- Troops from all three services of the British military have taken part in a major Nato exercise in Estonia.
Exercise Spring Storm sees 1,500 British personnel join servicemen and women from 11 Nato countries, the first time the UK has conducted a brigade-sized deployment to the country.
Brigadier Giles Harris, Commander, Nato enhanced Forward Presence, told Forces News the exercise was about "beginning to visualise and understand the planning to pull forward a brigade into Estonia in a time of crisis".

Residual, Russia hasn't even declared general mobilization, they have largest manpower capacity in the world, their greatest strenght, 25million , u underestimate the military power of russia.. clearly not eastern-european nor have any experience in the family fighting russian empire...
even in NATO battleplans its written than East-Europe would be overrun in a week in a real war and occupied for atleast 6months before nato troops arrive trying to liberate...
there's a reason russia calls it "special operation" , to them this scale isn't a war, but a skirmish , the goal is to ruin ukraine economically to prevent joining eu and nato, not to conquer it by killing people in millions who they call "brothers" , that's how russians/slavs are, brutal ...
Russia in war with NATO wouldnt mean only Russia, it would mean ww3 , and China-Russia-Iran or entire middle-east with them, possibly even India(wich is 50% reliant entirely on russian military tech... India fears China more than they do nato, they have been rejecting nato offers multiple times to join.. )

US is only auxillary help, their miklitary is navy and air power, not infantry, best US can do is 50 000 troops to support EU , Russia has literally 3x more heavy artillery than US , theoretically Russia could bombard entire east europe, not stepping onto EU soil even, if im not mistaken NATO has less artillery combined than Russia or equalent, Russia has very one dimensional military setup, a lot of artillery, their weakness is actually Trucks, supply and logistics problems, not enough transport, and entire logistics based on rail network, once they step out of their territory, their logistics are fcked.
My point is, dont underestimate russians, ask any finnish or estonian, what it's like fighting them in a war, they are like "orcs" , human life doesnt matter.. throw masses into meatgrinder , everyone cant be as heroic as that ukraininan Predator, who single handledly fight of 12 size group from a bunker with RPG7, grenade throwing and multiple machine guns...

We may be a small military overall but still well respected across the globe especially in the former Baltic States who feel extremely grateful for our support, the British government needs to wake up though and increase its strengths all-round,

I just hope that all the lessons learnt from the Ukrainians massive successes are being integrated into this exercise and skills further honed. E.g. extensive use of drones with associated coordination, portable antitank weaponry etc. The narrative here gave me the impression it was old tactics and equipment.
we was using drones and anti tank weaponry in Afghanistan, i do believe the west are watching, learning and adapting to whats going on in Ukraine, the problem is underfunding over all these years because of the peace/ less threat in europe. now they are waking back up. plus they wont give all the tactics etc away on a youtube video ;)
NATO has been using drones for years. Though dropping grenades on heads is probably not on the list. They like using giant missiles 😂. Pretty sure they have anti drone stuff as well. Don’t know how well it works though

I'm not from Europe, and i am no military expert, but i can say with certainty that had Estonia not join NATO, Russia would have invaded Estonia just like what they did to Ukraine. Good call for Estonians for joining the alliance
Damn! Those French parachutes look like something out WW2!
These are rapid descent and low altitude parachutes because when you drop an important number of troops landing as fast as possible is more important than manevrability.
There are similar battle groups in Latvia and Estonia, as well. They are not only there for rapid response, they are "tripwire" forces that will be quickly reinforced if the Russians try anything in that direction. The Russians have stated their intention to re-occupy the Baltic countries but their capacity to do so has likely left the barn.
Those thermal imagers would be very spooky to be on the wrong end of. I'm glad that I'm not Russian lol

We are determined to not lose any more countries to a dictator. NATO is strong, we are ready. We don't wish to invade, we wish for peace. Russia needs to calm down. Counter insurgency is much different from invading a European country. Russian people are one of 3 things. Purposely oblivious. Anarchists, or like many countrymen around the world: dedicated to the success of their motherland. Putin needs to retire, and the structure he created needs to reevaluate its position in the global scale of things.
NATO should ask Ukraine for some tips. Right now Ukraine is the most experience and battle hardened military in the world.

@@iare19 This from the nation whos ships are so undermanned, where the crews are pulling such long hours and are so unhappy they set fire to thier own ships in protest. Also, battle hardened in the first comment refers to real ground combat against a real invading enemy, something no Nato member has faced in years. You can train aall you want, and buy all the fancy tech you wish, it's not a substitue for actual combat.
