The Cornetto Trilogy is done and I have no regrets *LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING* and *THE OTHER GUYS* are both available over on Patreon :) www.patreon.com/professorreactions
In case no one told you (they probably did by now) Cornetto is the name of the ice creams featured in the films. Each flavor and colour represents the films genre: Strawberry red = Blood aka Zombie Choc and Nut Blue = Police Mint Green = Alien The Official name of the trilogy is Blood And Ice Cream, probably so they didn't get sued by Cornetto despite the product placement
Fun fact: both this movie and Hot Fuzz have actors in them that also played James Bond. Timothy Dalton (Skinner in Hot Fuzz) and Pierce Brosnan (Guy Shepherd in The Worlds End).
This movie might be Edgar Wright's movie with the most foreshadowing like the opening scene where gary recounts the night is basically a recap of the movie just without the blanks like here's the pubs names: The first post - It's the first pub simple The Old Familiar - It's just like the first pub and also Sam(A Old Familiar friend) appears The Famous Cock - Gary its banned there from being a cock The Cross Hands - The gang fights with another gang The Good Companions - The gang has to pretend they are happy and don't know about the blanks(also the poster is 4 sad faces and 1 happy face like how Gary is enjoying all of it since now they are forced to complete the golden mile) The Trusty Servant - Trevor(The drug dealer) is now a trusty servant to the network(the name of the alien overlords) The Two Headed Dog - The name references the twin sisters that Gary, Stephen and Sam fight The Mermaid - Gary, Andy and Pete are seduced by the mermalade sandwich just like sirens(mermaids) would do to pirates(also the 3 mermaids on the poster all look just like the marmelade sandwich) The Beehive - The network has sort of a hive mind and here is where the gang fights a bunch of blanks(like they are fighting a bunch of bees) The King's Head - Not only does it reference that just before they arrived here Gary had to prove he was not a blank by hitting his hand against a wall but also this is where Gary decides to risk his life just to finish the golden mile(also the king in the poster is literally Simon Pegg) The Hole in the Wall - Stephen crashes the beast into the wall of the pub making a hole The World's End - Well the world's end. But not only that, like how The original Oliver did not make it past The Trusty Servant and Pete did not make it past the beehive in the original night they also get blanked in those pubs in the new night. Also when the young gang watches the sunset there a falling star aka the blanks arriving to earth! also early on Gary says that how if there were 5 musketers they would 2 and there would be 3 left aka only 3 of the 5 survive! also how when Gary was trying to prove he was human he did not show his wrists to foreshadow the fact that he was suicidal. And so many more that I Probaly missed sometimes I go from this and Shaun from being the best of the trilogy and its such a shame not many people think that.
Thank you for this comment that i wouldn't be able to wrote because i'm french and pretty drunk right now haha ! but if i understood correct, for you Shaun of the dead is the best, for me, it's my least favorite, i'm a big fan of The World's End haha but yeah, even all you mentioned, there is a lot of references and things in this movie that is so ... Profound. god i love this movie, by the way, Simon Pegg said that Gary King was his absolute favorite character to play of his hole carrier !
@@renokru7443 Ah sorry I miswrited it, what I meant is that depending on what i'm feeling that day its either Shaun or The World's End that is my favourite(Its never Hot Fuzz).
0:42 this is least received because it's the one that relies most on your affinity to English culture. The film centres on a popular UK custom called "The Pub Crawl" where you head from public house (Pub) to Pub and have one ale per pub (at least). The key is you have to go to certain pubs, not Nightclubs and bars. Pubs tend to have weird names that have significant meanings not commonly shared. The Cornetto Trilogy gave names to the pubs that connect to their stories ie. The Winchester was the name of the rifle Shaun used.
I feel it's also the least popular because the message of the movie is about pretty specific experiences that not all people can relate to (and I think it's the only one in the trilogy that really has "a message" to begin with)
So glad you had no idea about the twist to this one. I love how every scene, and basically every piece of dialogue has purpose. Nothing wasted. And a scifi capper to the trilogy...
This movies reputation definitely suffers from the other two in the trilogy being so good because its actually a really enjoyable film in its own right. Lots to like about it. The whole concept is fantastic fun.
This is actually my favorite of the three, partly because the twist is so good, and so unexpected as long as you didn't see any trailers. Also, the fight choreography was done by one of the main fight coordinators for the matrix movies. That's why it's so awesome.
This is my favourite of the trilogy. I think you have to be the right age. Also, a ring road isn't the same as a roundabout. A ring road usually circles a town.
The seed of this was sewn when seeing an old Gene Kelly film called 'It's Always Fair Weather' about three G.I.s who were best friends but meet ten years later to find they hate each other. Rosamund Pike (Sam) and Pearce Brosnan were last together in his last Bond, 'Die Another Day'. The voice of the Hivemind was Philip (Bill Nighy) and you really ought to see Wright's TV show 'Spaced' which had Pegg and Frost amongst others.
I grew up in the town this movie was filmed in (Letchworth Garden City). There's never been anything more surreal than walking out of a cinema into the set of the film I just saw. The local cinema was also used for The Mermaid. If you google maps Broadway Cinema Letchworth you can basically take a tour of the setting. It's really funny that most of the pubs are only a minute walk away from each other.
I don't understand why the world's end is the least favorite trilogie's cornetto movie to people, it has incredible fight scene, alcohol, gary king who is a character that we all love, he is incredible, and alien shit, god, i don't understand. The world's end is my favorite cornetto movie but also, my favorite movie ! In a interview, Simon pegg said that Gary King was is favorite character to play ever, he said he was so cool and interesting ! sry for my mistakes, i'm french, and... Yeah i'm drunk ! :D
Same, the world's end is one of the reasons Simon Pegg is my favorite actor of all time. I personally think the world's end is the best because I think it is the tightest movie. I love Shawn of the dead and personally I never understood why people make such a big deal out of hot fuzz. Although maybe it has something to do with the order I've seen them in. I saw Shawn of the dead first, then the world's end. I've seen it a million times because it's one of my dad's favorite movies of all time. Then when me my dad and my brother all saw hot fuzz we were really disappointed. My favorite Simon Pegg movie though has got to be a fantastic fear of everything.
I meant to see this is the end and I accidently saw this instead and remmber being so confused when a trailer for this is the end while sitting in the theater
I always felt this movie was underrated. The fight choreo is good, the acting is top tier, the direction is stellar. It's hard to put it in with Hot Fuzz and Sean of the Dead, because they are just exquisite while this one is only great.
physius the ship "is the spirit of the object retained when all replaced?" it's a hard name to say. but i've had to fucking think about it 4 times in the last 45 hours.

My favorite of the trilogy. The other two are solid gold, but this is a diamond.

I love how this trilogy uses extras. Especially this one with the glowing eyes and use of focus. So good.

This is my favorite. It's I really connect with Gary King and his struggles with suicide and alcoholism.
Recently found out that Hughie from The Boys comic was based on Simon Pegg, that’s awesome lol
'Paul' is a great non-Cornetto comedy with Simon Pegg & Nick Frost -x-
Have you seen 'Paul' yet? It's got Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, an Alien and Sigourney Weaver. It's a fun film imo.
I grew up in the town this movie was filmed in (Letchworth Garden City). There's never been anything more surreal than walking out of a cinema into the set of the film I just saw. I feel like we got a thriller, a horror and a sci Fi and and this one is my favorite one, the Sci-Fi one
"look at me I'm so cute"
My favourite film ❤️ I've lost count of how many times I've watched this ans it never gets old
This one is my favourite out of the three films ❤
I'd love to see you react to Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
Worlds End, 28 Days Later & Dog Soldiers are my go to DVDs for housework.
dog soldiers is such a good underrated call

WE was def my least fave of the trilogy upon its release, but now it’s tied for my fave with HF, with Shaun just slightly beneath the other two.
This Is the End (2013) was fantastic. a comedy for comedians
I relate to Gary so damn much
Sadly... Me too mate
Same, since he's pretty much the first and only actual "goth" character in any media(aka a fan of the music).
Watch Baby Driver also directed by Edgar Wright
I LOVE this film. I think it's my favourite. Nick Frost is my ideal man.
I meant to see this is the end and I accidently saw this instead and remmber being so confused when a trailer for this is the end while sitting in the theater
This is the end is an epic movie!!
I forgot how silly fun this is.
I don’t think I ever made it to the end of this one
you should do ku fu hustle next..........
Watch Paul next! Please!!!!!!!!
shaun of the dead was always weak to me. Hot Fuzz is incredible. World's End I like more 'cuz I'm an alcoholic.
Frost in his first serious role.
The intro was the spoiler for the rest of the movie.
I always felt this movie was underrated. The fight choreo is good, the acting is top tier, the direction is stellar. It's hard to put it in with Hot Fuzz and Sean of the Dead, because they are just exquisite while this one is only great.
