  • Mohamad Hanief divides his daily life between the Kashmir Valley where his family lives in Gulmarg, a holiday resort perched at 3,000 meters on the slopes of the Himalayas.

Although located in the heart of one of the most militarized zones in the world, this region is very popular with wealthy Indian tourists who appreciate its wild landscapes of rare beauty in winter and its gentle freshness and the exoticism of the eternal snows in summer.
It is in this paradoxical universe that Mohamad makes us discover his daily life: farmer in the valley in spring and autumn; riding instructor, guide or ski instructor in Gulmarg in summer and winter.
Torn between the desire for a traditional life close to nature and the obligation to adapt to the evolution of the region in order to survive, Mohamad multiplies his lives to the rhythm of the seasons and tourists.

Why not narrate what they are saying verbatim? They are speaking English and it is clear you are changing the wording. The way they are speaking is much more vibrant.

I just felt you were taking the essence out of the documentary. This was especially when you were voice overing the guy who was speaking in really good English trying to explain things. If it was going to be like you should have just let me speak in his language rather than wasting his time and energy and not even showing what he was saying and dubbing over it. He said words properly and it felt better compared to the voice over where most words related to Kashmir were butchered. You didn’t even say Kashmir properly , at least let that english speaking Kashmiri man say it. I come from there and I hope no more people let channels like yourself film them because you are removing the uniqueness out of the whole thing with the over explained voiceover and ignorance for the people you were speaking to. Every time the narrator spoke it did not do justice to what was on the screen. Be more considerate next time when showcasing someone’s livid hoods and cultures, as it becomes very easy to change the way it is presented. I feel bad that those people might see this video and just think about the efforts each one of them put for the video not being appreciated. I saw the way they spoke and explained from the little snippets and it was just perfect but then the so called ‘dubbing’ came and ruined it, also with the addition of the voiceover changing the whole words that the people spoke.

wonderful place and nice people. but the women are still not having the same rights like men. I grew up in the mountains myself and we also had sheppards, but not only men where taking care of the heards always also women. woman had every right like men.and this must be an arranged marridge, everybody is crying or looking sad. marridge should be only happening with true love. and why is there no ski lesson for the girls. Too much of a men's world for my taste. And why is India making all the rules. The man should have the right to build a house the way he likes it and build a business. So sad. I hope in the future these nice people have all the rights but they should also respect the rights of women. Good luck for a good future.

kashmirian empire existed ! caucausus mountains to Himalaya mountains, a single cultural region. in the local Kashmir valley and Kashmiri ethnic valley region, history of new and ancient religions and schools of philosophy "did not" support or promote the "caste system" or "class system", as existed in rest of South Asia or even today in Western urban and rural societies. Often objective documentary research is derailed by political science groups. A good effort, better Film next time....2030 ?

All these places in Kashmir once Hindus lived but these Muslims have destroyed them or converted them.,.Kashmir is a very beautiful geographical place, but it has so much of Islamists that the society is backward in every sense. The hatred for Hindus (the natives of Kashmir)
Even the narrator is mentioning Indian tourists as if Kashmir is not India.. It clearly shows the anti-India stance the west still has. BTW it was the west Christian British who made Pakistan and supported Islamists.
