    Buy cheap the first time but buy the biggest set you can find. When things break or wear out, replace with the high end version.
    You're left with the tools you use the most being the best, but if you need something for a job you rarely do, chances are you'll have it.
    Best bit is you'll spend far less in the long run

    • @nomad-pq4yw8iy7v
      @nomad-pq4yw8iy7v 3 месяца назад

      That works sometimes but, other times the cheap will do damage not just break or wear out. So just be aware of that. No you don't need to buy all high end tools.

    Pretty solid list. Spoke key is a must as is Chain whip/cassette removal tool are a must. Can’t replace most rear spokes without pulling the cassette. Also you can remove your dork disk while you’re at it.

    A good quality multitool such as the Topeak Hexus X is probably the first tool to get as it will do 80% of the jobs on your bike. Then follow it up with whatever is needed for maintenance tasks as they come up. Buy good tools if you think you will use them frequently, otherwise get something mid priced for occasional use. Avoid cheap tools that may end up harming your bike and costing you more than you saved.

Can't beat a day on the tools with the bike hooked up to the stand! Great film Owen, I'm always amazed just how many seasoned riders, regardless of type of bike don't fix their own bikes! I couldn't imagine having someone else tighten the nuts and bolts on my bike before I go flying down a hill! My favourite tool? FSA threaded Bottom bracket removal tool(s)!!!

    Also as a pro Aircraft Mechanik. A Tipp certain tolls should be calibrated. Any good torque wrench 🔧 should have a calibration cert. what’s the sense if after a few drops bumps and years of use your torque wrench will not perform to the set values.

    1:38 and, if you want to change a Shimano 135mm TX/MT Freehub: an 11mm _or_ a 12mm Hex 😂 Shimano won't let you know beforehand - they only say "use Hex wrench" in the manual 😂 and, when you're really, really lucky - the _very same_ part may come with either 11 or 12 😂 Why? because they don't care. They want you to buy a new hub - or, ideally a new wheel.
    Tough time finding an 11mm Hex? It's acutally easier to grind down a 12mm with a file.
