@1:33 - that's not the case !!! (you can add roles, but not configure them using WAC, that alone defeat the purpose of this program/service) 1. Please show how to use this WAC service to make a Server 2022 core into a domain server + DNS (/w reverse-lookup) + DHCP (/w two /24 scope, each starts at 192.168.x.30 to 254). All on the same VM/box/machine. 2. Make that same Server 2022 core into an enterprise CA /w 10-years-root-cert, and issuing only 1-year certs to pc's/servers/ etc... (please show how to do these basic Admin task using WAC, no power shelling)
Administration of the server is not the same as administering an app on that server. What you are saying is “WAC Sucks because you can’t use the MMC cert snap-in to manage the certificate authority…” The MMC manages certs on the server, the CA application is a role that runs on that server…those are not the same thing. WAC administers the server, not the apps you are running on that server. And YES powershell is a viable tool to configure a server too
@@AzureAcademy fair point, but no that's not what i am saying, i am sure WAC will be able to manage Certs. - My point it that adding the roles required a few basic information to completely add it to the server, after that server manager will add it and install the mmc tools/plugins/etc... - WAC does not ask for this basic info. - when you select a Role to install, WAC could ask you to provide the needed info before it add the role. - Most if not all Roles in Windows Server has not seen any major update in how it's installed & configure, but changes has been done to how you set them up or manage them. - the last chnage to DNS was DNSSEC i thing, don't quote me on that.
Would like an app / client version of 'Windows Admin Center' An overview of all the servers with the agent running Windows Admin Center, cross tenant / subscriptions.
Server manager helped you setup the server with the DNS role. It didn’t give you the ability to administer DNS, it gave you a link to open the DNS MMC snap-in. Now…I do like your idea to see all the apps and roles that can be added to a server administered from WAC…so if you added DNS I’d love to have the DNS snap-in added to WAC for convenience…
@@AzureAcademy yes, but server manager does ask for basic stuff needed to configure and get DNS up, while WAC, just add the role and that's it. (you now have to PowerShell to configure it, not to manage it)
WAC’s strength is to manager the server not the app that runs on the server. Think of it like this: If you installed ADFS on a server The server team would need to make sure the server is healthy and the AD team will make sure ADFS / Federation works

I completely agree! I would love WAC to add the snap-in for each role that is added so you can configure and manage them in WAC!

sounds like the WAC Gateway feature...I love it! Thanks for sharing!
They need to make WAC, fully replace server manager as in the features.
everything that server manager can do, make WAC do it better/faster/cleaner

That is cool !!
I know right!
