in the series that I had a real problem here.
I’m a believer in that the food was shared by the people there. Not that God couldn’t make it happen, but because creating bread out of thing air means nothing, but creating people who come together and share their resources is a beautiful thing.
If the miracle means that Jesus can make bread, that’s cool. But if it means he can unite the people of the Earth, then that’s a bigger miracle than the firs T
There are times when things are stated explicitly and not figuratively. This is one of them. If you prefer to have warm fuzzies, I won't argue.
16:45, what about when Jesus didn’t let the disciples rest when he wanted them awake for him to pray? What was the context there?
It’s about knowing what is important at the time and space you are at. Like the timing of when they should fast after the ascension and not when the bridegroom was present.
Like when spikenard a very expensive perfume was used for prepping for burial. Like pulling your donkey out of a ditch on the sabbath.
There is a hierarchy to our actions and the higher valued action takes precedence over the established norms.
Like if your hand offends you cut it off.
Amen
The first miracle was turning water to wine according to Mathew. There many more like curing the lame and so much more.
He said that this is the only miracle besides the resurrection, that was recorded in all four gospels, not that it was the only miracle.
That's not what he said. He said it's the only one in all four gospels. Feel free to pay attention.

I really enjoy the content mike, do u think maybe a study on the security of the believer would be a relevant study?
Let me guess, it represents the ever-flowing waters of life that we can only gain from belief in our saviour? That's my initial interpretation I think
In the 5 loaves 2 fish and 12 baskets, are the baskets empty?
Ha! Ad-hock reminded me of the story Stone Soup.
Worst censorship is self censorship.
"Green gas" lol
Look for a ministry to volunteer with
Grace and peace, Mike. I was wondering what program you use to produce your videos?
Mike, the significance of the twelve baskets is not easily seen from a dispensationalist perspective. It's having to do with a "table in the wilderness", the remnant of Israel, and the Sabbath. If you're curious, text back and I will elaborate.

Too much for me to put in a comment but I used to listen to you but am now converting to Catholicism.
