Congratulations on the new book, Leslie!
Thanks for all this great work that you are doing, looking forward to read it!
Also a (very belated) big thank you for the follow-up video about playing with less tension.
I've been following your advice for the past few weeks, and can say that trying to relax is (surprise!) a tough job, once the bad habits have settled in!
It's essential, however, as these tensions may lead to traumas and other unpleasantries in the long run.
Thanks for spreading awareness about the topic, that is often so overlooked in the trad world!

Thanks, Arthur! I hope you enjoy the book! I’m glad you’re finding the playing with less tension video helpful. I agree, it’s an important topic for sure. Thanks for asking about it in the first place. ☺️

Leslie, do you also play whistle or recorder professionally? And can your books be found in any local music stores?

Whistle, yes. Recorder, not for years and years. Regarding local music stores, I believe so. And if not, I imagine you can order it through your local store and/or directly from Mel Bay.

Leslie, I just bought an Irish flute today, and I’m wondering is the head joint adjustable like many whistles are? Also, what are those two holes in the foot joint for. They’re not extra notes, are they?

      @@TheMKEWERBY Hooray! That's very exciting!
The headjoint is certainly adjustable providing your flute is not all one piece. You'll be able to adjust it either using the tuning slide (if your flute has one), or by adjusting the headjoint right at the tenon joint where it connects to the body. I have a blog post about adjusting headjoints: www.leslieanneharrison.com/irish-flute-tips-blog-original/2021/2/2/3-tips-for-positioning-your-flute-headjoint
Regarding the extra holes in the footjoint, it's my understanding that those would have been used for low C# and C keys back in the day (or today, if players opt to have those keys added). Some makers still use the holes, some opt for a shortened footjoint. Here are a few posts/discussion threads on the topic. FWIW, I also have those two holes in my footjoint!

Regarding the foot joint holes, that was my assessment as well. Mine is keyless. Thank you, Leslie. I also have a Boehm system flute so I can familiarize myself with the difference.
