Dead Hand Blues have you seen there 2019 lineup at namm the Gibson sg’s all have wiggle sticks they brought back their classic vibe so best way of saying it is Gibson is back to there roots 👍
I have a soft spot for Fenders, but the SGs always catch my attention for the sound. Look up Sister Rosetta Thorpe - she was a gospel singer who played an SG and is playing a rock style before rock.
@@guywerry6614 No need to look her up, my good man. She is well known around here 👍. She was inducted into the Rock n Roll HOF last year, I do believe.
i agree, its one of the better sounding guitars ive heard. it sounds so sweet straight up, you'd be able to dial in some truly godly sounds on that thing. i wish i would have had the chance to buy it
John Anderson you hit the nail on the head. That is a Rosetta Thorpe. White just like hers. Notice no other comments. Cause hardly anyone knows Rosetta.
@@mateodelcastillo7186 I knew of Rosetta long ago I keep arguing to guys that Rock n Roll was started by a woman but they won't believe me.. Hendrix used one and the late Glen Buxton of the Alice Cooper also had one which replaced his old pink Les Paul that got stolen. The white Sg went missing for years since Glens passing was found and Neil Smith had it restored The original neck was broken and couldn't be re-attached and Dennis now owns the broken neck
Tim Pierce she is one of the main links between slave chants/gospel/Rhythm and Blues /rock billy / British Invasion/ modern rock. The brits were listening to her in the early 1960’s. she heavily influenced popular guitar culture as well
May I have your attention ...will all “Chads” remain absolutely silent and move to the tee shirt area so that video recording may take place !! You may resume milling around aimlessly after video production has ceased. Thank you.
Alice Cooper was so wrong on so many levels and I just ate it up! That stuff still cooks. That band came to mind as soon as I saw the guitar. Thanks Mark!
Well your not far off on the denim thing. Gibson made "Blueberry Burst" the standard color for the 2019 Les Paul Standard. Would NOT own a blue guitar of any type[a Pelham blue Trini Lopez I would]. Blue just don't work for me on a guitar
Neck Pickup: Hey Joe - The Jimi Hendrix Experience Middle Pickup: School's Out - Alice Cooper Bridge Pickup: You Shook Me All Night Long - AC/DC Nice guitar, I think I've seen pictures of Hendrix with it. Also I don't know if you'll see this, Mark, but I'd appreciate it if on Tuesday I could get a shoutout because my birthday is on Monday (the 14th) and I'll be turning 20
Friggin SGer day , I luv it , those patent no's sound awesome , and what SGer day is complete without Angus , hey joe , schools out , and don't ya know , the walls were shakin , the earth was quaking , my mind was achin , and we weren't fakin it
Sound quality upgrade! Direct signal via Universal Audio Ox? I’ve got a ‘74 SG Custom. Stop-tail, harmonica bridge, original Super Humbucker pickups replaced with Mojotones: Alnico 4 magnets and slightly unbalanced (and unpotted) coils. Also replaced wiring harness: 3 vols, 1 master tone, middle pickup bypasses selector switch and is in phase with the others. Plays & sounds fab. Heavier body than typical, makes for better balance. This ‘66 sounds great, but with some mods an early/mid ‘70s version delivers the same goods at a much more reasonable price.
Position 2 sounds more like bridge and middle out of phase - which is what I thought it was supposed to be. If I ever wanted one of these, it wasn't really because of the standard players associated with the SG; it was because of Terry Alan Kath.
One of the best looking Gibson guitars ever made. Gibson? Lets never make them!
They are stupid and don't know what people really want
Epiphone did a reissue about 10 years ago

gearmeister good point man I’ve given that thought myself in the past but never did it lol
Jimi Hendrix - "Hey Joe"
Alice Cooper - "School's Out"
AC/DC - "You Shook Me All Night Long"
Gloveberg thank you
Not only a Jimi guitar, but also the incredible Sister Rosetta Tharpe. And she rocked it.
Holy SH!T that guitar sounds amazing. Not an SG guy, not a 3-HB guy, it doesn't matter. That thing needs to be played, man.
Fact.

In b4 the copyright strike. My God, that's my Holy Grail guitar.
Hey Joe isn’t a Jimi original. :)
Chris Clark lol I thought the exact same thing as soon as I heard jimi Hendrix
Mine too, add a hollow 335 or something and play night.
Mine too...
Tonewise that is one of the best guitars I've heard on this channel and that is saying something.
Isn't it really preasurable to hear those old guitars? They sound so good 😍
preasurable? You must be from Asia. Me so sorry!
@@bigdon3113 much wow
@@bigdon3113 wtf.
Nice.... Always look forward to guitar of the day.Thank You!
Hot damn, she sounds GOOD!
Yeah, I'm very much a Fender man myself, but that has a great, crisp sound. Love those old school pickups.
Nice!
Neck: Hey Joe - Jimi Hendrix
Middle: School's out for the summer - Alice Cooper
Bridge: You shook me all night long - ACDC
Looks like a UA Ox attenuator on the amp at 5:29. I thought that amp sounded better than usual!
Ya think? I just bought one but live in an apartment. good idea. thanks.
That SG in white is gorgeous with a gold pickups and Hardware. Pure Hollywood pure Hollywood
Rosetta Thorpe guitar. Looks pretty awesome.
John Anderson you hit the nail on the head. That is a Rosetta Thorpe. White just like hers. Notice no other comments. Cause hardly anyone knows Rosetta.

Of course people know her
i still think about this guitar. i wonder where its at and how much it sold for. i have dreams about it.
Little extra brightness and snap with that ebony board, nice!
Ever since I saw Sister Rosetta Tharpe rocking one of these, I’ve been in love.
Wowzers. That SG sounds amazing!
I can dig it.
Excellent SG Custom! Love the white finish. Thanks Mark and Jen!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Some guitars are just special

So beautiful I love that guitar
Been following for 3 years... this is the best sounding guitar ever on this channel.
I think that is some of your best playing ever!
Once again proving the SG is the superior guitar
God yes! My favourite Gibson model! And Custom! Loved this one! However! Gotta do a Maton!
So I guess I got to be at the shop when they give my guitar to me. They haven’t said which one I’m getting but I’ll make the trip down there.
Great guitar, great set list, great demo !!!
Such a beautiful guitar with the gold hardware and white finish, the SGs have that nice fast thin neck!

I have ALWAYS wanted one of those!
No problem they're only like 10 grand. LOL maybe we can get a chibson.
@@guitarocd9984 ...yeah, it doesn't have to be a popular brand, i just like the way they look....
Obviously, we don't have the same tastes... I think this guitar looks awful...
That's blasphemy. How could you say that. What is your taste
There is just something about a white guitar ! But I knew you couldn't do a SG without some ACDC to round it out...lol Great job Mark.
Hopefully the new Levi’s guy brings Gibson back into the 21st century.
Plus now maybe we can get a Gibson custom SG in denim.
Ism Ardis white denim
Lmao yes

Takes some guts to play a Hendrix song on RUclips these days.. gg
@Randall F Exactly.
Really?? There's loads of guys out there doing it..
The arrangement still belongs to the estate
Seriously the Hendrix Estate and the Tupac Estate are nightmares to work with. I’ve had to do it in the past. Greedy blood suckers.
