Both dances were such great improv that you’d swear you choreographed the whole thing. Both of you seemed to be really paying attention to each other’s cues. Leo makes it look so effortless to send you spinning and moving, yet is so respectful with partner touching. (I’ve watched a few videos where they are very handsy and I think that would just be a huge distraction) Great job, both of you. :)
AH!!! gymnastics , I should have known , what I see in his dancing is Ballet and I'll bet there are other disciplines going on there also. I've been enjoying young Leo now for at least 2 years now . He shot right up through the ranks with his background and abilities, definitely an athlete . I suspect he'll earn his way into the pro ranks with a good US Open routine if he stays in WCS and any other hurdles in life don't get in his way . I believe he's already met the 'Invitational' if not 'all-star' demands at a lot of events in Europe and even in the US , prolly all over the world except KP of course .@@ripplesandleaves

This is West Coast Swing (WCS) dancing. It's a modern child of a few different styles of dance, and often done to modern music. It's improvised nearly all of the time, meaning the two partners make up what they do as they go. The smoothness, and compression/tension is part of the defining characteristics of WCS. Yes, West Coast Swing sometimes has choreographed routines, but it's almost always improvised. The two dancers communicate non-verbally through their "connection" - their hand hold, or contact on body. As you learn the dance, a really neat thing is the connection really does become a medium for a conversation about what's coming next, one partner proposing patterns, and the other partner accepting, refusing, or suggesting something else.

This sort of acrobatic dancing is Leo's trademark; and deservedly so. He's a remarkable athlete as well as dancer.
